Michel Arnould Verzenay Brut Rosé Champagne (1.5L)
Back In Stock!
Roger Voss' selection of the best grower-producers of Champagne: "Michel Arnould & Fils has 30 acres based around Verzenay on the Montagne de Reims. Pinot Noir dominates his production, of which the best are the Cuvée Carte d’Or and Grande Cuvée." If you have enjoyed the wines of Lallement, Bollinger, and Krug in the past, you may very much enjoy the bold Champagne of Michel Arnould. The Brut Rosé is 100% Pinot Noir Grand Cru, acquired by assembling different vintages and red Coteaux Champenoises coming from old vines. This lovely rosé Champagne offers h...

90 points John Gilman: "Baron-Fuenté’s non-vintage Brut bottling is composed of a blend of sixty percent Pinot Meunier, thirty percent chardonnay and ten percent Pinot Noir, with all the vins clairs all fermented in stainless steel. It is a full malo wine and is aged three years sur latte, being finished with a dosage of nine grams per liter. I am not sure if this is the same release I reported on last year or a new cuvée, but the wine is showing very well. The bouquet offers up a fine constellation of white peach, apple, lovely Meunier floral tones, a t...

Michel Arnould Verzenay "Reserve" Brut Champagne (1.5L)
Back In Stock!
90 points Decanter: "Opens with a fanfare of peach, pear and spiced lemon; subtle architecture in the mouth with a chalky subtext and attractive orchard fruit, transported by a flowing mousse. Pretty accomplished and serious. (Panel Tasting)" (02/2017) K&L Notes: If you have enjoyed the wines of Lallement, Bollinger and Krug in the past, I think you will very much enjoy Michel Arnould. They are bold, masculine Champagnes with plenty of toasty flavor. This is a blend of 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay, entirely from estate vineyards in the Grand Cru o...

Champagne always tastes better out of magnum. Paul-Vincent Ariston says that his 25-year-old vines reflect the vintage, but the Prestige, made from vines averaging 60 years, reflect his terroir. He feels that putting a vintage date on this wine would be an insult to his best vineyard plots. This vineyard was destroyed by hail in 2002, so this is the last we'll ever see of the old vines. It is composed of 50% Chardonnay, 25% Pinot Noir and 25% Meunier. This was one of the best bottles from my 2010 trip, and we drank two just to make sure! It has fantastic...

This is one of the most exciting small-estate Champagnes that we have found recently. It is composed of 100% Pinot Noir with a 2011 base wine blended with 2009 and 2010 vintage, 50% of which is reserve stocks. This is a clean style of Pinot Noir with fine acidity and a small bead. Frothy and just plain lovely! Watch the bubbles go on and on and on when it is in the glass. Initially, there are baked apple flavors followed a mid-palate of grapefuit and nectarine leading to a creamy finish. A very small 15,000 bottle production. Winemaker Vivien Lamoureux i...

93 points James Suckling: "Cinnamon and dried nutmeg add to the experience of bread dough and rose petals. Flavorful on the medium-bodied palate and finely poised with bright acidity. Medium-long on the finish. Drink now. " (05/2019) 93 points Decanter: "Vivid, almost luscious strawberry aromas. Flecks of nutmeg and clove spice amid the lively, refreshing fruit on its slender, fresh body. A real joyful classic. (AK)" (12/2018) 92 points Wine Enthusiast: "The palest of rosés, this is an elegant, structured wine. Its dryness is balanced by the fine app...

The only spirit imported into the U.S. from the small African island nation Mauritius, STARR rum is unique in many respects. The distillery had been in operation for nearly 100 years, but only produced and marketed locally on the island, until an American entrepreneur named Jeffrey Zarnow was given a bottle as a gift. His immediate impression was that he needed to drink this stuff all the time, and the only way to do that was to import it himself. So, through a capital partnership initiative sponsored by the African Union, Jeffrey and his partners revita...

90-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "An earthy, dry, clean, and bean- and cane-like aroma with delicate scents of cocoa bean, vanilla bean, and brown sugar. The palate entry is bittersweet, concentrated and beany; at midpalate the flavor profile becomes sweeter and more like vanilla extract. The bean intensity reaches its bittersweet zenith in the high-flying aftertaste. Chic, racy, and delicious. *Superb, Highly Recommended*" (06/2006) K&L Notes: Distilled and bottled on the island paradise of Mauritius. The locally grown cane matures on volcanic soils, whi...

92 points James Suckling: "Some slight reduction here, this has a lemon biscuit edge and attractive toasty autolysis influence. The palate is more about stone fruits with some mellow spicy flavors building to citrus through the finish." (10/2017) 90 points Wine Spectator: "This creamy version offers a lively bead and flavors of baked currant, toast and candied lemon zest. Fresh and easy-drinking, with an open-knit finish. (AN)" (12/2017)

91 points James Suckling: "Plenty of ripe strawberries and wild raspberries on the nose here. Really attractive and vibrant in the mouth with fresh wild strawberries. It also shows a fleshy, fresh-fruit texture." (09/2018) 91 points Wine Spectator: "A well-knit Champagne with a citrusy, orange peel overtone and a lithe backbone of acidity enlivening flavors of cherry and apricot fruit, grated ginger, pastry and minerally saline. Creamy finish. (AN)" (12/2020) 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "The cuvée from this great Champagne producer is dry, fruity with...

LA's newest micro distillery is finally open. Miller Duval and Morgan McLachlan have been planning and building for nearly four years and their little arts district facility is finally cranking out awesome products using 100% in-house fermentation and distillation. Miller's family has been farming in Central California for generations and the inspiration from the distillery was that wonderful fresh California produce. So instead of grain neutral spirit at its base, the gin has a flavorful clementine spirit. The botanicals are relatively classical with so...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The current release of the NV Estate Brut is made up mainly of fruit from the 2015 vintage. It is a blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir and was made with about ten grams per liter dosage. Disgorged in October of 2018, it has a fresh, open nose with pure fruit expression: crushed apples, pears and lemon peel mingle with touches of stone, flowers and toast. The medium-bodied palate offers a lovely dichotomy of toasty fruits with uplifted citrusy, minerally accents with a finely beaded mousse, and it finishes...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Neutral, faintly juniper-like scent. Smooth, mellow, earthy/malty flavor. Made from Idaho russet potatoes." (07/2011) K&L Notes: We love promoting high quality products made here in the USA. Blue Ice Vodka is 100% Potato Vodka grown and distilled in Rigby, Idaho, which is about 200 miles east of Sun Valley. It is hand-crafted from Idaho's famed Russet Burbank potatoes and water sourced from the melting of the Rocky Mountain snowcaps. This produces a rich, mellow flavor with a hint of sweetness. Very fresh and clean with no g...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Look for vanilla and coconut aromas, plus a hint of savory edge. The palate is distinctly herbaceous, like bunches of mint and tarragon surrounded by a halo of coconut and vanilla. The finish shows graphite, menthol and mouthwatering white and black pepper."

The Spirit Guild is LA's newest micro distillery. Utilizing 100% in house fermentation, distillation and blending, the Spirit Guild relies on local fruit sources to create their spirits. The result is even their most neutral of all spirits has incredible depth and complexity of flavor. The base is 100% locally grown clementines, and while the distillery is planning bottling full-flavored citrus brandies in the future, their full flavored Vapid Vodka hints at the incredible potential of the unusual base. 94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This great rosé combines texture with bright fruit and a bit of age. It is poised between a ripe dosage and a crisp texture, with red fruits and toastiness marking the flavors. It is a fine bottling to enjoy now. (RV)" (10/2020) 93 points Wine Spectator: "Fragrant wafts of smoke and spice accent the steeped raspberry and mandarin orange peel flavors of this tightly meshed rosé Champagne, which is backed by a vivid spine of mouthwatering acidity and is silky on the palate, with hints of dried herb, licorice and toasted almond...

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "More citrus-forward than the standard Tanqeray Dry bottling, this is gin-and-tonic perfection. The classic aroma features juniper and touches of mint, anise and coriander. The same is echoed on the palate, though it's also bursting with grapefruit and lemon peel, finishing soft and herbaceous but perked up with a white peppercorn spark. The No. Ten also has a new art deco-inspired bottle, making it a particularly gift-worthy choice for summer party-goers. (KN)" (07/2014) K&L Notes: Ultra smooth and silky, this super-premium ...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Grand Marnier—or 'GrandMa,' as some cocktail geeks gleefully shorthand it—remains one of the classics. Although it’s Cognac-based, it’s a versatile match for other spirits, too. The liqueur is extremely aromatic, with lots of sweet and bitter orange notes exploding out of the glass. Look for a warm, honeyed flavor and a nice burst of orange peel and spicy cinnamon and ginger on the long finish. (KN)" (02/2012) K&L Notes: The original. Grand Marnier was created in 1880 by Louis-Alexandre Marnier Lapostolle (and the Lapostolle...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Look for bold vanilla aroma, a drying feel and loads of vanilla, brown sugar and even touches of butterscotch on the exceedingly long finish. It's surprisingly smooth for a 101-proof product, although the alcohol indeed makes its presence known. It stands up well to dilution, which blunts the alcohol edge and coaxes out more vanilla. *Best Buy* (KN)" (07/2015) K&L Notes: This gift box includes 1 x750ml Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon and 2 small botltes of bittters - one classic Angostura and one Angostura orange. This is Wild Turkey...

The name refers to the original well dug in 1408. The history of the distillery itself goes back about 600 years and is the longest continuous Baijiu-making distillery in China. In 1998 they renovated the distillery and the unearthed a large, ancient distillery. They excavated the cellars and extracted bio-cultures which are now part of the fermentation process. They also have an amazing collection of distillers yeasts that go back over 600 years and their mud-lined fermentation pits contain wild yeast cultures from this 600 year old distillery. T...

Bid on this magnum of 2002 Egly-Ouriet Champagne Grand Cru Brut Champagne (1.5L) (OWC - 93JS, 93VN) in original wood. Vinous: "(70% pinot noir and 30% chardonnay): Light yellow-gold. Fresh orchard and pit fruits on the deeply scented nose, with notes of musky rhubarb and smoky minerals emerging with air. Deeply pitched poached pear and nectarine flavors show impressive power and are lifted by notes of chalk and ginger. Packs a serious punch but manages to come off as elegant. Finishes very long, with a strong jolt of minerality and slow-building leesiness. (JR)" (12/2013)
