A classic made from raw demerara sugar in Guyana, this bottling is historically relevant because Lemon Hart was the original supplier of rum to the British Royal Navy. It packs a wallop, but mix it up in an authentic punch and you'll be happy you did. Currently sold out everywhere. Tiki bars like Smuggler's Cove in SF are buying dozens of cases to use as the foundation for their drinks. After this batch it may not be seen again for some time.

Pekut and Carwick is a tiny independent bottler focused on transparency in their excellent bottlings. This delightful "Bulk Rum" isn't trying to hide a thing. A hint of something akin to rancio and a touch of 'cognac funk' make it intriguing, while fruity esters of apricot and apple add a pleasant twist....

Back in the US, I missed that clean, fresh flavor of aged molasses-based rum that had been carbon-filtered to remove the color gained during a few years spent aging in oak barrels in the tropics. In addition to the fresh flavor of the rum there was also a slight coconut note generally attributed to the American oak barrels in which these rums were aged. Like so many things those rums that I enjoyed in the '90s a...

Ed Hamilton, the self-appointed Minister of Rum, is bottling excellent and affordable rum from throughout the Caribbean under his namesake brand. This lovely Demarara is meant to compete with the El Dorado rums from the same distillery, but it doesn't have any sugar added! This should be a go to for any home bartender looking for a workhorse base for most rum drinks and stands up well neat or on the rocks as well.
