94 points Decanter: "Golden yellow in colour, the aromas span ripe pineapple and candied lemon peel to creamy leesy richness, followed by intensely salty lemons. The characteristic salty impression is strong here, making this mouthwatering, appetising and every so delicious. With its weighty mouthfeel, its ripe citrus and stone fruit character, and its honeyed complexity, this would work well at the table. It still has a fresh lick of lime and grapefruit to keep it zesty, too. Yum. (NE)" (08/2023) K&L Notes: Domaine de Petit Roubie was established by O...

Late harvest wine from the heart of the Colchagua Valley. Sourced from a hundred year of Semiillon vineyard. Stainless steel fermented and then a small percentage of the wine was rested in used French oak.

93 points James Suckling: "Pretty aromas of dried berries, cedar and candied orange peel follow through to a medium body and a very sweet palate, with oranges, plums and a nutty undertone such as peanuts. Very fresh and sweet. Tastes older than 10 years and in a very good way! Drink now." (01/2023) 92 points Wine & Spirits: "The descendants of Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira farm this property along the Corgo River, just above Regua. Their latest ten-year-old Tawny is sleek and classical, generous in its cherry-plum richness, elegant and bright in its i...

95 points Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind in Hong Kong, the Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Malconsorts 2004 does everything to convince me that I had this brilliant wine correct when I tasted it from barrel. Deep in colour, there is an initial burst of red berry fruit intermingling with shaved black truffle and cigar box, a little autumnal perhaps, but very well defined. The palate has real guts and substance, the new oak melded into the fabric of the wine, silky smooth in texture with a vitamin-like purity toward the energetic finish. What a great les Malconsor...

92 points Wine & Spirits: "Consistently one of the finest traditional manzanillas you'll ever taste, La Gitana might as well be the Webster's entry for the category: pale straw color, salty seaside freshness and a dry, tangy, yet rich flavor. And that flavor lingers after each sip, too, like sea spray." (04/2005) 92 points Wine Spectator: "A bright, high-pitched style, showing tangy quinine and chamomile notes laced with talc and fleur de sel flavors. Very dry, brisk, stony-edged finish. An absolute delight. (JM)" (05/2018) Jancis Robinson: "Greenish...

96 points James Suckling: "Beautiful aromas of caramel and orange peel with some toffee and pomegranate follow through to a medium body with bright fruit, tangy acidity and a caramel finish. Fantastic! Drink now." (01/2023) 93 points Wine Advocate: "The 20 Year Old Tawny, bottled in 2013, was aged in very old oak casks and vats. It is an old-vines field blend with residual sugar of 119 grams per liter. Opening with a big, big rush of sugar, this shows more focus and far more complexity than I sensed on the first whiff. The finish is crisp and laced wit...

This is a one of a kind dessert wine, but what else would you expect from a late harvest wine from the Canary islands? Harvested in November, fermented without any additions and then it goes into a solera aging system that is made from Allier French oak. The numbers are amazing for a dessert wine; 130 gm/L sugar, 8.8 g/L total acid and a pH of 3.3. Now the real question is what do all those numbers add up to? Delicious, plain and simple. Yes, it is sweet but it has an amazing amount of acid to balance all that sugar. It is also crazy complex. Tropica...

93 points Vinous: "More evolved than the 2016, the 2017 Vin Jaune L’Étoile performs well. Vivid curry, walnut, bread dough and hay are all lined up. Candle wax and white mushrooms add more complexity. Full-bodied and concentrated, the generous 2017 is a warming and gentle Vin Jaune that checks out with nutty hints on the elongated finish. It can be enjoyed right out of the gate. (NG) " (07/2024) K&L Notes: One of the classic icon producers of the L'Etoile region, Montbourgeau began its history in the 1920s and has produced traditional Jura wines ever...

95 points Wine Advocate: "The NV Don Gonzalo Oloroso 20 Anos VOS, produced with Palomino grapes from the Carrascal vineyards, is fermented in stainless steel and aged for over 20 years in oak botas. It is a very serious Oloroso, even if it’s not totally dry. It offers bitter almonds, hazelnuts, incense, Cuban cigar ash, and dark chocolate as well as a complex, a very intense, round and ample palate. This wine really fills your mouth. Very intense and with great acidity, it represents very good value for the quality it delivers. A tamed beast. I’ve often ...

90-92 points Jasper Morris: "A pale ruby purple. The bouquet is very elegant. Caroline always liked to make a lighter style of Burgundy, yet the intensity of fruit in 2022 adds a degree of intensity without changing the basis of her style. Very persistent given the finesse of this wine. Just racked too, so chapeau. Drink from 2026-2030. " (01/2024) Burghound: " A slightly more deeply pitched nose reflects notes of both red and dark currant along with more evident floral elements. The succulent, round and relatively generous medium weight flavors delive...

93 points James Suckling: "This is more of a traditional LBV, aged for four years in cask and not filtered before bottling, so it gives you the sensation of vintage Port. It’s full and tannic with medium sweetness, giving you fruit and chewiness. Drinkable, but better in three to four years." (01/2023) 90 points Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Late Bottled Vintage Port (LBV) is an unfiltered field blend from old vines aged for 36 months in all stainless steel this year. It comes in with 90 grams of residual sugar and a long cork. It was bottled in April 2022....

Produced in the Piemonte the birthplace of vermouth, this Cortese-based vermouth was released to mark Cocchi's 130th anniversary. The Cortese grapes (also used for Gavi wine), are infused with Artemisia Absinthium, from the Piemonte mountains, local Menta di Pancalieri, and lemon, according to the producer.

91 points Wine Advocate: "The NV Malmsey 10 Year Old, which was bottled end 2015, is bestowed with pungent clove and sandalwood aromas, holding the sweet caramel and toffee notes back and delivering something more resinous and almost marine-like. There is a peat-like element, as if it was matured on Islay rather than the middle of the Atlantic! The palate is medium-bodied and here that Malmsey-like richness and sweetness is (finally) delivered: touches of toffee apple, smoke, clove and dried orange peel. Perhaps more Bual-like in style, it displays fine ...

Jancis Robinson: "Mid amber-brown. Cooked fruit and a hint of something herbal like mint or angelica, with rich, Christmas-cake notes too. Medium-sweet sense, with a caramelised orange and dried apricot palate. Good length, caramelised hazelnut finish. Nicely done. 16/20 points (TJ)" (04/2021)

93 points Decanter: "Sercial is not the easiest grape to appreciate but this amber-coloured wine has lovely, lifted savoury-nutty aromas and clean spicy flavours with characteristic acidity. Text book Sercial: a wonderful aperitif or try a glass to accompany sushi and sashimi. (RM)" (09/2022) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "As warmer weather approaches, this is a wine that should immediately come to mind at aperitif time. This bone-dry style, with its inimitable nutty character, is so fresh, so vibrant. It has some tannins, enlivening acidity giving a grea...

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Aromas of strawberries and dried cranberries make for an unusually, pleasantly bright nose on this Primitivo. The palate is similarly fresh and crunchy with tannic red fruit, further animated by acid. DC" K&L Notes: Castello Monaci 'Piluna' Primitivo Salento is a robust red wine from the Salento region in Puglia, made from 100% Primitivo grapes. Known for its deep color and intense flavors, it offers aromas of ripe black fruit, plum, and spice, with hints of licorice and chocolate. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with vel...

90 points Vinous: "The 2016 Vino Bianco Tondo takes it down to the earth with flowery underbrush, flinty crushed stone, rich tilled soil and hints of sour melon. It’s supremely smooth and elegant upon entry, yet quickly contrasted by tart orchard fruits and salty mineral tones. This finishes a bit short while leaving floral nuances to linger. The Tondo is a varietal Prié Blanc that was refined all in ceramic containers. (EG) " (03/2022)

92 points Wine & Spirits: "Juan García Jarana, the motorcycle magnate of Jerez, sells a portion of his soleras to Lustau for this delicate Oloroso. It starts with notes of candied almonds, coconut palm syrup and caramel. The hint of salinity lends complexity and freshness, without diminishing that delicate, pleasing sweetness." (06/2009) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Just add this oloroso to the growing list of excellent Sherries from Lustau. This one is tellingly nutty on the nose, thus the hazelnut and walnut flavors are expected as they become part of...

98-99 points James Suckling: "Wow. Blackcurrants, blueberries, blackberries and flowers. Full-bodied with beautifully integrated tannins that melt into the wine. Persistent and precise. A fantastic wine for the cellar." (04/2023) 96-98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The Grand Vin 2022 Château Lynch Bages checks in as 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. It actually reminds me slightly of the 2019, and while it's a classic Lynch Bages powerhouse, it has beautiful balance and purity. Cassis, graphite, lead pencil, and c...

The Cavallotto "Vigna San Giuseppe" Barolo 1996 comes from one of the most respected estates in the Barolo region, located in the heart of Castiglione Falletto. Cavallotto is renowned for its dedication to traditional methods, and the Vigna San Giuseppe is their flagship wine, crafted from a single vineyard within the family's estate. This particular vineyard, part of the Bricco Boschis cru, is prized for its south-facing slopes and calcareous soils, which provide ideal conditions for growing Nebbiolo with depth and complexity.
The 1996 vintage in Barol...

96 points Wine & Spirits: "The wines that make up this Palo Cortado have an average age of more than 25 years. Originally, it was aged in Calle Ponce in the city of Jerez; hence the initials still printed on the label. During aging, the wine is refreshed with Fino Inocente and Amontillado Tío Diego, two other top bottlings in Valdespino’s portfolio. The end result is a wine that smells smoky and rich in caramelized flavor, but tastes dry to the bone; all those ripe flavors become the purest mineral impressions. A sense of chalky albariza soil floods the ...

93 points Wine Spectator: "Enticing, with green tea, ginger, toasted sesame, caramel and date flavors that glide through, with finely stitched acidity and a flattering flash of sweetness. Delivers understated elegance. (JM)" (06/2018) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a smooth and richly ripe wine. It has a dry character that brings out the wood aging and the dried fruit flavors that are well in balance. There is a tang of spirit that gives a lift to the wine. Acidity and a dry aftertaste complete an impressive tawny. (RV)" (12/2015) 91 points Wine...

Bid on this 6-500 ml bottle lot of 2017 Rhys Horseshoe Vineyard Santa Cruz Mountains Syrah (500ml) (95VN, 94JD, 94JG). Vinous: The 2017 Syrah Horseshoe Vineyard is remarkably elegant. The red fruit character almost recalls Pinot Noir, but a backbone of firm tannins brings the mind immediately back to Syrah. Flowers, black pepper, game and leathery notes all develop with a bit of coaxing. The Syrah is maybe just a bit less varietal than it often is, but that does not detract from its immeasurable beauty.
