100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A tour de force from Pessac-Leognan, the 2010 Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte matches the 2009 in terms of quality but possesses a more dense, powerful, compact style. Absolutely heavenly aromatics of blackcurrants, cassis, smoked tobacco, scorched earth, and truffle all define the aromatics, and it takes air to show at its best today. With full-bodied richness, massive concentration, and building tannins, it's flawless balanced, has an insane level of purity, and incredible length on the finish. This brilliant, brilliant Graves will ...

100 points Decanter: "A long way from being ready to go – I would suggest at least another six years – but it is going to be worth the wait for this wine. I’ve tasted it now on several separate occasions, and every time been blown away by its purity, succulence and precision. Blackberries, blackcurrants, liquorice, rosemary, aniseed and tight grilled tannins, all offset by violet aromatics. Serious, powerful, sets its own pace. (JA)" (04/2020) 99 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A thrill a minute as well as one of the most singular, exotic, elegant wines in the vi...

Château de Sarenceau is a family property and the 4th generation runs it today. This small estate of only 9 hectares allows a precise and careful work of the vines. This is the first time we have carried this property and it was our biggest buy on April 2022 trip. Rare enough to be underlined, this Saint-Emilion is a 100% Merlot! It offers an evolved nose, with notes of truffle, plum and licorice. The mouth opens with a lot of fruit and freshness, and it finishes with ripe black fruit flavors. A great wine from a great vintage. Will cellar well 10 mor...
Château Bois-Malot is located in St-Loubes and situated on the shoreline of the Dordogne River. The soils are clay and light limestone with a subsoil of red pebbles and clay. The wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc and is aged for 18 months in tanks, followed by six months in barrels. If you like framboise you will adore this wine — 2015 was a huge success for this property. As in most years, this wine tastes and smells of raspberries and earth, but with a gentle middle and a soft finish due to the extraordinary v...

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Even better, the 2001 Château Barde-Haut offers a full-bodied, beautifully textured style on the palate as well as incredibly complex notes of blackcurrants, chocolate, tobacco, and Asian spices. With resolved tannins, a great mid-palate, and a concentrated, rich, powerful style, it's another 2001 that's drinking brilliantly today." (03/2020) 90 points Vinous: "The 2001 Barde Haut has an open-knit nose of black plum and crushed strawberry; subtle, almost gamy aromas develop in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a pliant...

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Another magical wine from this property, the 2009 Château Cos D'Estournel reminds me slightly of the 2005 with its incredibly rich, powerful, opulent style married to stunning finesse and elegance. Still youthful yet with a touch of maturity, its deep ruby/plum color is followed by classic Saint-Estèphe notes of blackcurrants, dried tobacco, loamy earth, Asian spices, and licorice. Deep, full-bodied, and massive on the palate, it's flawlessly balanced and has building tannins hiding under its wealth of fruit, with no hard edges a...

100 points James Suckling: "The aromas to this are incredible with blueberry, minerals, dried flowers, and stones. It goes to dried meat and spices. Full body and incredibly integrated with blackberry, licorice, and minerals. There's a wonderful purity to this. It goes on for minutes. The quality of tannins is amazing. Seamless. There's an amazing transparency that shows you all the elements of the wine's unique terroir." (02/2013) 100 points Wine Advocate: "An absolutely amazing wine, from grapes harvested between the end of September and October 17, ...

92 points James Suckling: "Classy red here with currants, blueberries and mahogany aromas. Full body, chewy tannins and a long finish. Intense and powerful. " (07/2014) K&L Notes: Situated near St-Estephe about 10 min north of Montrose, these vineyards are planted to 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, and 5% Cab Franc. On the stone lintel of the door's oldest vat of Verdignan there is engraved a date: 1720! The 2009 is a great bargain from Bordeaux.

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "The tannins are very fine, with rich fruitcake and smoky flavors. Red berry and black plums give a fruity character, along with delicious acidity. The wine is structured while still remaining very approachable. *Top 100 Wines of 2012* (RV)" (04/2012) 92 points James Suckling: "Big and massive wine for this appellation. Some may say too much but loads of fruit underneath. Full and chewy. 100 points Jane Anson: "This took home the audience award at the 67 Pall Mall tasting that I was hosting, with good reason. What a brilliant example of why Sauternes should be left to gather nuance and to shed its more exuberant, fattier early years before opening. This is just a masterclass in the layers and complexity that you find in fully mature Yquem; saffron, truffle, pineapple, quince, lime, apricots and lemon. Hugely persistent with a squeeze of scraping slate acidity through the final few minutes that gives a dry but mouthwatering finish. It is ...

100 points Jane Anson: "The depth of this wine is astonishing, so much presence in the glass. Liqourice, cassis puree, fruit dripping off the tannic frame, tons of mint leaf on the finish. The pairing of this with the Dame de Montrose in the same vintage is just so good, showing the success of the vintage and the dominance of Montrose in St Estèphe." (08/2022) 100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Unquestionably one of the top 2-3 wines of the vintage, the 2016 Château Montrose is a monument in the making. Checking in as a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlo...

94 points James Suckling: " Lovely aromas of bright fruit and flowers with just a hint of chocolate. Full body, with super silky tannins and an ultra-refined palate. Elegant and sexy. Best ever from here. " (02/2013) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Juicy and engaging, offering dark plum, raspberry coulis and sweet tobacco notes at the core, studded with wood spice and licorice snap accents. Features ample toast on the finish, with good drive for balance. (JM)" (08/2013) John Gilman: " The 2010 Balestard la Tonnelle has turned out quite well in 2010, with ...

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A consistently perfect wine every time I've had it, the 2009 Château Pontet-Canet is the greatest wine from this address to date as well as one of the greatest Pauillacs out there. Still youthfully ruby/purple and with a gorgeous perfume of blackcurrants, lead pencil, graphite, crushed rocks, and damp earth, it's still youthful but is just now starting to show more nuance and complexity. Full-bodied on the palate, with a powerful, concentrated mid-palate, incredible depth of fruit, and flawless balance, Bordeaux simply does not g...

Give this a year or two to come together. " (12/2021) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Bright fruits are sustained by ripe tannins in this wood-aged wine. A line of acidity promises further aging. This structured wine will likely be ready from 2023. (RV)" (03/2022)

92-93 points James Suckling: "This is so good already. What an amazing precision of fruit for this wine, with a blackberry and blueberry character as well as minerals. Full and super silky with lovely fruit. Gourmand. Tasty. I want to drink it. Always great value!" (04/2011) 92 points Vinous: "Fully saturated inky-ruby. Somewhat oak-dominated on the nose presently, with aromas of red cherry, rose petal, graphite and brown spices. Rich and lush but less obviously fruit-driven than usual in this vintage, combining sweeter mocha and earth tones with ripe ...

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "I obviously underrated the 2016 Château Haut-Bailly on release, and it easily tops out my scale. A hypothetical blend of the 2009 and 2010, it has the opulence and sexiness of a ripe, sunny vintage (à la 2009) paired with incredible purity, concentration, structure, and elegance (à la 2010). Incredible aromatics of cassis, liquid violets, cedar pencil, flowers, and minerals give way to a full-bodied, multi-dimensional, layered Haut-Bailly offering ultra-fine tannins, flawless overall balance, nothing out of place, and the class t...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "A truly grassy aroma leads to a fresh, herbaceous and crisp wine. To top its crispness, it also has some weight, wood flavors and a creamy core with a white pear texture. It could benefit from aging, at least three years, to bring out the inherent richness of the wine. *Wine Enthusiast Best of 2009* (RV)" (07/2009) Wine Advocate: "A sleeper of the vintage, this constant over-achiever’s 2007 exhibits notes of plum sauce, soy, spice box, and unsmoked, high class cigar tobacco. This round, generous sleeper of the vintage shows ...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "This rich wine is powered by tannins and generous blackberry fruits. It is currently dry, with a firm core. But the wine has weight and will develop well. (RV)" (04/2021) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Dark cherry and red currant fruit melds nicely with notes of red tea and warm earth. Light alder thread stitches up the solid, juicy finish. (JM)" (03/2021)

Not to be confused with Château d'Issan or its second wine, Blason d'Issan, this awesome value (from the vintage Jancis Robinson suggests might Bordeaux's best ever) actually hails from a different vineyard than these other d'Issan's. And while this is labelled and sold as Bordeaux Supérieur, it is nonetheless under the outstanding d'Issan umbrella (the 2019 grand vin got 96 points from Jane Anson).
91-92 points James Suckling: "Very pretty aromas and flavors of purple fruit with chocolate and walnuts. It’s medium-bodied with creamy tannins and a juicy, lightly chewy finish." (04/2021) Wine Advocate: "The 2020 Bourdieu sports a deep garnet-purple color and notes of stewed black plums, blackberry preserves and underbrush, plus wafts of dried herbs and dusty soil. The medium-bodied palate offers a good amount of expressive black fruits with a soft texture and lively backbone, finishing with an herbal lift. (LPB)" (06/2021)
Maison Barrière and Château Beychevelle collaborate to create this wine that's a stunning value from Bordeaux. This blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon is a stellar value from Bordeaux. Grapes are hand-harvested and the juice undergoes a cold soak before 75% of it is barrel fermented and the other 25% is fermented in stainless steel. Crisp and mineral with vanilla tones on the nose, the palate is nicely rounded and full with citrus and tropical fruit. It is delicious with lighter foods and also quite refreshing on its own.
Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at the 2007 Bordeaux horizontal in Southwold. The Lanessan ’07 has a nose with red fruit rather than black, with touches of raspberry leaf and white pepper. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, crisp black fruits. (NM)" (11/2011) K&L Notes: Tasting note from Chris Kissack of TheWineDoctor.com: "This vintage, perhaps unsurprisingly, looks a little more advanced than the 2006 just tasted. There is density to it though. A rather dusty nose, moving into something leafy rather than minty here. The palate is cool, gent...

94 points James Suckling: "Plenty of menthol, blackberry and blackcurrant aromas in this elegant, medium-weight Haut-Médoc that’s got as much freshness as ripeness and a long, clean, mineral and herbal finish. An incredibly food-flexible wine! Drink or hold." (02/2019) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Well-integrated tannins give this wine a rich, velvet character that is underlined by the blackberry fruits. The aftertaste is dense, concentrated and rich. Drink from 2025. (RV)" (04/2019) 92 points Vinous: "The 2016 Cantemerle has developed beautifully wit...

Better than 2015. Take a serious look at it, beginning 2024." (02/2019) 96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "It’s a total rock star of a wine and has fabulous notes of crème de cassis, barbecue smoke, graphite, and sandalwood that build beautifully with time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated, layered, and seamless, it’s incredibly impressive and I’d wager up ...

92 points Decanter: "Ripe black fruit aromas on the nose continue on the palate with blackcurrant, black cherry and plum on the palate. Juicy with a lovely soft mouthwatering aspect contrasting the crunchy fruit with a vein of minerality running through. Lovely integrated tannins and a smooth overall mouthfeel. A pleasure to drink and a crowd-pleasing wine. (GH)" (03/2022) 91 points James Suckling: "Blackberries, dark cherries, currants, chocolate, vanilla and sweet spices on the nose. 97-98 points James Suckling: "This is a big move forward for Giscours. Full-bodied yet agile and fresh with tannins that are precise and integrated, with great beauty and length. Well-structured and vivid. Extremely fine yet defined tannins, and then it opens like a butterfly." (04/2023) 95-97 points Vinous: "The 2022 Giscours was picked between 1 and 29 September, one of the earliest ever, with no SO2 added until blending and using bio-protection (yeasts) to protect the must. It has a delightful and sensual bouquet with lifted, violet and peony-scente...

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A wine that could easily be mistaken for a First Growth, the 2010 Rauzan-Ségla is an incredibly powerful, full-bodied wine by this estate’s standards, yet it nevertheless holds onto a terrific sense of elegance as well as perfect balance. A huge nose of blackcurrants, smoked earth, tobacco, lead pencil, and spice give way to a concentrated, blockbuster styled Margaux that has thrilling depth of fruit, masses of ripe tannins, and great length and finesse on the finish. This brilliant wine is just now seemingly on the edge of its dr...

(04/2019) 91 points Decanter: "Full of rich red fruits, this is long, sweet and powerfully silky. It's an excellent second wine which now includes some Premier Grand Cru Classé B vines, as they have tightened selection for the grand vin. One to enjoy. 99 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Pure class, the 2019 Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse De Lalande is another brilliant wine from director Nicolas Glumineau that checks in at the top of the vintage. A blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, and 6% Cabernet Franc that was harvested from mid-September through October 8th. Brought up in roughly 60% new French oak, it hit 14.1% natural alcohol with a pH of 3.7. More elegant and poised from bottle than barrel, it offers a brilliant perfume of crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, tobacco leaf, damp earth, and ...

The palate is firmly built yet broadened out by plump dark-fruit tones and honed by a solid, dry core. *Top Cellar Selections of 2019* (RV)" (05/2019) 98 points James Suckling: "Lovely nose of fresh plum, almond and vanilla. Both rich and firmly structured, the biscuit-like texture married to beautiful ripeness. And this dynamic drives the wine over the palate and off into the distance. So vibrant at the long, stony finish. " (05...

(03/2023) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Shows nice brightness, with fleur de sel notes out front that give this zing from the get-go, followed by pink grapefruit oil, gooseberry and bitter almond hints. 94 points John Gilman: "The 1983 Cantemerle is a superb wine that has been rightly lauded since its initial release way back in 1985. I have had the pleasure to drink this vintage of Cantemerle with frequency over the years, and it has only gotten better and better as it has had a chance to blossom with bottle age, and it is probably now just starting its plateau of peak drinkability. This most recent bottle was utterly classic and even better than the bottle I reported on a while back on my feature on the 1983 vintage, as it wafts from the glass in a fi...

It’s like a tightly knit ball of polished tannins that are cashmere in texture. So very long and impressive. Give this time. A terrific Lynch." (12/2022) 98 points Decanter: " One of my favourite wines of the vintage, this is a wonderful example of high definition winemaking but still offering plenty of Pauillac swagger. 95 points Wine Advocate: "Though Sigalas-Rabaud 2010 was extremely promising out-of-barrel, I never expected that it would trump d’Yquem in a blind tasting once in bottle. It has an engaging, pure and lifted bouquet with scents of lemon curd, honey, ripe oranges and quince that are extremely well-defined. The palate is well-defined with a fine line of acidity, crisp mineralite and tension. This is very composed and tightly wound, a Sauternes probably built for the long-term and not giving too much away now. Yet the class is already tangible. This is one ...

98 points Jane Anson: "Inky ruby colour even at 10 years old, easily as good as the 2016 and possibly even better. You can spend a lot more money on wines of this vintage and not get as much pleasure as you are getting in the glass here. Pure brilliant Pauillac, dripping with liquorice, black chocolate, rose petals, blackberries, liqourice, smoked earth, cassis, all poised with purity. Only just thinking about its drinking window, and just so generous and balanced even now, but come back in 10 years and it will only have moved on a few tiptoes - this is ...
