Always a forerunner and fueled with commitment to the quality of their wines, the Tremblay family produces very distinctive wines with character and finesse. Tasting notes from the producer: "Dry, clear, lively and light with primary aromas."

Domaine Cherrier was founded in 1930. Since then four generations of the family have run the estate. The domaine has limestone and calcareous clay soils that wonderfully influence the character of the grapes grown there. The Sancerre is consistently delicious, with citrus, chalky minerality and light floral notes. Its dry finish complements seafood and cheese beautifully. K&L French Regional buyer Keith Mabry says: "The Cherrier to me is always one of the biggest crowd-pleasing Sancerres/Sauvignon Blancs from anywhere in the world."

One of K&L's very finest buys from France. This is a reserve cuvée, made from Millet's chalkiest limestone soils. There is a long maceration at very low temperatures to extract as much flavor and character as possible. The resulting wine is intensely charged with stone fruit and minerality, and bright citrus notes. The wines of this family domaine have been a staple here at K&L since the 1994 vintage when Franck and Betty Millet drove a long way (to Beaune!) on Easter Sunday to meet Clyde and crew to present the wines. We love these wines for their fresh...

Burghound: "An exuberantly fresh and expressive nose freely offers up its array of mostly citrus-suffused white fleshed fruit aromas. The delicious and agreeably textured flavors conclude in a slightly simple but chiseled, dry and refreshing finale. To enjoy young." (10/2023) K&L Notes: Robert Goulley is made by Domaine Gueguen located in Chablis. The juice is essentially the same wine that goes into the Domaine Gueguen bottlings. From the winery: "Let us tempt you with our Bourgogne Chardonnay, an exceptional wine growing close to Chablis vineyard. Ta...

Domaine de la Colombe is based in the village of Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume, located at elevations between 900 and 1,300 feet. The terroir includes clay-limestone soils in combination with sandier soils in the valley. The higher elevations combined with full sun exposure allow for full ripeness without sacrificing acidic balance and texture. It's a classic patio wine for aperitifs or lightly grilled seafood dishes.
Domaine Côtes Blanches was established in the 1930s by Bernard and Pierre Millet. In 1980, it was time for the second generation to take the reins, so François and Monique expanded the estate to 21 hectares of vines (15ha of Sauvignon, 6ha of Pinot Noir). After returning from his studies in Beaune, Nicolas (son of François and Monique) joined the family-run estate and brought a newly energized passion. The family is dedicated to the land and the environment by which they are surrounded. All farming is done organically, harvest dates are dictated by natur...

Domaine Renaud is a small operation in the town of Puissé making Mâcon, Pouilly-Fuissé and St. Veran from twelve hectares of estate vineyards. Their cellar is modern and they use upright ovals for many of the wines, stainless steel for others. The wines have long been customer favorites at K&L with their clean and fresh style, and their affordable price tags. With citrus and stone fruit profiles, zippy acidity, and a minerality that comes from their humble terroir, we think Renaud is one of the best entry-level Burgundy estates we carry at K&L.

89-92 points Burghound: "Note: from a parcel that sits on the opposing hillside from La Forest This is aromatically similar to the Petit Chablis with just a bit more Chablis typicity. There is also better underlying tension and detail that suffuses the medium-bodied flavors that possess slightly more refinement, all wrapped in a more mineral-driven and drier finale. This is excellent for its level and a wine that could also be enjoyed young or held for up to a decade. Buy it. *Burghound Top Value!*" (08/2023) 90-92 points Wine Advocate: "The 2022 Chabl...

Very fruity, this rosé is particularly well suited as an aperitif or with salads and vegetable dishes."

Winemaker Anthony Girard grew up in his family's Sancerre winery, but spent a number of years learning about wine production all over the world before returning home to continue working with Sauvignon Blanc. While helping with the namesake Girard label, Anthony wanted to create his own project on the side and eventually purchased a small plot of pristine real estate near the town of Récy, with primo Sancerre limestone soils. After acquiring the vines, he was given a large key as a symbolic gesture of new ownership, a "clef du récit," which became the nam...

The Millet Sancerre has been a favorite here at K&L for a long time. Grown in limestone-clay soil, the wine reflects the terroir wonderfully. The flavors are bright with lime, mineral, passion fruit, and that wonderful chalkiness one wants from a Sancerre. This wine over-delivers and pairs beautifully with oily seafood dishes, and of course, your favorite cheeses.

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Brilliant peach in color with flexes of copper, this wine explodes with fruit in the glass. Find intense notes of ripe melon, tangerine, lemon skin, peaches and pears. The palate has a beautiful textural presentation of soft fruit with grapefruit oil on the midpalate and a saline mineral finish. (ACC)" (08/2023) 90 points Wine Advocate: "Pale and slightly coppery in hue, Fondreche's 2022 Ventoux Rose includes a hefty dose of Cinsault, with the balance a mix of Grenache and Syrah. The wines of Aurore Dezat are a regular feature in our wine club offerings, and her vibrant Sancerre is an easy favorite among K&L staff as well. Aurore makes wine on her family estate in Sury-en-Vaux, which was established by her grandfather. Before Aurore took over the estate, most of the fruit was sold off through négociants. She has slowly phased out the négociant contracts. The estate is home to more than just vines, with grain crops and farm animals also finding a home there, but for Aurore, the focus is on the wine. She farms organically and empha...

92 points Wine Advocate: "The darkest ruby of the 13 samples I received from the industrious Cave Les Vignerons de Tavel & Lirac, the 2022 Tavel Cuvee Royale kicks off with notions of crushed stone, lime zest and macerated berries. It's full-bodied, concentrated and richly textured, with a long, citrus and berry finish that could actually use a few months to smooth out. Fabien Collonge is a young winemaker from Beaujolais. We met him on our recent trip to the region and he presented us with a rosé of Gamay that absolutely knocked our socks off. There is no pretense in his approach to winemaking; his goals are to create terroir-driven wines that are both fun and enjoyable. This is a wine that's fresh, crisp, and clean on the palate with a supple weight and pure flavors of fresh strawberries and spice. This is the affordable rosé you need a case of for the warm months, and maybe a few bottles for the more pleasant fall ev...

The appellation of Picpoul de Pinet covers about 3,000 acres just off the coast of the Mediterranean. It is famous for two things: oysters and this wine of origin, Picpoul. Picpoul itself is the grape and means "lip stinger," which has become a running joke in our Hollywood store. Whenever we taste a new Picpoul, we ask each other, "does this pic your poul?"
