With a desire to return to his Oaxacan roots Hernan created Hijos de Zoila Mezcal - a tribute to his mother and grandmother. This traditional spirit is brought to life by the Nolasco family, fourth-generation maguey growers and producers, operating from their rustic palenque near...

The Sernas family stands for authenticity and excellence. In 1927, Eugenio Sernas Sr. began growing agave in Matatlan, Oaxaca. By 1955 he had established one of the first of five registered palenques and mezcal brands in Oaxaca. In the 1970’s, manufacturers tried to diminish the quality, speed up the cooking process and increasing mezcal production by using younger agave and adding sugars or flavorings.
