From the importer: "Dark and brooding with intense earthiness. This saperavi was aged for 8 years buried in the earth right outside the church. Take a sip, close your eyes, and you will feel transported to another time and place. Pairs perfectly with most meat or mushroom based dishes. Try with richer, creamier cheeses."

2016 Wine Thieves Rkatsiteli Republic of Georgia (Qvevri)

92 points Wine & Spirits: "Avto Kobakhidze and Givi Apakidze worked with a grower in the village of Kachreti for this rkatsiteli, fermented and aged in qvevri with skins and stems for about six months. Marigold-yellow, it’s a meaty, earthy wine with a beeswax density to its texture. While the initial impression is tannic and dark, a vivid acidity emerges, bringing freshness to the roasted- orange flavors. It’s large-boned and vibrant, a white wine that will hold its own next to game birds or a creamy mushroom pie." (12/2018)

Pheasant's Tears is the joint effort of American John Wurdeman, Georgian Gela Patalishvili, and Swedes Erik Andermo, Jakob Mörndal, and Henrik Callerstrand. They work to preserve and promote this ancient cultural legacy. All of Pheasant's ...

The winery still employs the ancient method of fermenting and aging the wines in kveri, which are large clay vessels buried in the ground. The Aladasturi is a red grape that produces a "lighter but flavorful wine which is fruity, spicy and a joy to drink."
