1979 Domaine Séailles 41 Year Old Ténarèze Armagnac (700ml)
Top Pick!
Produced from a small estate plot, this Armagnac is aged in 400L barrels and was distilled entirely in 1979. From the importer: "Domaine Séailles is one of the pioneers of organic viticulture in the Côtes de Gascogne region of Southwest France. A family-owned estate since 1961, Séailles is now run by Jean Labérenne, who lead the domaine to Ecocert organic certification in 1997, swearing off all chemical fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides, and synthetic chemical products. Located in the town of Ténarèze, which is unique in the region for its limestone ...

Wine Advocate: "Dark plum/garnet-tinged with some amber at the edge, the 1979 offers up notes of garrigue, truffles, damp earth, hints of iodine and seaweed (which I associate more with wines made within 100 kilometers of the Mediterranean coastline, not the Atlantic Ocean), sweet currants, plums, cherries, cedar and roasted herbs. From Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France: "For many, Talbot embodies the ideal Saint Julien, a generous bouquet, extremely stable and dependable during aging." The 107-hectare vineyard is located in the heart of Saint-Julien and is comprised of alluvial gravel soils that have proven perfectly suited to Bordeaux varieties over the centuries.

Bid on this bottle of 1979 Margaux, Margaux. Château Margaux is one of the world’s most famous wine producers, and with good reason. The estate’s history dates to the 12th century, and by the 16th century its owners were rotating vineyards into their grain fields. Its wines were being exported by the early 18th century and they quickly became Bordeaux’s gold standard for quality. Thomas Jefferson, when he was ambassador to France, was especially fond of Château Margaux and noted approvingly that "there cannot be a better bottle of Bordeaux." As one of the First Growth chateaux, and one of the four recognized as outstanding in France’s historic 1855 Bordeaux classification, Margaux has always been one of the aristocrats of the Medoc. "
