The first thing that you will notice after you have brought this box of wine home with you is that it says Rioja nowhere on it. The appellation prohibits wine being packaged in the format to carry the name Rioja. This is 100% Viura that is grown in clay limestone soils in a vineyard that was planted in 1973. Bodegas Máximo Abete is a family winery located in San Martín de Unx and is currently run by the two daughters of the original founder.
