95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Showing beautifully, the 2000 Château Beau-Sejour Bécot is fully in its prime drink window and offers brilliant aromatics of red and black fruits, cedar pencil, tobacco leaf, truffle, and licorice. Full-bodied on the palate, it has a deep, concentrated mid-palate, resolved tannins, beautiful overall balance, and a great finish. This is prime, Grade-A Saint-Emilion magic that's drinking at point yet has another 10-15 years of life." (08/2022) 92 points Wine Advocate: "This full-bodied, modern-styled St.-Emilion offers a sensation...

94 points James Suckling: "Wild-blackberry, potpourri, tobacco and dark-chocolate aromas. It’s full-bodied with firm, velvety tannins. Intense and polished with delicious praline layers. Still has plenty of energy and structure. Gorgeous balance. " (02/2021) K&L Notes: Xavier Vignon's greatest strength as a winemaker is his ability to establish long lasting and unique relationships with his partner winemakers and growers. For 25+ years Vignon has made exciting and sumptuous modern wines but he has also indulged in a few unique and interesting projects ...

90 points Wine Spectator: "This is big and tannic, with loads of concentration. Full-bodied, chewy and impressive. Leave it for a long time. Super price for a cru classé. (JS)" (03/2003) Jancis Robinson: "Really very good indeed. Deep crimson. Meaty and savoury with just a hint of that velvety texture that so many 1990s exhibit. Quite a high tannin content but these are ripe, well-masked tannins. 17.5/20 points (JR) " (10/2003) Wine Advocate: "A sleeper of the vintage, with a characteristic not dissimilar from a good St.-Julien, the medium-bodied 200...

96 points Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind at Bordeaux Index’s 2000 tasting in London. This is a fantastic Cos d’Estournel that I was unsure about out of barrel, but is now blossoming with age. It is adorned with a lovely nose: blackberry, wild hedgerow, espresso, a touch of chocolate and sandalwood. Very fine definition and vigour. The palate is full-bodied with ripe tannins, superb symmetrical structure, dense, obdurate black fruits, a saline note, very well balanced, very focused, broadening out nicely towards the ravishing, supple finish. (NM)" (09/2010)...

94 points Wine Spectator: "Tremendous. Ripe, rich, deftly balanced and deeply concentrated, yet with a wonderful sense of harmony and finesse. The flavors are sharply defined, built around cassis, currant, mocha and anise, with a long, luxuriant aftertaste." (10/2003) 90 points Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon (450 cases) exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as a sweet nose of charcoal, blackberry, cassis, mineral, and Asian spice characteristics. Full-bodied and rich, with well-integrated oak, a creamy texture, and real opulence as we...

97 points Wine Advocate: "The powerful 2002 Richebourg explodes from the glass with wax-laden black cherries as well as spices. Big, broad, and brooding, it has exceptional depth and a superb, muscular underlying structure. Medium to full-bodied, it offers flavors reminiscent of black fruits intermingled with spicy roasted oak. (PR)" (06/2004) 91-94 points Burghound: "Mme Bize believes the '00 Richebourg is even better than its '99 counterpart and I have to agree. Though it is not as powerful, it delivers even better elegance and finesse with wonderful...

90-92 points Wine Advocate: "First tasted in February 2002. A beautiful nose of blackcurrants, lemongrass and cherry. Great definition. Palate is classy, poised, with well-integrated toasty oak. Very smooth tannins. Pure Cabernet Sauvignon that slips down the throat. The best d' Angludet that I have encountered! Tasted two years later, still a marvelous wine with an elegant nose of blackcurrants and oyster shells. Still great definition. Well-balanced on the palate but more coarse than a couple of years ago but there is great depth and concentration. Sti...

The Gravner Rosso Venezia Giulia 2000 is a unique red wine crafted by Josko Gravner, who is known for his natural winemaking techniques and use of amphorae. This wine, primarily made from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, reflects the warm conditions of the 2000 vintage, resulting in a rich and full-bodied wine. With extended maceration and long aging, it develops complex layers of dark fruit, earth, and herbs, with Gravner's signature oxidative character. This vintage is built for long aging and offers depth and texture

92 points Wine Spectator: "Almost light in texture, remarkably supple and appealing for its chocolate-scented berry flavors, which pick up intensity on the ultrasmooth finish. More elegant and subtle than most previous vintages, although less powerful. " (09/2002) 91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Can anything compare with the glorious Leonetti ’99? This is a fine effort, with its showy mix of red fruits, berry and pomegranate flavors dominating. Though immediately delicious, it is less meaty and muscular than the previous vintage. It’s all about sweet, forw...

100 points James Suckling: "A classic Las Cases with masses of mineral, floral and blueberry character. Full and chewy, with so much power. It’s just opening now." (04/2014) 100 points Wine Spectator: "*#5 on the Top 100 Wines of 2003* Absolutely fantastic. This is one of the most exciting young reds I have tasted in a long, long time. It shows intense aromas of berries, currants and minerals, with hints of mint. Full-bodied and packed with fruit and tannins, its long finish is refined and silky. A benchmark for the vintage. Las Cases has always wanted...

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "I've had some tired and almost over the hill bottles of the 2000 Domaine de Pegau Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvee Reservée recently, yet this bottle was firing on all cylinders, with a mature yet lively vibe in its sweet red fruits, garrigue, pepper, and meaty aromas and flavors. Reminding me of a Grand Cru Burgundy on the palate, with a seamless, layered texture, it's a gorgeous Châteauneuf du Pape that's not going to get any better, yet should drink nicely from well-stored bottles over the coming decade. " (08/2021) 93 points Vinou...

94 points Wine Spectator: "Glorious aromas of freshly picked raspberries, with tiny hints of cream and minerals. Full-bodied, with superfine tannins and a long, long finish of berries and cherries. Super second wine from Margaux. Best Pavillon Rouge I have ever tasted. (JS)" (03/2003) Jancis Robinson: "Savoury, complex, really rather gorgeous nose even if far from the first flush of youth. Sumptuous nose even if on the palate it’s more austere than the nose suggests. Quite grainy tannins on the finish but lovely balance. Very fresh. 17/20 points (JR)" ...

97 points Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Cos d'Estournel is deep garnet in color with a touch of brick and sporting a lot of tertiary evolution on the nose. It leaps from the glass with opulent sandalwood, Chinese five spice, cigar box and leather scents over a core of prunes, baked cherries, dried mulberries and eucalyptus plus a touch of potpourri. Medium-bodied, the palate is laden with fragrant fruitcake and exotic spice layers, framed by wonderfully plush tannins and a refreshing line, finishing with an exhilarating menthol lift. This fine, old, head pruned, dry farmed vineyard sits on sandy soil just west of Oakley in the shadow of Mt. Diablo. Contra Costa County is located 40 miles east of San Francisco and 30 miles south of the Napa Valley. The vines that produced these grapes are "new" plantings for the Continente family, being only 50 to 100 years old whereas other parts of the vineyard were planted as far back as 1878. The wine shows high tones fruit, ripe flavors, hints of red licorice and is in a sweet, upfront style.

Wine Enthusiast: "One of the stars in Listrac, Fonréaud is producing a modern style of wine, with plenty of new wood. The flavors are ripe, black, generous, while allowing a sense of elegance as well. " (06/2003) Wine Spectator: "Lots of currant and berry character. Medium- to full-bodied, with impressive tannins and a long finish. Bit rustic, but impressive for this estate. Best after 2005." (03/2003)

100 points Wine Spectator: "Dark ruby color, with fabulous aromas of blackberries, toasted oak and cedar. Turns to fresh herbs and wild berries. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and lots of ripe fruit. Amazing finish of toasted oak. The greatest wine ever from Clerico. First made in 1995. Breathtaking." (07/2004) 93 points Wine Advocate: "This bottle of the 2000 Barolo Percristina offers intense, exotic sensations of super-ripe fruit, menthol and minerals, with an opulent open-knit personality and superb persistence on the palate. 95 points Decanter: "Founded in 1588, Croft claims the distinction of being the longest-established company still involved in Port production. Given the ideal ripening conditions during August and September 2000, a week of light rain in mid-September rounded off a great vintage, resulting in a wine of intense colour, attractive aromas and full body. RM Withdrawn on the nose, underlying ripe minty fruit and a touch of gum cistus; tight-knit, spicy berry fruit with firm tannins leading to a long, gripping finish. A lovely wine. SJ Spicy, minty and floral n...

97 points Int'l Wine Cellar: "Very pale color. Extraordinary nose reminded me of a great riesling from schist soil: pineapple, wet stone, iodine, spring flowers, even a hint of petrol. Compellingly rich and ripe but extremely dry, with great breadth and depth of flavor. Coats the palate with liquid stone. Builds slowly and goes on and on; all minerals and white flowers today, not yet fruity at all. A wine of great precision and suavity, but with its richness and sweetness it comes across as less sharp than the Forest. I couldn't get this wine out of my h...

96 points Wine Advocate: "The 2000 Fonseca continues to exude finesse and focus on the nose, with pure blackberry, juniper berries, licorice and a touch of sloes, perhaps as Adrian Bridge remarked, just beginning to close after ten years in bottle. The palate is underpinned by very fine tannins, a sensual, svelte texture with wonderful acidity. The harmony and symmetry is alluring, the finish precise and demonstrating the persistency to suggest a long future ahead. (NM)" (02/2013) 96 points Wine Spectator: "This has matured, with flavors of red and bla...

95 points Int'l Wine Cellar: "Nearly black color. Extremely youthful, unforthcoming nose hints at black cherry, plum, violet, bitter chocolate, quinine and bell pepper. This is almost too concentrated and tannic to describe. Palate- and toothstaining flavors of black plum, coffee liqueur, spices, tobacco, vanilla and herbs abound. Alcoholic, heady wine, with a much denser and more tannic finish than the Amarones of Giuseppe Quintarelli. Not for those who believe that less can be more. This cult producer's 2000s are clearly superior to his 1999s, a lesser...

90 points Wine Spectator: "Mineral, berry and cigar tobacco, with hints of earth. Full-bodied, with silky and caressing tannins and a long, long finish. Very fine. Best after 2007." (03/2003) 89 points Wine Advocate: "Starting in 2000, Cabernet Sauvignon was eliminated from the final blend, resulting in a more interesting wine. The dark plum/ruby-colored 2000 is deep, textured, rich, and concentrated. Black fruits, earth, toast, and mocha characterize this medium-bodied, impressively-endowed yet elegant Pomerol. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2016." (04/20...

97 points Wine Advocate: "Beginning to open magnificently, the still dense purple-colored 2000 reveals a blossoming bouquet of blackberries, cassis, graphite and pen ink. Full-bodied with velvety tannins that have resolved themselves beautifully over the last eleven years, this wine is still an adolescent, but it exhibits admirable purity, texture, mouthfeel and power combined with elegance. One of the all-time great examples of Lynch Bages, the 2000 is just beginning to drink well yet promises to last for another 20-25+ years. (RP)" (08/2011) 96 point...

100 points James Suckling: "Latour has made truly great wines in the past two decades - and this is one of the best. It has fabulous aromas of black truffles, currants, raspberry and dried flowers. Mind-blowing on the palate, it’s an emotional and soulful red. (JS)" (04/2014) 99 points Vinous: "The 2000 Latour is very deep in color. The nose is backward and demands coaxing from the glass, eventually revealing intense black fruit, cedar, graphite and very subtle Japanese nori aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with an arching structure that grips the m...

96 points John Gilman: "It had been more than a decade since I last tasted a bottle of the 2000 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou and time has certainly been kind to this beautiful wine! It is starting to stir nicely and really shows a level of complexity and breed that only First Growths routinely exude. The bouquet is still youthful, but pure, complex and refined, wafting from the glass in a mix of cassis, sweet dark berries, violets, a fine base of gravelly soil tones, tobacco leaf, a suave framing of new oak and lovely smokiness in the upper register. On the...

Bid on this bottle of 2000 Sloan Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (93WS, 92RP). Wine Spectator: "This is a beautiful young Cabernet blend, ripe and floral, dark-hued and rich yet elegant in its mouthfeel, with pure, fleshy currant, cassis, blackberry and toasty vanilla scents from oak. Impeccably balanced, complex and concentrated, the finish keeps pumping out subtle flavor nuances that have remarkable staying power. (JL)" (06/2004)

Bid on this bottle of 2000 Pontet-Canet, Pauillac (95DC, 94JS, 93VN, 92RP, 92WS). Decanter: "From magnum, a youthful colour, reflecting slow evolution. Aromas of cedar, lead pencil, roasted and primary fruit. Fine grained, noticeable tannin. Excellent balance of power and smooth texture. Noé Tesseron described it as 'older school Pauillac', and I liked it a lot. Long finish. Aged 60% new oak. (PK)" (09/2021)

Bid on this bottle of 2000 Branaire-Ducru, St-Julien (95WE, 94RP, 92VN, 92WS). Wine Enthusiast: "Here is a huge ripe and luxurious wine, with great power. The texture is solid, filled with firm tannins, the flavors are black and ripe. Along with the power, though, is much of the elegance and poise that characterizes great Saint-Julien. (RV)" (06/2003)
Current Bid: $84.00
Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2000 Troplong Mondot, St-Émilion (96RP, 93VN, 92JA, 92WE, 91WS). Wine Advocate: "Extremely young with an unbelievable deep purple color, the 2000 Troplong Mondot has hardly budged since I tasted it in 2003. Two recent tastings confirmed that this is the greatest Troplong Mondot between their profound 1990 and more recent vintages such as 2005, 2008, and 2009. Copious chocolate, graphite, blackberry, blueberry, cassis, and ink characteristics are present in this full-bodied, powerful, massive St.-Emilion. While the tannins are noticeable, they are better integrated than they were seven years ago, and the fruit, extract, and richness clearly outweigh the wine’s structure. This 2000 will benefit from another 4-5 years of cellaring (longer than I originally predicted), and has at least two decades of drinkability ahead of it. (RP)" (06/2010)
Starting Bid: $170.00
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2000 Domenico Clerico "Pajana" Barolo (93WS, 92RP). Wine Spectator: "Loads of new wood showing on the nose right now, but there is beautiful ripe fruit underneath. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a long finish. Slightly too much wood right now, but should come around nicely. Tasted twice, once after it had been open for 24 hours, which was much better. Needs loads of bottle age. (JS)" (07/2004)

Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 2000 Taylor Vintage Port (375ml) (98RP, 96WE, 95ST, 95WS, 94JG, 93DC). Wine Advocate: At present it offers very pure blackberry, mulberry, and a touch of smoke...not giving much away at the moment but surely destined to down the line. The palate is very refined, very pure with svelte tannins with ebullient ripe red fruits laced with tobacco, nutmeg and white pepper. Long and caressing on the finish, this should evolve into a masterful Taylor’s Vintage. (NM) (07/2011)

Wine Spectator: "Sleek and refined, with anise-infused red currant, plum and raspberry flavors that are mixed with mulling spice, red tea and fruitcake notes. Showing lots of lively, brambly structure, this is in a really good spot now, but also has a ways to go. (JM, Web-2021)"
