Bid on this bottle of 2001 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Auction Mosel (96WS). Wine Spectator: "Piercing scent of slate, then the palate is awash in peach, pear and lime notes, intricately layered in the dense, yet clear texture. Beautifully defined by a firm, well-integrated structure, with an endless finish. (BS)" (03/2003)
Starting Bid: $140.00

Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 2003 Bert Simon Serrig Herrenberg Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese Mosel (375ml) (96WS). Wine Spectator: Cantaloupe, honey and candied lemon aromas and flavors mark this racy TBA. The combination of acidity and sweetness is intense, offsetting each other with a sweet-tart impression. Terrific finish. Drink now through 2035. 25 cases imported. (BS) (03/2005)
Starting Bid: $135.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2001 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel Mosel. With its steep, grapevine-spiked slopes composed of pure, weathered devon slate soils, Wehlener Sonnenuhr is one of the Mosel's most iconic vineyards. Dr. Manfred Prüm made very favorable comparisons of the 2001s to 1990 and 1999, but with riper more compact acidity and minimal botrytis (except in the GKA). Fermented with indigenous yeast, this is intense, packed with tropical fruit aromas and flavors with tell-tale smoky, petrol notes. It has a long life ahead. 97 points from Jean Fisch and David Rayer for Mosel Fine Wines: "This offers a bright yellow color and a most beautiful nose of yellow peach, mango, passion fruit and white flowers. Far from being powerful, this has the delineation of a Spätlese, with the complexity and depth of a great feine Auslese. " (04/2011)
Starting Bid: $315.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1990 Joh. Jos. Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese Mosel. Just upstream from the famed Wehlener Sonnenuhr is the Graacher Himmelreich. With deeper, richer soils, this site is a little less steep and its southwest exposure ensures the wines from this site always have a racy and juicy acid background that really makes the wines sing.
Starting Bid: $300.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2003 Willi Schaefer Graacher Domprobst Riesling Spätlese #9 (94RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Apples, limestone, and white flowers are found in the nose of the 2003 Riesling Spatlese Graacher Domprobst A.P. #0904. Armed with awesome breadth, this ample, medium-bodied wine bursts forth with crystalline freshness and verve. Loads of quartz, tea, and pear-laced minerals can be detected in its complex, pure, exceptionally long personality. Projected maturity: 2006-2022. Bravo to Willi Schaefer for having crafted such beauties!" (10/2004)
Starting Bid: $120.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1990 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese Goldkapsel Mosel (98WS, (94-95JG)). Wine Spectator: "Packed with fruit, minerals, acidity and sweetness, this masterpiece still needs time to show its best. The honeylike botrytis aromas are still undeveloped, but the intensity and brilliance of flavor are already stunning. Decades of aging potential." (03/1994)
Starting Bid: $330.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2001 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese Mosel (94JG). John Gilman: "The 2001 Spätlese AP #25 from the Wehlener Sonnenuhr is a bit young by my rule of thumb of twenty years for this vineyard site, but the wine is starting to drink awfully well at age fourteen. The beautiful and vibrant nose jumps from the glass in a blaze of pear, vanilla bean, bee pollen, a lovely base of slate, blossoming notes of tangerine, fresh almond, white lilies and a nice touch of currant leaf in the upper register. On the palate the wine is medium-full, pure and intensely flavored, with a lovely core of fruit, excellent acidity, superb filigree and a very long, complex and dancing finish. This wine is just on the cusp of its plateau of peak maturity, but will be here for another quarter of a century, so there is no reason to hurry to drink this wine any time soon!" (05/2014)
Starting Bid: $280.00
