We've discovered a tiny remaining allotment of rare, single-cask Borderies Cognacs. Barrels #22 and #151 present a particularly interesting comparison. Both were distilled in 1992 and separated at birth. Barrel #22 found its way into a very humid cellar, while barrel #151 was aged in a dry cellar. This single vintage, single cask, Grande Champagne beauty from Comandon was bottled in October of 2015. The cask only yielded 400 bottles, most of which are long gone. The new importer was able to consolidate the few remaining cases into California and we snapped them up. The nose is loaded with orange blossom, wood spice, and succulent raisins. The palate is a gentle fruity one made up of stone fruits and ripe melons with an easy going ginger spice backbone. The finish is long, soft, and inviting of another sip. Don't miss this while it's still availabl...

The James Bond cask of Petite Champagne from the 2007 vintage was bottled in September of 2015. A rich melange of green apple, peach, ginger spices and malt ale combine with candied fruits and an unctuous texture. The finish is long and woody with a waxen texture. For fans of Cognac, this is a last chance opportunity to grab an exquisite bottlings before it's gone.

High proof Borderies from a small grower producer who has been making Cognac for 5 generations? Yep. The nose is intense, as expected for the appellation - nutty, floral, earthy, sweet fruited, and lifted yet rich in texture. It's easy to see why the Borderies stands out as a superb terroir when you have a bottling as good as this one.
