Bid on this 6-half-bottle lot of Bollinger Special Cuvée Brut Champagne (375ml) (96DC, 93BH, 93JD, 92JG, 92JS, 92WS, 91RP, 91W&S, 90VN). Decanter: 60% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay, 15% Meunier sourced from more than 300 crus, including 85% grands and premiers crus; 15% fermented in old oak barrels. The complexity and richness of Special Cuvée is unparalleled among the entry non-vintage blends of every Champagne house, short of ascending to the mesosphere of Krug. Its grand recipe explains why, built on incredible depth of 50%-60% reserves. Vinous: "The 2008 Dom Pérignon is a huge, powerful Champagne and also clearly one of the wines of the vintage. This is one of the most reticent bottles I have tasted. So much so that I am thinking about holding off opening any more bottles! The 2008 has always offered a striking interplay of fruit and structure. Today, the richness of the fruit is especially evident. Readers who own the 2008 should be thrilled, but patience is a must. (AG)" (11/2021)

Bid on this bottle of 2002 Bollinger "La Grande Année" Brut Champagne (98W&S, 97JS, 96DC, 96JD, 94RP, 94VN, 94WS, 93BH, 93JG). Wine & Spirits: "There is Champagne, and then there is 2002 Bollinger. This wine makes me dizzy, stammering in cross-eyed bliss. Taking a step back, the sustained chord of flavor comes into focus, revealing a limestone honey: scents of acacia, marzipan, apricot and golden citrus. Jamal Rayyis, one of our tasters with the broadest flavor library in his head, described the scent as loomi (dried lime) and dried apricot, as if walking into a Middle Eastern market. Flavor details aside, the wine’s richness softens the structural grandeur of the vintage, which is buoyed in a mineral bath of power. This will reward another ten or 20 years of age, and the bottles that remain will likely only feed the wine’s legend. " (12/2011)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2008 Veuve Clicquot "Gold Label Reserve" Brut Champagne (93JS, 93WS, 92RP). James Suckling: "Attractive creamy pastry notes and pithy lemon citrus fruits on offer here. There's also a gently nutty edge of autolysis, all locked in nice and fresh here. The palate's bright, crisp and has attractive fresh lemon and peach-fruit flavours. It's a really tidy and more chiselled vintage for this wine." (08/2016)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2008 Billecart-Salmon Extra Brut Champagne (97DC, 96JS, 95WE, 93RP, 92VN). Decanter: "A blend of 65% Pinot Noir consisting of Premier and Grand Crus from the Montagne de Reims and the Vallee de la Marne and 35% Chardonnay from the Cote des Blancs. Significantly, this has nine years ageing on its lees (longer than some Prestige Cuvees), the 2008 was first released onto the global market back in March 2019. With an Extra Brut dosage of 4g/l, this is a highly expressive, confident and convincing interpretation of the vintage. Right now, it is youthfully sharp and focused with fine salinity, depth, acidity and balance, and as such is already extremely approachable. The flavour spectrum encompasses toast, oyster shell, citrus, cream and a flinty, mineral depth. There’s supreme balance and elegance here, combined with a hidden underlying power that will continue to emerge and broaden with time. The finish is dry and long. (JS)" (05/2019)

Bid on this bottle of 2008 Louis Roederer "Cristal" Brut Champagne (100JD, 100JS, 99DC, 99JG, 99VN, 98RP, 98WE, 97WS). James Suckling: "Disgorged October 2016 and will be the first Cristal to be released ten years from harvest when it is offered in 2018. 35 parcels used from a possible 45 in this vintage. The assemblage is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. This is so fresh and tense and mineral with extremely exuberant Chardonnay notes on the nose of white peach, lemon and yellow grapefruit, and hints of almost brambly sous bois aromas. The yeast characters are also super fresh, and there are subtle woody notes, with a hint of vanilla bean and light spices. The palate is super long, and very pure, powerful and focused. It drives deep and taut. Pinot Noir is a strong core and the Chardonnay sits at the edge offering lemon and white nectarine sorbet flavors. Staggeringly concentrated, yet the balance makes it seem airy and light. " (10/2019)

Bid on this bottle of 1959 Suduiraut, Sauternes (97VN). Vinous: "The 1959 Suduiraut is a vintage that I have been fortunate to have met three times before and mark my words, this is one of the greatest the château has ever produced. Deep amber in color, it has a striking bouquet with intense aromas of orange pith, quince jus, Clementine and beeswax that just bursts from the glass and frankly, overshadows anything produced until the 21st century. The palate is scintillating: intense and clean botrytised honeyed fruit, a razor-sharp line of acidity that keeps this on its toes. There is something so crystalline about this 1959 that it leaves you perplexed why or how the château lost that quality for so many years. It is a truly fabulous Sauternes and one of the high points of the estate. 103gm/L residual sugar and 14.9% alcohol. Tasted at a private dinner in Bordeaux. Drink 2019 - 2035. (NM)" (03/2019)

Rich, sumptuous and flamboyant to the core, the 2002 captures all of the radiance of a year in which ripeness in the Chardonnays was pushed to the edge. The 2002 is oily and viscous on the palate, with tremendous textural resonance in all of its dimensions. Tropical fruit, pastry and exotic floral notes all build as the 2002 opens up with air. I can still remember the first time I tasted the 2002, here in the Hautvillers cloister, with former Chef de Caves Richard Geoffroy. It was thrilling back then, and is every bit as memorable today. More than anything else, I am surprised by how well the 2008 drinks given all the tension and energy it holds. Then again, that is precisely what makes 2008 such a unique vintage – namely that the best wines are so chiseled and yet not at all austere. Lemon peel, almond, mint, smoke and crushed rocks are all finely sculpted, but it is the wine’s textural feel, drive and persistence that elevate it into the realm of the sublime. The 2008 will be even better with time in the cellar, but it is absolutely phenomenal even today, in the early going. (AG)" (07/2019)
