90 points Decanter: "Most Californian Viognier is soupy and hot, but Darioush gets it right. The fruit is sourced from southern Napa, which is relatively cool, and mostly fermented and aged in neutral barrels. The nose is heady but with admirable floral typicity. It's rich and plump, full-bodied without being heavy, concentrated, and has just enough acidic bite. Quite long on the finish, it's unmistakably Viognier. (SB)" 90 points Wine Spectator: "Juicy and succulent, with plenty of pop to the tangerine, apricot and Asian pear flavors. Smooth and seamle...

The estate at Château Gigognan has a history stretching back to Roman times and eventually became the property of the bishops of Avignon. More recently, the estate was acquired by Anne and Jacques Callet, who over the last few decades completely rebuilt the winery, restoring the château and replanting where necessary. Slowly they acquired additional parcels, and now the domaine includes 30 hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, In 2012, consulting winemaker Philippe Cambie helped out, and in 2017 the property was bought by Jean-Francois Henin, with famed winem...

Domaine Begude is a small, family-owned property located high in the foothills of the Pyrenees in the Limoux region of the Languedoc. Proprietor James Kinglake believes that Viognier has incredible potential in the region. The natural climatic influence of the Pyrenees to the south, the Atlantic to the west and the Mediterranean to the east provides a haven for grape varieties that excel in a cooler climate. The Viognier vineyards are at approximately 240 meters and are planted on a mix of clay-limestone soils. Though they are not going for Condrieu, ...

94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "With a kiss of reduction in its white peach, honeyed flowers, and subtle tangerine notes, the 2023 Viognier Art Den Hoed hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a round, lush mouthfeel, and a clean, light, graceful, incredibly drinkable style. It's a beautiful, incredibly classy Viognier that I'd happily put side by side with anything from the Northern Rhône. Drink bottles over the coming couple of years." 92 points James Suckling: "Fragrant and clean expression of viognier with apricots, apple blossoms and guava on ...

93 points Vinous: "I totally dig the 2022 Condrieu Le Mornieux, a Viognier of class and substance. Prominent apricot, quince, spring blossom, cedar, acacia, honey and ripe peach all race out of the glass. Rich and concentrated, the full-bodied 2022 checks out with persistence on the stone fruit-laden finish–a powerhouse.(NG)" (03/2024)

94 points Descorchados : "This is the new white in the Ver Sacrum portfolio, and it's a co-fermentation of 70% viognier, 20% marsanne, both from Los Chacayes in the Uco Valley, and 10% pedro ximénez from eastern Mendoza. Fermented in concrete and 20% aged in barrels under the veil of flor (as is the Geisha de Jade, the winery's classic white), this offers a succulent body, lots of strength, and a texture that does a very good job of combining the density of the fruit with the savage texture of the tannins. A white to drink with sweetbreads or to cellar f...

94-96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2021 Condrieu La Grillette is going to rank with the finest in the vintage. Possessing a kiss of good reduction in its honeyed citrus, white peach, orange zest, and chalky minerality, it hits the palate with medium-bodied richness, a fresh, focused, mineral-laced texture, good acidity, and awesome length on the finish. There's not much of this to go around, but if you see a bottle, buy it." (03/2024) 95 points James Suckling: "Noble aromas of stone fruits, also notes of white tea and verbena, yet the wine’s strength is th...

93 points Wine Advocate: "The 2023 Viognier Spanish Springs Vineyard sports a distinctively floral nose of chamomile, jasmine, lilies, orchard and citrus fruit aromas—a rare combination for this variety. The palate combines a medium-bodied richness with fantastic cut, clarity and zestiness without feeling thin or forced into a more slender frame. The finish displays a wonderfully tensile agility that redefines the grape's capabilities. A singular expression and something of a signature wine for Aequorea, I look forward to following this wine's aging curv...

93 points Int'l Wine Review: "The 2022 Louise Viognier from Cristom comes from old vines planted in 1993 and 2003 while resting for 6 months in neutral French oak barrels, a stainless steel tank, and a concrete egg. Very expressive on the nose with ripe yellow peach, honeysuckle flowers, acacia, freshly cut hay, and hints of tropical fruit. Wonderfully textured, it ends with ample acidity and a lovely herbal and fruit-forward finish that goes on for minutes. 694 cases made."

93 points Decanter: "Very rich, full-bodied, concentrated and opulent. It has a sweet richness that is further accentuated by the oak, plus an inner citric bite and some noble bitters that help bring balance to this very intense, concentrated Condrieu. There’s a long, saline, firm finish. No new oak, malolactic completed. (MW)" (09/2023) Jancis Robinson: "A slaty and slightly mineral note on the nose. The palate has good energy and freshness beneath a cloak of rich golden fruit, apple, nectarine and cereal. Powerful and rich but also has a nice streak ...

Bid on this 1-half-bottle lot of 2005 Alban Rotten Luck TBA Edna Valley Viognier (375ml). Specializing in Rhône varieties, Alban Vineyards is an artisan winery with a long term objective of increasing the awareness and quality of Viognier in California. Many wineries have jumped on the Viognier bandwagon in the last five to ten years, but few with as much success as Alban. This late-harvest (named after the sweet Trockenbeerenauslese of Germany) Viognier is an excellent example of what Alban can do.

Bid on this 1-half-bottle lot of 2006 Sine Qua Non Mr. K - The Ice Man Viognier (375ml) ((95-97RP), 94VN). Wine Advocate: To be released next year, the 2006 Mr. K.
