2004 Viña Cobos "Marchiori Vineyard" Malbec Mendoza
Back In Stock!
98 points Wine Advocate: "The super-expressive 2004 Cobos Malbec Marchiori Vineyard is opaque purple/black in color. Its perfume of toasty oak, mineral, lavender, blueberry, and black cherry is very sexy and leads to a complex, spicy, rich, chewy wine which also manages to combine elegance and power. Its length and superb balance suggest another eight years of cellaring with a drinking window from 2016 to 2040. (JM)" (12/2008) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Very muscular, with lots of bacony toast and coffee leading the way for dark, ripe layers of currant...

100 points James Suckling: "A complex, restrained and deliciously austere cabernet franc with damp earth, oyster shells, blueberries, thyme, rosemary and mushrooms. Super serious and chalky on the palate with lots of dissolved, minerally-textured tannins. Very long and uncompromising! An incredible cabernet franc from Gualtallary by Alejandro Vigil. Extremely pure, mineral and seductive. A fabulous cabernet franc that grows on the palate with remarkable tension and texture. I’d want to drink a bottle now even it can hold extremely well. 98 points Wine Advocate: "The 2014 Adrianna Vineyard River Stones is the second vintage of the Malbec from the stonier part of the Adrianna Vineyard in Gualtallary that is next to a dry river bed (the vineyard has 110 hectares that were planted in 1994). It fermented in open-top 500-liter oak barrels with full clusters. It was pressed before the end of fermentation, and it then finished fermenting without skins (like a white) and matured in 1,800-liter oak foudre for 18 months. It's a compact, super serious Malbec with concentration and power, great bala...

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2018 Catena Zapata "Nicolas Catena Zapata" Cabernet Sauvignon-Malbec Mendoza (OWC - 96DC, 96JS, 96VN) in original wood. Vinous: "A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec (35%) made from 210 micro-productions whose end result is approved by Nicolás Catena. A kind of summation of a long history, the grapes come from specific parcels of vineyards that Catena planted in the Uco Valley and Luján. The results are breathtaking. Purple in the glass with garnet flecks, this wine delivers layers of aroma, beginning with black currant and moving on to intense, precise notes of lavender and mint along with hints of black tea, sage and cigar box. In the mouth, austerity vies for supremacy with sheer power, a balance overseen by polished, grippy tannins placed into relief by a well-judged freshness that keeps the whole package light on its feet. (JH)" (10/2020)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2019 Catena Zapata "Argentino" Malbec Mendoza (99JS, 96RP, 95DC, 95VN). James Suckling: "This is made from over 100-year-old vineyards and offers blackberries with blue fruit and dark chocolate. Shows bark and black truffle undertones, too. Tight and more focused than in past vintages. The quality of the tannins is more precise and fine. Blackberries and black truffles at the end. " (03/2021)
