Bid on this magnum of 2014 Pichon-Lalande, Pauillac (1.5L) (95JD, 95VN, 94WS, 93JS, 93RP). Vinous: "The 2014 Pichon Lalande has the edge over Pichon Baron a few months ago. It is a tight race but here Pichon Lalande edges it. It has a wonderful, complex, intense bouquet with blackberry, briary, graphite and mint – just a straight-down-the-line Pauillac with all the aristocratic flair you look for. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, layers of pure black fruit laced with graphite and mint. It is blessed with a satin-like texture, not a hair out of place from start to finish, with a long, persistent aftertaste that completes a fabulous wine for the vintage. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, coming from five different blocks, and was harvested "in multiple picks, at a leisurely pace." Deep garnet-purple colored, it rolls sensuously out of the glass with decadent scents of boysenberries, black cherries, redcurrant jelly and blackcurrant pastilles with hints of bouquet garni, black soil and iron ore. Full-bodied, the taut, tightly knit black and red fruit has a firm structure of ripe, grainy tannins and bags of freshness, finishing very long with loads of earth and mineral nuances coming through. Vinous: "The 2016 Lynch Bages has a wonderfully perfumed bouquet of intense black fruit laced with pencil lead, cigar box and incense aromas that soar from the glass, all displaying impressive delineation. Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 2017 Belle Pente Estate Reserve Yamhill-Carlton Pinot Noir (1.5L). David Schildknecht of Wine Advocate writes: An (as he puts it) “out of control” hobby winemaker, Brian O’Donnell and his wife Jill began planting their impressively-situated and manifestly impeccably manicured vineyard just east of Carlton (which I visited only briefly and not as part of my meeting with O’Donnel) in 1994, two years after a six month search that almost found them purchasing the Archery Summit home site. A significant share of fruit for Belle Pente wines still comes from other sources, Bella Vida and Murto vineyards being the most conspicuous, the latter subject to single-vineyard bottling since 1996.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Available in magnums only, the deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon The GTO needs a little coaxing to reveal slowly unfurling notes of blackcurrant preserves, blackberry pie, fruitcake and molten licorice with suggestions of chocolate-covered cherries, wild sage, cedar chest and fragrant earth. Full-bodied, the palate is seductively generous, featuring bold black fruit preserves and a firm, grainy foundation with an underpinning of soft, beautifully balanced acidity, finishing on a long-lingering exotic spice note. Vinous: "The 2016 Canon La Gaffelière is just as striking from bottle as it was from barrel. Bright, intensely aromatic and precise, the 2016 has it all. Sweet red cherry, pomegranate, blood orange and rose petal all race through this silky, super-expressive Saint-Émilion. In 2016, Canon La Gaffelière is especially polished, refined and nuanced, which means also less overly powerful than in the past. It was compelling both times I tasted it from bottle. Bid on this magnum of 1995 Tenuta dell'Ornellaia "Ornellaia" Bolgheri Superiore (1.5L) (95VN, 94JS). Vinous: "One of the biggest surprises of the night, the 1995 Ornellaia is superb. The 1995 has long been one of my favorite vintages of Ornellaia. It is also a wine I have followed since the beginning. Over the last few years, though, the wine has begun to fray and show its age. The 1995 was made during an earlier era, before Ornellaia introduced Le Serre Nuove, the estate’s second wine, and increased the selection for the flagship wine. On this evening, from magnum, the 1995 is superb. Lifted, gracious and remarkably fresh, the 1995 is utterly sublime. (AG)" (01/2017)

Superripe aromas of redcurrant, bitter cherry, tobacco, roasted nuts and dried herbs. Juicy, tightly wound and minerally, with a faint medicinal quality. Intensely flavored and still fresh but ungiving; it hard to imagine this wine becoming more pliant with additional bottle aging. Finishes with slightly dry-edged tannins. (ST)" (09/2002)

Bid on this 2-magnum lot of 2015 Domaine du Pégau Cuvée Réservée Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (96JD, 96RP, 96WE, (93-95VN), 94WS, 93W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: Now that it has been in bottle a while, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Reservee is looking even better than I projected based on last year's prebottling sample. It's all violets, cherries, subtle allspice and clove and traditional garrigue notes of lavender and thyme. Full-bodied and rich, it's crazy complex, adding hints of tar and black olives on the long, silky finish. (JC) (08/2018)

Allen Meadows - Burghound: Moderate wood influence sets off a ripe combination of plum, violet and spice aromas that introduce mineral-inflected, pure and gorgeously intense medium weight flavors that possess plenty of that beguiling underlying tension that imparts a sense of verve to the delicious, mouth coating and admirably well-balanced finale. Bid on this magnum of 2012 Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan (1.5L) (96JD, 96RP, 96VN, 94DC, 94JS, 94WE, 93WS). Vinous: "The 2012 Haut Bailly is quite fragrant and inviting. Dark raspberries, mint, crushed flowers, spices and rose petals all lift from the glass in this feminine, gracious Haut-Bailly that offers considerable near and medium-term appeal. All the elements fall into place in an effortless, stunningly beautiful wine endowed with personality and class. One of the wines of the vintage, the Haut Bailly will drink well for two decades-plus. This is a superb showing from proprietor Bob Wilmers and his team headed by Véronique Sanders. The decision to lower temperatures in fermentation and go for a soft, gentle extraction, along with strict selection has paid off big time. (AG)" (01/2016)

Bid on this magnum of 2013 Ridge Vineyards "Monte Bello" Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (100DC, 100JS, 100RP, 98VN, 95WS, 94W&S). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Monte Bello is a very special vintage for this great wine. Amazingly, it has yet to shut down, unfurling in the glass to reveal a bouquet of black raspberries, cassis, rich espresso roast, cigar wrapper, subtle black truffle and burning embers that has already integrated its 100% new oak remarkably completely. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, powerful and multidimensional, with a lavishly textural attack that segues into a stunningly layered, richly structured mid-palate endowed with incredible depth and concentration underpinned by succulent acids. The finish is long, vibrant and beautifully delineated. The 2013 is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot, and it attained 13.6% natural alcohol.
