2009 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne Top Pick!
2009 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne

98 points James Suckling: "The best Dom since 2002. A vintage with very restrained, powerful style that has been released non-sequentially after the 2009. This has a lighter stamp of highly curated, autolytic, toasty aromas than many recent releases. Instead, this delivers super fresh and intense aromas of lemons, grapefruit and blood-orange peel. Incredible freshness here. The palate has a very smoothly delivered, berry-pastry thread with light, sweet spices, stone fruit and fine citrus fruit. This really delivers. Drink now or hold." 2009 La Rioja Alta "Viña Ardanza" Reserva Rioja

96 points James Suckling: "Very fresh and vivid 2009 with berries, dark spice and hints of walnuts. Full-bodied, reserved and so held back and muscular, but you don’t feel the tannins and the strength. A great wine. Give it two or three years. Try in 2020." (08/2018) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The current vintage of one of the flagship wines from La Rioja Alta is the 2009 Viña Ardanza Reserva, the second year it has contained 20% Garnacha grapes from their estate vineyards in La Pedriza in the village of Tudelilla in Rioja Baja. 2009 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A wine I’ve been lucky enough to have numerous times since release, the 2009 Pontet Canet is one of those magical efforts that wine lovers encounter far too infrequently. From one of the greatest vintages for the region ever, this deep, saturated purple-colored effort offers an incredible bouquet of crème de cassis, blackcurrants, lead pencil shavings, damp earth, and graphite. This gives way to a full-bodied, powerful Pauillac that carries a massive amount of sweet fruit yet stays light and beautifully balanced on the palate. Wi ...Read More »

2009 La Rioja Alta "904" Gran Reserva Rioja

97 points James Suckling: "This is a driven and super tight Gran Reserva with dark berries and hints of spice and cedar. A spicy red-pepper undertone and some dried flowers. Full to medium body, integrated tannins and a superb finish. A great wine." (08/2018) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Time flies, and the 904 for sale is already the 2009 Gran Reserva 904, as they didn't bottle it in 2008. 2009 Caol Ila 8 Year Old "Signatory" Single Hogshead Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (750ml)

We've made it a point this year to buy as much young Caol Ila as possible! Not only is the distillery cranking out some of the finest peated malt anywhere on Islay, but it's taste extremely delicious even at a very young age. When Signatory showed us this exceptional cask, we knew it would be a struggle to get it to the states at a price that makes sense. Luckily, the new local representation for the brand are old friends and they were able to work out a deal to bring this exceptional cask into stock at a relatively reasonable rate. Of course these Signa ...Read More »

(07/2017) 96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The most classic cuvée was not produced in 2007 or 2008, so we jumped to the phenomenal 2009 Prado Enea. 2009 Sérafin Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes

90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the nose is not only slightly riper but it's also notably more complex with sauvage and stone notes on the pungently earthy dark berry fruit aromas. The dense and altogether serious middle weight flavors are shaped by the very firm, indeed almost chewy, tannins on the extract-rich and palate staining finish. This moderately rustic wine is typically one of the best bets in the Serafin portfolio and I highly recommend the 2009 version to you. Though 2009 is famed for its heat, weight and glycerol, this example has plenty of bounce and freshness to balance its sexy, sumptuous personality. The 2009 Chateau d’Yquem is one showstopper of a wine and perhaps it is only in a vertical that you realize this is up there among the legendary wines of the past – the 2001 included. It has a wonderful nose that expresses the Semillon component majestically: heady aromas of lemon curd, nectarine, jasmine and honeysuckle that all gain momentum in the glass. Blackcurrants, violets, lead pencil shavings and a touch of minerality all emerge from this rich, massively concentrated Margaux that still glides across the palate with no sense of weight or heaviness. His family established themselves in Champagne in 1750, and their cellars were built in 1822. The delectable Dilection is based on the incredible 2009 vintage with 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Meunier. Only French oak is used and the vineyard where the grapes are sourced was planted in 1902. Nevertheless, the nose has terrific ripe-fruit expression (a warmer vintage), and the oak fermentation (30%) works well to wrap the exuberant fruit into the mix of more mineral characters. 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Monte Bello ,72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot is simply magnificent. Layers of dark red fruit, flowers, spices and graphite are all woven together in this utterly impeccable wine. The 2009 is an especially huge, intense Monte Bello, yet a sexy, silky core of fruit lies within its imposing frame. Everything comes together in this glorious, radiant wine. Last year the 2009 had some pretty stiff competition from the 2010, but today it is simply firing on all cylinders. Eric Baugher des ...Read More »

2009 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac 12-pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival) Top Pick!
2009 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac 12-pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival)

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Performing even better from bottle than it did from barrel, this appears to be the finest Lynch Bages since the 2000, 1990 and 1989. According to the chateau, the 2009 has the highest level of polyphenols ever measured as well as high alcohol (nearly 13.5%). A blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest largely Merlot with touches of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, it is an expressive, voluptuously textured effort with unctuosity and powerful, juicy, succulent blackberry and black currant flavors, low acids, a ...Read More »

2009 Moët & Chandon "Grand Vintage" Brut Rosé Champagne

94 points Wine Spectator: "A firm, tightly meshed rosé Champagne, with a powerful frame of smoky mineral and acidity swathed in a fine range of wild strawberry, whole-grain toast, kumquat and exotic spice notes that linger on the racy finish. Disgorged February 2017. Drink now through 2030. (AN)" (06/2018) 93 points Vinous: "Interestingly, the 2009 Extra Brut Grand Vintage Rosé is quite a bit tighter and pointed than the Blanc. Here, it is the wine’s energy and tension that stand out most. It will be interesting to see if the 2009 gains a bit more volu ...Read More »

2009 Marcassin "Marcassin Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Pinot Noir Marcassin Vineyard is a gorgeous, clearly California version of a grand cru from Burgundy, such as Clos Saint-Denis or Clos de la Roche. This deep plum/garnet-colored wine offers intense berry fruit along with forest floor, spice box, earth and loads of plum, cherry and strawberry notes, moving toward darker fruits, as well as earthy, autumnal, foresty scents. The wine is full-bodied, with great intensity, sweet tannins and good acidity. Drink it over the next decade or more. (RP)" (08/2015) ...Read More »

2009 Lascombes, Margaux

94 points James Suckling: "Aromas of black tea, blackberries, blueberries and coffee bean, follow through to a full body, with velvety tannins and a juicy finish. Lovely mouth feel. Very well done." (02/2012) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009, which is inky blue/purple to the rim, is a final blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot at 14% natural alcohol. The wine has a beautiful blueberry-scented nose with hints of acacia flowers, licorice, graphite and some subtle charcoal and background oak. Clearly a modern s ...Read More »

2009 Les Forts de Latour, Pauillac 2018 Ex-Chateau Release 6-pack in OWC (Pre-Arrival)

95 points James Suckling: "The aromas are so floral, with currants and blueberries as well. Succulent. Full and very balanced, with super velvety tannins and a long and lovely finish. Frederic Engerer, president of Latour, uses the word "succulent" to describe it. He’s right. I like the word gorgeous as well. Try in 2018, but hard not to drink." (02/2012) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Mint aromas hint at the wood, but more important is the massive Merlot fruit that is an essential element in the blend. The result is a wine that blends richness and power ...Read More »
