93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Randall Grahm's annual Rhône ode delivers authenticity, beginning with tarry aromas of singed meat, dried red plums, crushed rocks, charred wood and a hint of blood. The blend of 57% Grenache, 17% Cinsault, 16% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah is visceral on the palate with its bloody and dried meat flavors, yet with snappy red fruit that stays vibrant into the rusty finish. (MK)" (07/2021) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Precise and appealingly Old World in style, offering smoky raspberry, spice box and black olive flavors and a hint of ...

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Imperiale is undeniably one of the big successes in the vintage. A blend of 95% Grenache and 5% other permitted varieties, partially destemmed and aged all in concrete, its deep ruby color is followed by awesome notes of blackberry jam, crushed rocks, graphite, and garrigue. A big, rich, unctuous wine, it has beautiful purity, integrated acidity, building tannin, and a great, great finish. I wouldn’t touch bottles for another 4-5 years, but it’s a tour de force in Grenache I wish every reader could tas...

2015 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Back In Stock!
98 points Wine Spectator: "This offers a drop-dead gorgeous core of cassis and raspberry pâte de fruit flavors that hold center stage but still allow notes of Lapsang souchong tea, anise, incense and shiso leaf to chime in. Very long, with a sublime feel through the mineral-tinged finish. So seductive already, but this should cruise in the cellar. *Collectible, Ranked #14 in Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2017* (JM)" (11/2017) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bottled in May, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape is a floral, elegant, unbelievably complex wi...

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Châteauneuf-Du-Pape Cuvée Réservée is a beautiful, classic wine from the Feraud family that offers powerful notes of blackcurrants, peppered meat, garrigue, and that classic Pégau spice that's hard to find outside of this iconic estate. Possessing a deep ruby/plum color, beautiful complexity, full-bodied richness, and firm tannin, it has closed up slightly since I tasted it from barrel and is going to need 6-12 months of bottle age to bounce back, but this is a concentrated, powerful vintage for this estate that reminds m...

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2015 Booker "Fulldraw" Paso Robles Rhône Blend (96JD, 95RP). Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Fulldraw comes from a site located just beside Jensen’s estate Booker Vineyard and is 50% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 20% Syrah. It has a gorgeous, Châteauneuf du Pape-like (it reminds me of Domaine de Marcoux’s Vieilles Vignes cuvée) perfume of red and black fruits, spice-box, incense, fennel and cured meats. Ethereally textured and elegant, yet also ripe, powerful and concentrated, it has ripe tannin, it’s an incredible wine that builds with time in the glass." (08/2017)
Starting Bid: $110.00

Bid on this magnum of 2015 Chimère (Sine Qua Non) Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (97JD). Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Chimère is a selection of Mourvèdre made by the Maurel brothers of Clos Saint Jean, oenologist Philippe Cambie, and Sine Qua Non genius Manfred Krankl. I believe there’s a touch of Grenache in the blend, as well as some Clairette and other varieties, but the bulk of this cuvée comes from the famed la Crau lieu-dit and is brought up all in demi-muids. It offers a beautiful perfume of sweet kirsch and blueberry fruit intermixed with loads of licorice, sweet spice, violets, and crushed rocks. Full-bodied, super intense, sweetly fruited, perfumed, and complex, it’s a gorgeous 2015 that does everything right." (02/2018)

Bid on this 2-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2015 Next of Kyn (Sine Qua Non) "Cumulus Vineyard No. 9'' Central Coast Red Blend (99RP, 99VN, 98JD) and 1-bottle of 2015 Next of Kyn (Sine Qua Non) "Cumulus Vineyard No. 9'' Central Coast Red Blend (1.5L) (99RP, 99VN, 98JD). Of the 2015 Next of Kyn (Sine Qua Non) "Cumulus Vineyard No. 9'' Central Coast Red Blend, Vinous writes: "The 2015 No. 9 Cumulus Vineyard is off the charts gorgeous, just as it was from barrel last year. Tasted from bottle, the 2009 is a bit closed, but all the aromatic depth, soaring intensity and energy that it showed from barrel is there. Time in the glass brings out the wine’s sensational pedigree. Dark cherry jam, mocha, grilled herbs and leather are some of the many notes that develop with time, but it is the wine’s overall structure that truly elevates into the realm of the divine. Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2015 Domaine De Saje '1600' Chateauneuf du Pape (93RP, 90JD). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A rarity in Chateauneuf du Pape, Domaine de Saje's 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape 1600 features Counoise as the largest varietal component (42%), followed by Grenache (20%) and Mourvèdre (20%). The balance consists of tiny amounts of the other permitted varieties. Given Counoise's ability to retain acid and ripen at relatively low brix, could this be one possible way forward for an appellation struggling with high alcohol levels? The wine is complex, blending notes of cherry, cracked pepper, garrigue and clove, but also full-bodied and silky in texture, with a long finish. Impressive! (JC)" (10/2017)

Bid on this bottle of 2015 Saxum "James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Willow Creek District Rhône Blend (97RP, 97VN, 96JD, 95WS). Vinous: "Glass-staining ruby. Heady aromas of mineral-tinged dark berry liqueur, incense and roasted coffee, with a suave floral nuance adding brightness. Smoky, appealingly sweet and focused, offering palate-staining black and blue fruit and candied licorice flavors that are braced by juicy acidity and a late flourish of five-spice powder. Closes with outstanding clarity and floral-dominated persistence, leaving suave floral pastille and spicecake notes behind, eventually. (JR)" (11/2017)

Bid on this magnum of 2015 Saxum "Rocket Block - James Berry Vineyard" Paso Robles Willow Creek District Rhône Blend (1.5L) (100JD, 98RP, 98VN). Jeb Dunnuck: "As with the Bone Rock, there are only four barrels of the 2015 James Berry Vineyard Rocket Block, a blend of 89% Grenache and 11% Mataró, from a tiny parcel, that was all co-fermented. Offering the essence of kirsch liqueur, ground pepper, gravelly minerality, herbes de Provence, and licorice, it reminds me of a great vintage of Domaine de Marcoux’s Châteauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes. Massive and opulent on the palate, yet pure, elegant, and refined, with silky tannins, it’s as good as wine gets. Hats off to Smith for another magical wine." (10/2019)
