94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "My favorite from this estate was the 2020 Côtes du Rhône Villages Valréas Pure Grenache, a red and black-fruited, peppery, spicy, sandalwood-driven Grenache that has medium to full body, a charming, layered, graceful mouthfeel, and gorgeous tannins. This incredibly Provençal, satisfying, lengthy Grenache is well worth seeking out and should drink nicely through 2030." (03/2023) 93 points James Suckling: "Very complex nose with notes of graphite (very rare in this region!) and raw meat, plus hints of coffee bean and bitter chocol...

2020 Domaine Benedetti "Larmes Papales" Châteauneuf-du-Pape
New!
95 points James Suckling: "Aromas of dark cherries, wild berries, dried thyme, bay leaves and peppercorns. It’s medium-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Layered, round and juicy with a spicy edge and a vibrant, flavorful finish with excellent length. 100% grenache noir. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold." (05/2023) 94 points Wine Advocate: "All Grenache, all matured in demi-muids, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape les Larmes Papales features attractive notions of menthol, crushed stone, pencil shavings and blackberries on the nose. It's full-bodied...

96-98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape A La Gloire De Mon Grand-Père is mostly Grenache (there are tiny amounts of Cinsault and Clairette) that were all from the La Gardiole lieu-dit and was partially destemmed and brought up mostly in demi-muids. It has incredible purity in its vibrant aromas and flavors of black raspberries, fresh-cut flowers, licorice, graphite, and chalky minerality. These all carry to a full-bodied Grenache offering ultra-fine tannins, a layered, multi-dimensional mouthfeel, and a gorgeous finish. I'd put this beaut...

96 points Wine Spectator: "Shows the great embedded structure of the vintage, with a strong graphite undertow pushing the layers of blackberry, boysenberry and plum fruit, while additional sweet spice, mocha and bittersweet cocoa notes fill in the background. Packed with fruit and terroir, with a gorgeous mouthfeel. (JM)" (10/2007) 94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "A solid showing and certainly a more restrained, structured vintage for this cuvee, the 2005 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de mon Aïeul shows a deep black color to go with e...

Established in 1900 in the heart of Gigondas, Gour de Chaulé is now run by the founder's great-great-grandson, Paul Fumoso. For a time, this was a woman-led property. Aline Bonfils earned fame for the domaine, and was actively involvedin making wines and creating domaine bottlings before handing the reigns to her daughter, Stéphanie. The estate is comprised of 15 hectares planted in the surrounding region, 10 of which are within the Gigondas appellation.

99 points Jeb Dunnuck: "I was blown away by the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Chaupin, a 100% Grenache release that comes almost exclusively from the Chaupin lieu-dit in the northern part of the appellation. It's never as inky-hued or powerful as the Vieilles Vignes but always screams Grenache with its sexy, ripe, seamless, and remarkably elegant style. The 2020 offers a translucent ruby/purple hue as well as incredible aromatics of blackberries, black raspberries, peppery garrigue, herbes de Provence, and flowers, and it opens up nicely with time in the glas...

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "I was able to taste the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Chaupin on two occasions, rating it one point higher on one of those as well. Incredible notes of red and black fruits, violets, scorched earth, ground pepper, and Provençal garrigue notes define the nose, and it’s a darker, richer, slightly more powerful wine than usual, while still showing the inherent elegance and finesse this cuvée always shows. Give bottles 2-3 years and enjoy over the following 15-20. Don’t miss it! (JD) 98+" (11/2021) 98 points Wine Enthusiast: "This ...

96-98 points Wine Advocate: "From seven tiny parcels in and around the lieu-dit of Pignan (sandy soils), the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Les 7 de Pignan looks to be even better than the debut 2020 (none was bottled in 2021). Seductive notions of stone fruit, roses and black tea leaves show incredible complexity and elegance in this full-bodied wine that's concentrated and tannic yet supple, finishing long and velvety. Wow. The irrepressible Boirons (Nicolas and his wife, Jeanne-Claire) were their charming, smiling selves when I arrived at their cellars on ...

98 points Decanter: "Rich black cherry and strawberry fruit, with impressive density and palate weight. The balance is good, with fur-coat tannins and admirable freshness. Yet again, this vintage turns out a wine seemingly far too good for the climatic conditions – but the evidence is here. Will be ready much sooner than the Vieilles Vignes cuvée, and is very close if not equal in quality, but just in a less robust, structured style. Parcels of Grenache planted on lieux-dits Chapouin, La Janasse and La Crau, the oldest planted in 1912. (MW)" (09/2023) ...

91 points Vinous: "The 2022 Rosé Vaucluse is pale pink with orange hues in the glass. The bouquet slowly forms, showing savory herbs, crushed stone and tomato leaf. Further coaxing brings forward young peach and lemon oils. This envelops the palate with ripe pit fruits and sweet spice hints. A crunchy sensation appears as saline minerals collect toward the close. The 2022 finishes perfumed and light on its feet. Ripe melon notes bring the taster back to the glass.(EG)" (05/2023) K&L Notes: Composed of 88% Grenache Noir, 10% Mourvèdre, and 2% Grenache B...

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Domaine de la Janasse "Chaupin" Châteauneuf-du-Pape ((91-93VN), 91RP, 91WS). Vinous: "Limpid ruby. Intense, highly perfumed blue fruit and floral pastille aromas are complemented by suggestions of allspice and licorice. Silky and focused on the palate, offering concentrated boysenberry and cherry flavors that take a darker turn as the wine opens up. Finishes impressively long, displaying lingering berry and floral nuances, gentle tannins and a touch of smoky minerals. (JR)" (04/2016)
Starting Bid: $80.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1998 Château de la Gardine Châteauneuf-du-Pape (94WS, 92RP). Wine Spectator: "A wonderful, masterful wine. Both firm and opulent, it displays a nice dig into the Rhône terroir as it brings out wet earth, mineral and an interesting, chewy tannin structure. A high-voltage drinking experience, with lots of fruit, spice and mocha. *Ranked #22 on Top 100 of 2000, Spectator Selection* (PM)" (12/2000)
