Agnes Cade and her father, Henri Gaussen, cultivate the 14 sunny hectares of Château de la Noblesse, an estate that has been in their family for generations. Their zesty rosé is a blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cinsault, and makes a great companion to spicy, saffron-infused dishes. Try it with a Spanish paella for the perfect summer meal.

90 points Wine Advocate: "Half Mourvèdre, with the balance equal parts Cinsault and Grenache, the 2020 Bandol Rose is a pale, copper-hued wine. Smelling of peaches, tangerines and lime zest, it's a bright, lively example of the appellation. Medium-bodied, yet lithe and refreshing, with a crisp, invigorating finish, it seems almost briny in character. (JC)" (07/2021) 90 points Vinous: "Light, vivid orange. Lively, spice-tinged red berry and orange zest aromas pick up floral and succulent herb nuances with air. Chewy and penetrating on the palate, offeri...

96 points Wine Advocate: "The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Tintot (100% Mourvedre) comes close to equaling Manfred Krankl and Philippe Cambie’s debut release of Chimere, which is also virtually all Mourvedre. If you can not find Chimere on retailers’ shelves, check out the 2010 Le Tintot as there are about 2,000 bottles produced. An amazing expression of fully ripe Mourvedre, it offers up notes of steak tartare, porcini mushrooms, blueberries, blackberries, charcoal and camphor. Incredibly dense and full-bodied with no hard edges (noteworthy for a 100% Mo...

There is the appellation of Bandol with its plethora of producers, some good, some mediocre; and then there is Château Pradeaux, the unique, inimitable, standard bearer for this ancient wine-growing district. Pradeaux is situated on the outskirts of the town of St. Cyr Sur Mer, which lies directly on the Mediterranean between Toulon and Marseilles. The estate is owned by the Portalis family, which has owned this property since before the French Revolution. The domaine is currently under the direction of Cyrille Portalis, who continues to maintain the gre...

Jancis Robinson: "Certified AB and Ecocert organic. Mourvèdre and Grenache from vineyards on clay-limestone at 410 m asl. Oak spices, ice-cold peppermint and blackberries. The wine started very oaky, but relaxed more and more over three days, the purity of the fruit pulling forward ahead of the oak. Wonderful striations of dried thyme embedded into the dark succulence of the fruit. Masses of ultra-fine tannins, almost invisibly meshing the wine together. (TC)" (12/2022) K&L Notes: Guillaume and Soledad Tari run this beautiful estate in the elevated sea...

Domaine Tempier's Lulu et Lucien is a tribute wine to most influential figures in the region: Lulu Peyraud and her husband Lucien. He was the driving force behind establishing the Bandol AOC, while Lulu was the consummate entertainer and a matriarch for the wine community. She passed away in 2020 at age 102. The 2020 is 75% Mourvèdre, 14% Grenache, 9% Cinsault, and 2% Carignan. The importer says, "You’ll want to savor as many bottles as possible, as soon as possible, to take advantage of the intoxicating young fruit: wild blackberries and violets leap fr...

Wine Spectator: This offers a dense core of plum, cassis and cherry fruit, with rosemary and bay accents, all of which unfurl wonderfully through the rich yet fresh finish. Well-embedded acidity will help this cellar nicely. Best from 2018 through 2030. (JM) (11/2016)
