Ventisquero is one of Chile’s most diverse and dynamic wine estates with vineyard sites in each of the country’s most established regions, but its story is one of dogged, bootstrapped determination and vision. From a single planting of Cabernet to becoming one of Chile’s largest estates two decades later, Ventisquero has blazed an enviable trail. Talented winemakers benefit from the tutelage of Australia’s inimitable John Duval in making quintessential wines of place. This Cabernet is sourced from the estate’s original planting, the Trinidad vineyard in ...

2020 Laberinto "Cenizas de Laberinto" Sauvignon Blanc Maule Valley
Top Pick!
95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "2020 was a cool vintage in Colbun, and the 2020 Cenizas de Laberinto Sauvignon Blanc shows it with vibrant acidity and flavors, a very young white with electric minerality and a dry finish. This is still extremely young, and my experience with older vintage tells me the wine is going to develop magnificently in bottle. This fermented at low temperature in stainless steel, where the wine was kept with the lees for eight months. Right now it's sharp and pungent and should get more polished with time in bottle. (LG)...

2019 Lapostolle "Cuvée Alexandre - Apalta Vineyard" Cabernet Sauvignon Colchagua Valley
Top Pick!
94 points James Suckling: "Very pretty currant, blackberry and floral aromas and flavors. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, silky tannins and a chewy finish. Give it two or three years to soften." (03/2021) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I was surprised by the varietal purity of the 2019 Cuvée Alexandre Cabernet Sauvignon despite being blended with some 9% Carménère, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, which probably adds complexity and more Bordeaux character to the bottled wine. But it also has Chilean character, balsamic and round,...

92 points Vinous: "The 2020 Sauvignon Blanc Costa La Flor comes from Colchagua Costa and presents a pale, steely yellow profile in the glass, while the aromas include lime, rue, grapefruit and gunpowder. Featuring good fat in the mouth and heightened freshness, it ends with a lime-infused finish. A profound, flavorful white with a tropical kick. Very competitive at the price. (JH)" (05/2021) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The citrus-driven 2020 La Flor Costa Sauvignon Blanc reflects the salinity of the sea, which is only nine kilometers away...

2018 Garage Wine Company "Vigno" Carignane Maule Valley
Back In Stock!
99 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are three Carignan/Cariñena wines from the same vineyard in Truquilemu in 2018, and the 2018 Vigno comes from a section further down along the creek where there's terrific drainage and thus low yield and concentration. It's Carignan with smidgens of País and Monastrell in the field blend, the grapes grown by a mall farmer by hand and horse with traditional methods of dry-farming, uncertified organic for 75+ years. Like all the rest, it fermented in open-top vats with indigenous yeasts and matured in used ba...

Los Lingues is in the Easternmost part of the Colchagua Valley and the base of the Andes Mountains.
Price: $19.99

91 points James Suckling: "Sliced apple, pear and flint on the nose with a hint of white pepper. It’s medium-bodied with bright, tangy acidity. Focused, mineral expression. " (05/2021) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2020 Cariblanco Sauvignon Blanc has notes of white fruit and citrus, moderate alcohol and good freshness, coming through as balanced and refreshing. It's clean and tasty, very pleasant. (LG)" (08/2021)
Price: $21.99

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is from an early harvest and contains 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec. It comes from clay-rich soils that provide roundness. It fermented in stainless steel with selected yeasts and matured in French oak barrels for one year. It has very good varietal definition and is balanced and elegant, following the house style. It has fine tannins and good freshness and is a notable improvement in this vineyard planted in 1997. 50,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2019...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Tobiano Pinot Noir follows the style of the 2016—lighter and fresher, with a clean and attractive nose of red berries and faint spices with a herbal twist. The palate is elegant, medium-bodied and fresh, with very fine tannins, clean and focused flavors, fleshy fruit, moderate alcohol and very good acidity. (LG)" (02/2020) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Lightly herbal red fruit aromas are textbook for Pinot Noir, while this feels medium in body. Spiced raspberry and watermelon flavors are restrained and t...

2019 Seña Red Blend Valle de Aconcagua (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
98 points James Suckling: "Such beautiful aromas of crushed berries, currants, walnuts, allspice and nutmeg follow through to a full body with tight, ultra fine tannins that provide length and intensity. A finish of slightly dried cherries with wet earth, slate and stone. Chewy and fine-grained. A wine with soul and length. Give it time. Drink after 2025. " (03/2021) 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Seña was produced with a Bordeaux blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Malbec, 15% Carmenere and 4% Petit Verdot with the Chilean charact...

Viña Tarapacá was found in 1874 in the foothills of the Andes in what would become the Maipo Valley. The Estate is in a very special location, surrounded by the foothills on all but on side and on that there is the Maipo river. The soils are of volcanic origin with some alluvial deposits. In the last decade they have made significant moves towards sustainability, organics and biodiversity. This is a Bordeaux inspired blend with a decidedly Chilean twist. It is mostly Cabernet Franc and Carmenere with a good portion of Syrah and a touch of Cabernet S...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The red blend 2019 Pencopolitano was produced with 50% Cinsault and 50% País from old vines on granite and basalt soils. It fermented with 60% full clusters and was bottled at 12.5% alcohol after 10 months in oak and concrete vats. This is perfumed and ethereal, going more in the direction of Imaginador, with more finesse and sharper than previous years and with more País, going for a much more serious wine. The palate is vibrant and austere with pristine flavors. (LG)" (08/2021) K&L Notes: Pedro Parra is best ...

2017 Caliterra "Edicion Limitada A" Colchagua Valley
Top Pick!
92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are three red blends from the Edición Limitada range, each coded with the meaning of the blend. This includes the 2017 Edición Limitada A, where A stands for Andes, meaning it is a blend of typical Andes varieties—69% Malbec and 31% Carmenere. 2017 was warm, and the grapes ripened up to 20 days earlier than normal. So, the wines kept a lot of freshness and moderate alcohol. The grapes come from the Caliterra vineyards in Colchagua and fermented in a combination of stainless steel (68%) and used barriques (3...

Located South of Concepcion this is one of the first placed to cultivate European grapes in the Americas. The two oldest and still propagated are Pais and Moscatel. This Pais was 100% destemmed, saw 3 day cold maceration, and after fermentation it was racked into Foudre. What is special about the Gulp! Wines are their typicity and accessibility.

2018 Garage Wine Company "Sauzal Vineyard - Lot 95" Red Blend Maule Valley
Top Pick!
96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The Sauzal Vineyard is now in the DO Empedrado, and I tasted two of the vintages, starting with the 2018 Sauzal Vineyard, a field blend of Cariñena, Garnacha and Monastrell from grower Nivaldo Morales, which Garage's Derek Mossman described as "a universe of perfume, earth and spice." About the blend, the old bush vines that have been worked by horse and following the moon cycles in ancestral ways, he also explained that "over the last 10 harvests in Sauzal, the wine has changed its varietal composition. First it...

90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Cota 500 is pure Cabernet Sauvignon from Cachapoal from a warm year that saw an early harvest of the alluvial vineyards. It fermented with indigenous yeasts and matured in used French barrels for 11 months. The wine is 13.7% alcohol, and it seems to have some more acidity than the previous year I tasted. It feels very fruit-driven, with the oak perfectly integrated with the fruit, and it has classical notes of graphite. There is a stony sensation on the palate that is more a texture than a flavor. 24,000...

98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "In 2018, they bottled three Cariñena-based wines from Truquilemu in Empedrado (now a DO) in Maule. The 2018 Truquilemu Vineyard, they reckon, is more focused, sultry and ethereal than ever. It comes from 1.3 hectares and fermented with more full clusters and with a dash of Syrah (around 4%) in the field blend. By taking away the part bottled as Cru Truquilemu, this has become more ethereal. The 2018, an extraordinary vintage, has less alcohol (12.8%), more flavor and, most of all, greater depth with more layers t...

This wine is a blend of 80% Pais and 20% Carignan from the southern Maule region of Chile and is made in an old style called Pipeño. The wine is light in color with bright notes of crushed raspberry, wild strawberry, and rose petals that lead into underlying hints of dried herbs, mint leaves, fennel and thyme. This fruit driven, easy drinking wine with a bit of animale has fresh acid with low tannin and can be enjoyed with a slight chill.

2019 Garage Wine Company "Renacido Vineyard - Lot 104" Cabernet Sauvignon Maule Valley
Top Pick!
96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The incredibly perfumed 2019 Renacido Vineyard has nothing to do with the Renacidos from the past... Their explanation is as follows: "We started making Cabernet Sauvignon in Maule on the banks of the Perquilauquen River. It was a little heavy-set, perhaps husky, 'large boned.' So we went back to the drawing board and spent two years searching for something more particular, fresher, with finer bones. 2017-2018 came and went without commercial release, and then we found her... southeast of Cauquenes on Coastal Ran...

92 points James Suckling: "A medium-bodied red with aromas of currants, fresh plums, lemon zest and green tea. Fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity and a saline, savory finish. Juicy. Drink now." (04/2021) 91 points Vinous: "The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Legado, from the Maipo Valley, was aged for a year in barrels and foudres. Purplish red in the glass. The nose presents notes of black currant and blueberry at first, followed by gentle spicy layers. In the mouth, it’s full of flavor with a terse texture, fine tannins and an easygoing flow. 91 points Decanter: "This organic, Bordeaux-inspired blend (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carmenère) showcases an extravagant red fruit character. Enticing raspberry, cherry and liquorice aromas give way to a medium-bodied, layered palate of savoury spice, textured tannins, well-integrated oak and focused berry fruit. (SS)" (09/2020) 90 points Vinous: "The 2017 Primus The Blend is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Carménère, 10% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, 5% Syrah, and 5% Cabernet Franc from Apalta, Colchagua Valley, aged for 12 months in French fo...

2019 De Martino "Vigno Old Vines" Carignane Maule Valley
Top Pick!
97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Vigno had a spectacular and ever-changing nose from the moment I uncorked it. It started with some meaty notes and slowly started developing subtle nuances of roasted coffee, milk with cinnamon and herbs. It has a vibrant palate that makes it feel light and medium-bodied even at 14% alcohol, but the very low pH (3.32) and remarkable acidity (6.38 grams of tartaric acid) clearly lift it up. This is delicious, a wine that never fails to amaze me. It matured in 2,500- and 5,000-liter oak foudres and barriqu...

93 points James Suckling: "Bright red berries, as well as red-apple notes here. Leafy and smoky notes on offer, too. The palate has quite a crunchy, powerful hit of ripe blue fruit and fresh tannin. Impressive purity. " (02/2020) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is spicy and creamy with some strict tannins with good ripeness,14.4% alcohol and mellow acidity. Concentrated and juicy with a pleasant herbal hint." (04/2021) 91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Lucero Syrah is the first bottling from the new style I have tasted, and what a change! It has a Northern Rhône profile with intense aromas of tapenade, violets, smoked bacon and tar. It's pungent but with a sense of lightness that I like very much. There's no t...

Malleco is one of the Southernmost wine growing regions of Chile. It is a cool climate region, think Burgundy 50 years ago but with a little more rain and volcanic soils rather than marine sediment. Like Burgundy, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the stars of the region. Tayu is a joint project with San Pedro winery and the indigenous people of the region. It is a very empowering story, which we cannot do justice to in this small space, but please seek out the story. The grapes were fermented in concrete and stainless steel, 15% was done whole cluster. ...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "I like the slightly reductive style of the 2020 País 215 BC Ferment, and they told me they had been "working with more than a dozen families in the neighborhood and have found old vine País vineyards with many different subsoils. Most are granite but altered and varied, and this has been our laboratory in these years." It's varietal, pale and delicate with a round palate and polished tannins. Uncertified organic vineyards for 75+ years. 6,300 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2021 after one winter in v...

(02/2020) 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There is a lot of restraint and elegance in the 2019 Alazan Pinot Noir, selected from their best plots and fermented with indigenous yeasts and full clusters in search of freshness. It matured in a combination of concrete eggs, French oak barrels and 2,000-liter foudres, never new. This is a lovely style of Pinot Noir...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Trane was named after John Coltrane, one of the most disruptive and creative jazz musicians ever. It was produced with Cinsault from an old vineyard in the Tinajacura zone of Guarilihue where the soils have lots of quartz and deliver vertical wines with complexity. It fermented with 60% to 70% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in an oak vat for 10 months. This is vibrant and very balanced, with the same perfume as the others. The 2019 feels superb, well above previous vintages, edgy with co...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The single-vineyard Cinsault 2019 Monk was named after jazz musician, Thelonius Monk, who Pedro Parra describes as "complex and innovative." In 2019, the grapes from these old vines in Guarilihue, which are planted on red granite soils with plenty of silt, fermented with 60% to 70% full clusters, and the wine matured in a combination of oak and concrete vats for 10 months. This is the one from red soils, the one with more iron, which means in the past there was more water; and the soils keep a little more water, ...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Hub was named after jazz trumpet player Freddie Hubbard because the wine comes from a higher and rockier place in the village of Guarilihue and Parra considers Hubbard the most audacious of the trumpet players. The dry-farmed vines were planted 40 years ago in the higher part of Guarilihue on rocky granite soils with lots of silt and quartz and less sand. It fermented in concrete tanks with 60% full clusters and indigenous yeasts, then the wine matured in concrete vat. This time I felt the wine was more ...

Rich style. 65% cabernet, 26% carmenere, 5% cabernet franc, 3% syrah and 1% merlot. Showing some age now. Drink or hold." (07/2015) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2007 Sena has a lovely ripe bouquet of blackberry, blueberry and graphite that is well defined and still youthful. This shows far more purity than the older vintages. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, ...

92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There's more and more information on the bottle of the wines, and the 2020 Old Vine Pale now mentions rosé(!) Truquilemu Vineyard Half a hectare and DO Empedrado, an appellation in Maule. All of their labels are so very informative, fun and amusing, and reading them makes you want to drink the wine and even know and support his peasant farmers. And on this 2020, it says Cariñena Monastrell instead of the Cariñena Mataró from previous vintages. But what he told me was even better, "The world has grown up, and the ...

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There's also a 2019 Miles, dedicated, as you can guess, to Miles Davis, produced with grapes from an old vineyard in the zone of Guarilihue in Itata. In Parra's opinion, it's the most complete and balanced of the ones he vinifies, very decomposed granite, very rocky with a little iron and sandy clay texture. The wine was vinified with 100% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in an oak vat for 10 months. This and the Newk are the grand crus, different labels and different prices. To Parra, this is Vosn...

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There is a new single-vineyard Cinsault, the 2019 Newk, named for Sonny Rollins Newk. Parra describes him as the wildest jazz musician of recent times, so he named this wine for him, as he finds it to be wild, full of energy and minerality. It was produced with grapes from an old vineyard in Guarilihue that is worked by horse, from vines planted on decomposed and rocky granite soils with some iron and a sandy and silty texture. The grapes fermented with 100% full clusters after four or five days with native yeast...

2018 Clos Apalta Bordeaux Blend Colchagua Valley

98 points James Suckling: "So aromatic and fresh with dried flowers, sweet tobacco and hints of straw. Red fruit, cloves and green peppercorns. Medium-to full-bodied with fine tannins that are very fresh and refined. Fine, silky and beautiful. Hints of minerals and granite to the dark fruit. Such gorgeous length and beauty. Extremely long and poised. Cooler wine. From biodynamically grown grapes." 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Domus Aurea is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot that shows the textbook minty and stony character from the place. It fermented in a very traditional way with indigenous yeasts and matured in French barriques, mostly new, for 16 to 18 months. The wine is ripe and powerful, to the point that the oak seems to be absorbed almost immediately. This feels a bit riper when tasted next to the 2018. It's expressive and open with a more extrovert personality. It's...

93 points Wine & Spirits: "Winemaker Enrique Tirado has been studying the Don Melchor vineyard in the Alto Maipo since 1997, dividing its 281 acres into plots according to fertility. He started with four; now there are more than a hundred, from which he blended this sophisticated and luscious red. When first poured, it's fresh and full of blackberry and raspberry aromas, then the spice and mineral tones get deeper as the wine gains texture and brightness. Sweet and juicy with crisp acidity, this is a brilliant Don Melchor, and one of the best Chilean win...

(04/2021) Jancis Robinson: "Herbal, pea pod, grassy, citrus, but also with a gentle stony/reductive edge, more stony than the La Cantera. Dry, finely grained texture. Deep in fruit but also in that herbal character, texture increases the already marked freshness and gives it more complexity. Might age a little better than the La Cantera, though you'd need to keep it to find out...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The thing with the very pale and subtle 2018 Parcela La Totora was love at first sight. It comes from a very small plot of extremely old Criolla Chica vines that produced an unusually pale red (some would call it a rosé), super aromatic, floral, perfumed, expressive and captivating. It was superbly textured, with unusual finesse and chalky tannins that make you salivate. It's long, tasty, clean and delicious and among the best Criolla Chica/País/Listán Prieto I have ever tasted. 96 points Decanter: "Such incredible aromatics on this wine, so much going on. Wildly perfumed, like wild meadow flowers with cherry, leather, coffee and blackcurrant. Smooth and coursing, this is evocative - pulsing with life and energy. The fruit is bright yet rich with mint-edged tannins that support the fruit and overall structure. You get these lovely mature tertiary aromas on the nose but then such youth still on the palate. Feels like a great time to drink this to enjoy the plump and still lively fruit with the tannins that are supportive, smooth ...

Cigar box and forest floor accents show midpalate, with dusty minerality on the finish. (KM)" (05/2020) K&L Notes: This is Mountain Cabernet from Chile. It is sourced from two sites. The first is from Los Lingues with in the the Andes and the second is in the coastal ranges in Marchigue. The former bring depth and richness and the later brings structure and fine tannins.

The palate pops with classic Carignan acidity but is balanced with ripe dark red fruits and easy tannins.
