94 points Wine & Spirits: "Although most Sherry producers offer PX wines, there is, in fact, very little pedro ximénez planted in Jerez, Sanlúcar and El Puerto. Most of the vines are in Montilla-Moriles, where the grapes can produce both super-sweet and concentrated wines, as well as Finos that are both very dry and very ripe. This Oloroso, aged more than 30 years in botas, is intensely saline and earthy, with complex nutty flavors. It is very dry, yet generous and ripe, a vibrant wine that would go well with braised lamb." (10/2015) 92 points Wine Adv...

Jancis Robinson: "Blend of Furmint and Hárslevelu. TA 7.3 g/l, RS 154 g/l. Apple crumble and cream. One tiny sniff of a glass of this, and I can feel my shoulders relaxing into childhood memories. That soft glow of comfort sweetness. On the palate, a broad, generous, late-harvest abundance of apples that taste as if they're tumbling yellow and pink and rose-tinted gold through honey and cinnamon-scented pear juice. Then a slow tingle of acidity. A tingle that holds, vibrates like a harp string, moves along the spine of the wine and the spine of you until...

91 points Wine & Spirits: "Light amber-tawny in color, this wine is delicately balanced between freshness and age. There’s brisk, tart peach flavor along with more mature tones of pale berries and woodsy mushrooms. Hints of tobacco smoke add to the wine’s elegance." (12/2015) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Racy and fresh, with detailed green fig, dried cherry, incense and hazelnut notes. Offers a long, focused finish. (JM)" (06/2018) Wine Enthusiast: "This hits the sweet spot between fruit and wood-aging flavors. The red fruit tones have just begun to ra...

95 points Wine Advocate: "Rich with surprisingly soft tannin, this dense plum/ruby/purple-colored 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits lots of briary mountain fruit, blackberries, blueberries and cassis, outstanding purity, full-bodied power and nicely integrated tannin. There is no evidence of toasty oak to be found in this beauty from Randy Dunn. Drink it now or cellar it for 15+ years. It finished at 13.8% natural alcohol. (RP)" (06/2013) 93 points Int'l Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Very tight and high-pitched on the nose, hinting at cassis, minerals and ...

This is a one of a kind dessert wine, but what else would you expect from a late harvest wine from the Canary islands? Harvested in November, fermented without any additions and then it goes into a solera aging system that is made from Allier French oak. The numbers are amazing for a dessert wine; 130 gm/L sugar, 8.8 g/L total acid and a pH of 3.3. Now the real question is what do all those numbers add up to? Delicious, plain and simple. Yes, it is sweet but it has an amazing amount of acid to balance all that sugar. It is also crazy complex. Tropica...

95 points Wine Advocate: "The NV Amontillado Gran Barquero is an impressive 25-30 years old. It wears a dark amber robe and a subtle, elegant and focused nose. It’s an Amontillado of finesse, with biological, salty notes and roasted almonds, close to the Fino character. The palate shows a medium-bodied wine of a velvety texture, fine acidity and clean, focused flavors, It represents superb value for the quality it delivers. (LG)" (08/2013) 94 points Wine & Spirits: "Pérez Barquero was founded in 1905, but the name was known only locally until 1985, whe...

99 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The extended aged 2015 Syrah M is more backward and structured, with the 2015 vintage character front and center. Based on 90.6% Syrah and the rest Petite Sirah, Grenache, and Viognier, aged 38 months in 66% new oak, its deep purple color is followed by powerful notes of blackcurrants, blackberries, cedarwood, spiced meat, candle wax, and white flowers. It’s deep and full-bodied, with a huge mid-palate, building tannins, and one serious finish. This rocking beast of a Syrah stays remarkably elegant and perfectly balanced yet needs...

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Tokaji is dark amber in color, with aromas of honeysuckle, peach and acacia flower. In the mouth there are flavors of clover honey, pear and baked sweet apples. Acidity is well balanced to the amount of sweetness. (JJ)" (09/2021) 95 points James Suckling: "This is a great introduction to Tokaji Aszu at the beginning of its (very long) ideal drinking window. Stunning nose of lemon curd, dried peach and candied pineapple. Rich and creamy with a touch of marzipan character, but more importantly bright acidity and fine tann...

96 points Wine & Spirits: "The wines that make up this Palo Cortado have an average age of more than 25 years. Originally, it was aged in Calle Ponce in the city of Jerez; hence the initials still printed on the label. During aging, the wine is refreshed with Fino Inocente and Amontillado Tío Diego, two other top bottlings in Valdespino’s portfolio. The end result is a wine that smells smoky and rich in caramelized flavor, but tastes dry to the bone; all those ripe flavors become the purest mineral impressions. A sense of chalky albariza soil floods the ...

95 points Wine Advocate: "The NV Don Gonzalo Oloroso 20 Anos VOS, produced with Palomino grapes from the Carrascal vineyards, is fermented in stainless steel and aged for over 20 years in oak botas. It is a very serious Oloroso, even if it’s not totally dry. It offers bitter almonds, hazelnuts, incense, Cuban cigar ash, and dark chocolate as well as a complex, a very intense, round and ample palate. This wine really fills your mouth. Very intense and with great acidity, it represents very good value for the quality it delivers. A tamed beast. I’ve often ...

This dessert wine is different. To begin with, it is 100% Tannat, a sturdy, yet potentially alluring varietal originating in France that found a new home in Uruguay as the small winegrowing nation's "signature grape." This has a radiant amber, purple color and a honey-like texture, with a bouquet that offers hints of winter flowers, Madagascan vanilla bean and wild apple with a touch of white chocolate. Exotic, exciting, delicious with chocolate desserts.

93 points Decanter: "Sercial is not the easiest grape to appreciate but this amber-coloured wine has lovely, lifted savoury-nutty aromas and clean spicy flavours with characteristic acidity. Text book Sercial: a wonderful aperitif or try a glass to accompany sushi and sashimi. (RM)" (09/2022) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "As warmer weather approaches, this is a wine that should immediately come to mind at aperitif time. This bone-dry style, with its inimitable nutty character, is so fresh, so vibrant. It has some tannins, enlivening acidity giving a grea...

91 points Wine Advocate: "The NV Malmsey 10 Year Old, which was bottled end 2015, is bestowed with pungent clove and sandalwood aromas, holding the sweet caramel and toffee notes back and delivering something more resinous and almost marine-like. There is a peat-like element, as if it was matured on Islay rather than the middle of the Atlantic! The palate is medium-bodied and here that Malmsey-like richness and sweetness is (finally) delivered: touches of toffee apple, smoke, clove and dried orange peel. Perhaps more Bual-like in style, it displays fine ...

Jancis Robinson: "Mid amber-brown. Cooked fruit and a hint of something herbal like mint or angelica, with rich, Christmas-cake notes too. Medium-sweet sense, with a caramelised orange and dried apricot palate. Good length, caramelised hazelnut finish. Nicely done. 16/20 points (TJ)" (04/2021)

93 points Wine Spectator: "Enticing, with green tea, ginger, toasted sesame, caramel and date flavors that glide through, with finely stitched acidity and a flattering flash of sweetness. Delivers understated elegance. (JM)" (06/2018) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a smooth and richly ripe wine. It has a dry character that brings out the wood aging and the dried fruit flavors that are well in balance. There is a tang of spirit that gives a lift to the wine. Acidity and a dry aftertaste complete an impressive tawny. (RV)" (12/2015) 91 points Wine...

94 points Decanter: "Lovely fresh and vibrant expression, the floral Mourvèdre coming through well. Only medium-bodied, this is pleasingly restrained. Acidity is good, tannins are fine, and the overall effect is one of neatness, balance and finesse. Not a big wine by any means, but very nicely judged. Grown organically on the sandy soils of Les Bédines, this is fermented in tronconic vats then aged in foudres for 18 months. (MW)" (09/2022) 93 points Vinous: "Matured for 18 months in foudre, the 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Les Safres is a blend of 90% Gren...

Marek Uhnák eschewed the trend of planting international varieties in his region and focused on the classic and historical grapes that his grandparents and their grandparents were renowned for making. All of Marek's vines are planted on volcanic soils, the site of which was one of the largest above ground volcanic eruptions ever detected (it was about a million years ago, though). These soils are perfect for the ancient Carpathian grape Pesecká Leánka, roughly translated to "Royal Maiden." All of Marek's vineyards are farmed organically and all winema...

92 points Wine & Spirits: "Juan García Jarana, the motorcycle magnate of Jerez, sells a portion of his soleras to Lustau for this delicate Oloroso. It starts with notes of candied almonds, coconut palm syrup and caramel. The hint of salinity lends complexity and freshness, without diminishing that delicate, pleasing sweetness." (06/2009) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Just add this oloroso to the growing list of excellent Sherries from Lustau. This one is tellingly nutty on the nose, thus the hazelnut and walnut flavors are expected as they become part of...

98-99 points James Suckling: "Wow. Blackcurrants, blueberries, blackberries and flowers. Full-bodied with beautifully integrated tannins that melt into the wine. Persistent and precise. A fantastic wine for the cellar." (04/2023) 96-98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The Grand Vin 2022 Château Lynch Bages checks in as 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. It actually reminds me slightly of the 2019, and while it's a classic Lynch Bages powerhouse, it has beautiful balance and purity. Cassis, graphite, lead pencil, and c...

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "This golden-colored Tokaji has aromas of raw honey, apricot blossom, pear and baked apple tart. Silky smooth upon entry, it offers flavors of baked apples, wildflower honey, canned pears and apricot. The acidity is nicely balanced so as not to be too cloyingly sweet. (JJ)" (09/2021) 96 points Wine Spectator: "Well-spiced and minerally on the nose, showing hints of petrol and slate, with a brilliant backbone of acidity creating a mouthwatering frame for the silky flavors of apricot pâte de fruit, clover honey, passion fruit c...

The Massandra appellation stretches along the South Coast of the Crimea.
