2005 Undisclosed Jamaica 17 Year Old "Golden Devil" K&L Exclusive Single Barrel Jamaican Rum (700ml)
This phenomenal barrel of rum will forever be a mystery. Wild speculation exists about its source and the bottler has absolutely zero information from the source about its marque. Those circumstances are highly unusual considering the quality and character of the rum in question. But, if you notice similar batches out there, there are only a handful of distillers that could supply this rum. Worthy Park, we've had others from the vintage and they have always included the blenders marque. The distillery was only selling in bulk at the time and their stocks...

Just when you think you've tasted every type of booze known to man, you discover that there are more regionally specific spirits being distilled in places you've never considered. Take Bolivia, where they make a pisco-like spirit called Singani, distilled from Muscat of Alexandria grapes grown high in the Andes mountains. Muscat is an aromatic varietal, known for its fruity and floral character, and the Singani spirit takes on many of the perfumes found in the expressive grape. The result is a clean and vibrant brandy that drinks like something in betwee...

Beer Advocate ranks the Drie Fonteinen Golden Blend Oude Geuze 99 points. *World Class* The lovely Valley of the Senne is one of the only places (together with the Pajottenland) where Lambik, Kriek and Geuze are still brewed in the traditional manner. Notes from Shelton Brothers, the importer: "Drie Fonteinen is the only remaining traditional geuze blender in Belgium, using only 100% spontaneously fermented lambic beer, aged in oak casks with no artificial sweeteners or other additives. The blendery is connected to the very popular Drie Fonteinen Restaur...

The Rivers Antoine Estate is one of the oldest and most traditional rum estates in the world. Founded on the northeast coast of Grenada in 1785, the estate produces extremely limited quantities in the most ancient tradition. The cane is harvest from 15 hectares of organically farmed fields grown on the shores of the Caribbean ocean. Hand cut and crushed by watermill built in 1840, no more than 3000 Liters of fresh cane juice are processed each day. Without the aid of modern technology, or electricity for that matter, the juice is concentrated in metal pa...

92 points Descorchados : "This is now the third vintage of these vines, the first albariño from Marichal, planted in 2019, and we at Descorchados have liked it since its first vintage, the 2021. This 2023 offers an herbal and citrusy side with soft touches of ripe fruits and a body dominated by bright acidity. It's unoaked, a pure expression of the variety grown on the clay and limestone soils of Echevarría, in Canelones." (01/2024)

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "One of the most iconic Trappist beers, this pours a gorgeous golden-orange color, with a large, frothy off-white head that lingers. Bottled with brettanomyces, you can immediately pick up on the wonderfully complex, dry, funky earth and barnyard notes, with additional aromas of orange peel, green apple, gingered white tea, yeasty spice and freshly baked bread. The medium-bodied mouthfeel boasts bright, fizzy carbonation and refreshing acidity, making the palate seem light and approachable. It finishes dry and spicy, with flavo...

98 points Wine Enthusiast: " This is wheat-forward, with a soft, country malt aroma that is like getting lost in a vast field shortly before harvest. It is blended from seven different Lambic barrels and aged in oak. This was bottled in September 2017 and the brewery says it is best enjoyed before October 2038. Good luck waiting that long. The intangibles of this beer will have the mind racing and lulled by its grace at the same time. *Top 5 Beers of 2021* (JH)" (03/2021) K&L Notes: Drie Fonteinen Oude Geuze Cuvée Armand & Gaston is a geuze released in...

"The Gueuze Tilquin à l’ancienne (6.4% alc / vol) is a spontaneous fermentation beer obtained from the blending of 1, 2 and 3 years old lambics. Unfiltered and unpasteurized, it is re-fermented in the bottle for a minimum period of 6 months. The lambics used were fermented and matured in our own oak barrels at the blendery. They are made from worts brewed by Boon, Lindemans, Girardin and Cantillon. The taste is tart and dry but has a certain roundness that makes this Gueuze à l’ancienne particularly accessible for non-experts. It will also delight fans o...

90-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "*Superb/Highly Recommended; One of Top 50 Spirits of 2009* Smells nicely of sweet grass, paraffin, acetate and wheat crackers; aeration bolsters the aromatic impressions of the first round and adds a subtle spiciness (nutmeg?) that complements the grassy quality. Palate entry teems with zesty, spicy, medicinal and grassy flavors; midpalate flavors come off chocolaty and milky, with disparate background tastes of egg cream and green pepper." From the brewery: "A few times in the history of craft beer it has happened that a highly praised beer rises beyond mortal stardom into a higher godly league. Usually the recipe to make such heavenly drops is thick fudge-like body, pitch black color, amazingly overwhelming aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits and muscovado sugar, obviously only made in limited amounts and most crucial of all - it must taste rare!"

This fun gulpable red is the traditional glou glou wine of Morava. The style is known locally as Rysak and is always a blend of at least one red grape and one white. This one by local vigneron Jarsolav Osicka is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Pinot Gris. The grapes are all whole cluster and are macerated together for 4 days and then fermented. This is fun, juicy "red" that is meant to be fun, fresh and served with a light chill. *Natural Wine*

92 points James Suckling: "Subtle aromas of green mangoes and lemon rind with some minerals and blossom honey. Medium- to full-bodied with a tight center palate and a creamy texture that runs long and true. Lemon and melon in the finish. Drink now." (02/2024) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is an expressive Albariño, with lively aromas of white flowers, lime, honeydew and sage. Good acidity lifts ripe lemon, peaches, and orange zest on the palate. It has a lingering finish with hints of dried herbs. (JV)" (07/2024)

92 points James Suckling: "Rich but fresh on the nose with a hint of cigar box to the blackberries, dark cherries and roasted spices. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate with firm, lightly chewy tannins and a juicy, flavorful center palate. Pretty long in the finish. Needs a year or two to let the tannins soften more." (04/2023) K&L Notes: Bodega Garzon has recently been recognized as one of the world's best vineyards. Located 11 miles from the East Coast not too far from the Capital Montevideo. 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "#10 of top 25 beers of 2015. Cinnamon, dark dried fruits, caramel squares and malty sweetness dance around the moderately intense nose. The mouth is big and very concentrated with medium-high carbonation and flavors of granulated brown sugar, molasses, baked apples and caramelized figs. Very filling with a lot of complexity; the more it warms, the more depth of flavors it shows. A beautiful example of the style: fantastically balanced, decadent and sure to age gracefully." The incredible history of Chinese of fermenting Sorghum and other grains for alcohol production is thousands of years old. There's evidence that those grains were being distilled as early as 800 BC. Modern Baijiu production begins in earnest around the 13th century. The biggest difference between grain alcohol production in China and Europe in terms of technology has to do with the use of solid state fermentation. Instead of using enzymes from malting grain, the Chinese developed a system of bacteria fermentation (much like Koji in Sake production), but ...

96-100 points Wine Enthusiast: "Aroma is dry, clean, and grainy, with background notes of parchment and litchi; later passes offer semisweet, mildly smoky/ashy scents of charcoal and smoldering embers.
