1976 Joseph Drouhin Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru "Les Saint Georges" (bin soiled label, past signs of seepage)

Antonio Galloni provides the following snapshot of Domaine Joseph Drouhin: "Drouhin farms 75 hectares of vineyards according to biodynamic principles. Maceration and fermentation lasts about three weeks. The wines are then racked into oak in a cold part of the cellar to slow down the malos...The estate leaves the wines on their lees for several months with one racking, or two if needed, prior to being assembled for bottling. New oak ranges from 25% for the entry-level wines to 50-65% for the grand crus."

1976 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac (high shoulder fill, bin soiled label, depressed cork)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Of the two estates bearing the "Grand-Puy" in their name, it is "Grand-Puy Lacoste" which is graced with most esteem. Much is due to a succession of dedicated owners: Raymond Dupin from 1932 until 1978; then Jean-Eugène and now Xavier Borie. 1976 Robert Mondavi "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Bid on this bottle of 1976 Robert Mondavi "Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (91JG). John Gilman: "The ’76 Mondavi Reserve cabernet was raised in eighty percent new oak and was made from one hundred percent cabernet sauvignon in this vintage, as the cabernet franc and merlot did not do as well in this drought vintage. The drought produced a bit higher alcohol in this bottling, having eventually landed at 13.3 percent. The complex and slightly roasted nose offers up scents of dried cherries, fresh herb tones, saddle leather, woodsmoke, a touch of chipotle pepper and a distinct note of lead pencil in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep and full-bodied, with that telltale elegance of this bottling, lovely vibrancy for a drought year, impressive complexity, melting tannins and very good length and grip on the focused finish. 1976 Bordeaux Tasting Lot
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1976 Bordeaux Tasting Lot, including 1-bottle of 1976 Beychevelle, St-Julien and 1-bottle of 1976 Cos d'Estournel, St-Estèphe. Of the 1976 Beychevelle, St-Julien,Robert Parker's Wine Advocate writes: "Technically, the 1976 Beychevelle is not the most perfect wine. The acidity is low and the pH high, but statistics aside, this wine has retained its immensely enjoyable, plummy, fat, fruity character. I would have thought it to be in decline now, but this seductive effort from Beychevelle continues to provide surprising pleasure." (01/1998)
