This well aged single malt comes to us under a discontinued independent label, but it was sourced from a blue chip Highland distillery many years ago. Unfortunately we aren't allowed to explicitly share the producers name here, but you might rightly deduce that any distillery with enough old juice to sell at this kind of price is one of the big boys. One walk through this Scottish valley and you'll definitely want mo'e of it at this price. Comparable bottlings from the distillery, when they declare a particular vintage bottling as Grand, regularly approa...

100 points Decanter: "A long way from being ready to go – I would suggest at least another six years – but it is going to be worth the wait for this wine. I’ve tasted it now on several separate occasions, and every time been blown away by its purity, succulence and precision. Blackberries, blackcurrants, liquorice, rosemary, aniseed and tight grilled tannins, all offset by violet aromatics. Serious, powerful, sets its own pace. (JA)" (04/2020) 99 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A thrill a minute as well as one of the most singular, exotic, elegant wines in the vi...

Poggiarellino is a small property in the north of Montalcino and is not far from Altesino. They started making wine with the 1996 vintage and slowly grew their production. K&L started importing their wine with the 2000 vintage. Their Brunello di Montalcino production is usually about 450 cases to 500 cases and about half of that number for the Rosso di Montalcino. The Brunello is aged in 25hl Slavonian oak barrels and the Rosso di Montalcino is aged in stainless steel tanks.

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Another magical wine from this property, the 2009 Château Cos D'Estournel reminds me slightly of the 2005 with its incredibly rich, powerful, opulent style married to stunning finesse and elegance. Still youthful yet with a touch of maturity, its deep ruby/plum color is followed by classic Saint-Estèphe notes of blackcurrants, dried tobacco, loamy earth, Asian spices, and licorice. Deep, full-bodied, and massive on the palate, it's flawlessly balanced and has building tannins hiding under its wealth of fruit, with no hard edges a...

The first vintage from this producer. A fantastic and beautiful expression of mature Rioja. Purity of fruit and silky tannins with a long sweet finish. Brilliant

From Cutty Sark: The expression is matured over 12 years in carefully selected Bourbon and Sherry Casks. Then the Whisky goes through a marrying process. Allowing it to be filtered at a higher temperature to retain smooth flavours. “Aged for 12 years in hand selected oak casks and with notes of dried and tropical fruits, spice, cloves, ginger and a subtle hint of sea salt, CUTTY SARK 12 Blended Scotch Whisky pays tribute to the ship’s many anchor points and its long, proud maritime history.”

95 points Vinous: "Inky ruby. Vibrant, spice-accented cherry and boysenberry scents are complicated by hints of black pepper, candied flowers and licorice. Supple and broad in the mouth, offering juicy red and blue fruit preserves, spicecake, olive paste and violet pastille flavors that tighten up steadily with air. The floral note repeats strongly on the clinging finish, which shows excellent clarity and velvety, slowly building tannins. There are almost a quarter-million bottles of this wine made in a typical vintage, by the way. 50% new oak. (JR)" (12...

100 points James Suckling: "So subtle and complex with blackberry, blueberry, fresh bark, fresh black truffles and light wet earth, as well as forest floor. Full-bodied, yet linear and so long with an amazingly polished and refined tannin structure and finesse that draws you deep and down in the palate. It opens incredibly in the glass. What a wine. Goes on for minutes. A real beauty. Something so true and ethereal here. Try after 2026. (JS)" (01/2021) 100 points Vinous: "The 2018 Lafleur is mesmerizing. What a wine! The aromatics alone are spellbindin...

A historic opportunity to secure one of the world’s most sought after spirits is upon us. Not only have we slashed the price from its pandemic highs of $600/375ml bottle, we have removed the bottle limit opening up the opportunity for case buys to stock up for the gift giving season. Kweichow Moutai Feitian Baijiu is one of the most famous distilled spirits on the planet. The consummate luxury gift, it holds a special status in Chinese culture. It is the official liquor of China. Hailing from the Kweichow province, this renowned distillery has been craft...

98-100 points Decanter: "Never the most exuberant during En Primeur, this is deep inky purple in colour with a violet rim. On the palate you get touches of iris, with an earthiness alongside, coupled with a grip of tannins that expands through the mid palate then clamps down again pretty sternly on the finish. Strong liquorice and chocolate notes, but the emphasis is clearly on slate and crushed stones, cigar box and cloves, with a strong, serious spine. I don't give 100 during En Primeur, but this is as close as it gets, and is a reflection of just how ...

96 points Wine Advocate: "From an iconic vintage that gave generously to all grape varieties across almost all of Tuscany, this wine ranks high on the Fontodi billboard of greatest hits. The 2010 Flaccianello della Pieve is a rock solid wine that sits firm and begins to peel slowly, each delicate layer at a time. It puts on quite a show with a solid core of dark fruit followed by smoke, spice, tar, licorice and delicate blue flower. On previous tastings of this vintage, I had scored it 97 and 97+ points, respectively. I'm going down one point at this sit...

100 points James Suckling: "Blackberries, black walnuts and black cherries, as well as loads of chewy tannins. Some smoked wood, wood tannins and even black truffles. It’s full-bodied and powerful with loads going on. It just keeps growing on the palate. So much wet earth and black olive at the finish with porcini mushrooms, too. Needs time to soften. Crazy finish. (JS)" (12/2020) 97 points Vinous: "If checking in early, make sure to give the towering 2016 Brunello di Montalcino from Pertimali plenty of time to stretch its legs. It’s incredibly shy and...

99 points Wine Advocate: "A candidate for perfection with a few more years of bottle age, this great vintage of Angelus has an almost impenetrable black/purple color and a gorgeous nose of incense, graphite, blackberry liqueur, truffles and spring flowers. The wine is full-bodied, with a voluptuous texture a magnificent concentration and purity of fruit, a stunning finish of close to a minute, and wonderfully sweet, velvety tannins that make for a prodigious Angelus that should turn out to be one of the all-time greats ever made at this estate. 100 points James Suckling: "I tasted this about a year ago at the winery and I was blown away. This time I tasted it in a blind tasting in Tuscany and it stood above the rest. Amazing aromas of blueberries and flowers, with black truffles and pie. Foie gras, mushrooms and white truffles too. Powerful, with great depth of gorgeous fruit and ultra-fine tannins. It fills your mouth with fruit and ripe tannins. Complex and long. A breathtaking wine. Truly glorious. Better in 2015." (02/2012) 98 points Wine Enthusiast: "This beautiful riserva shows enormous...

97-99 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape reminds me of the 2007 with its incredible sexiness and seamless, elegant texture. Black cherry liqueur, Provençal herbs, flowers, and licorice are just some of its nuances, and it's full-bodied, with a layered mouthfeel, gorgeous tannins, and a great, great finish. Tasted from multiple foudre, this is unquestionably up with the finest in the vintage, and as I’ve written in the past, it’s almost impossible to have too much Clos des Papes in the cellar!" 98 points Decanter: "The personal project of winemaker Chris Phelps of Inglenook. Since his days at Dominus in the 1990s, he continues to show a deft hand with Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes are sourced entirely from the Sleeping Lady vineyard in Yountville. Seductively fresh, giving up earth, black fruit, dried thyme and brown baking spices with hints of tobacco. Full-bodied on entry, striking a lovely balance between saturated black and blue-toned fruit with savoury wild herbs, conifer and earth, just hinting at spearmint, and bolstered by fine-grained tan...

96 points Wine Advocate: "A candidate for the wine of the vintage, Pontet Canet’s 2008 boasts an opaque purple color as well as copious aromas of sweet blueberries, blackberries and black currant fruit intertwined with lead pencil shavings, subtle barbecue smoke and a hint of forest floor. Full-bodied, with fabulous richness, texture and tremendous freshness, this first-growth-like effort is more developed than the uber-powerful 2010. Give it 5-8 years of cellaring and drink it over the following three decades. Bravo! (RP)" (05/2011) 95 points Wine Ent...

Showing a touch more classy oak as well as complex cassis, crème brûlée, new leather, and sweet tobacco, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a round, seamless, sexy mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. Despite its four years in barrel, it hasn't lost any sense of freshness and has vibrancy, purity, and structure. It too will evolve for 20 years or more." 98 points Wine Advo...

Full-bodied with very fine tannins that are polished and pure. Such a fine texture. Lots of primary fruit. Like picking wonderfully ripe grapes. Great length. One for the cellar." 97 points Vinous: "Here in its debut vintage at Conterno, the 2015 Barolo Arione is wonderfully aromatic and nuanced. Sage, mint, pine, licorice and wild cherry all grace this vivid, exquisite Barolo with stunning layers of complexity. In the glass, the 2015 is ample and evocative, with all of the mystery of Nebbiolo that unfolds over time. Firm Serralunga tannins need time to soften, likely tons of time, but the beauty of the Arione is impossible to miss. The 2015 finishes with tremendous weight, substance and resonance, all of which will make it a fasc...
