90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Coconut and vanilla aromas mix with a hint of fresh pear. The palate shows tire rubber and peat smoke, with a hint of black licorice and a flare of clove heat. Adding water brings more licorice and a flurry of black pepper to the fiery finish. *Best Buy* (KN)" (12/2021) Whisky Advocate: "The only survivor from Old Pulteney’s core range shake-up of 2018, this has been matured in first and second-fill bourbon casks. The nose is delicate, with almonds, honey, and floral notes. Malt and toffee on the palate, with spicy oak and a...

Dalmore 10 Year Old "Hart Brothers Finest Collection" K&L Exclusive Cask Strength First Fill Sherry Butt Unchillfiltered Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) (Previously $75) (Previously $75)
Top Pick!
Dalmore is one of those malts that will forever be controversial. They've made a name for themselves selling old sherry barrels at astronomical prices, but we rarely see the malt bottled as single barrel or at cask strength. When we do come across the odd independent bottling, it's almost always in second or third fill barrels destined otherwise for some big-name blend and while those can be lovely whiskies, they simply don't capture the essence of The Dalmore like you might expect. That is, of course, because the brand has become synonymous with sherry ...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Smoky and earthy aromas mingle with fresh apple. The slightly viscous palate echoes that earthiness, layering on campfire smoke and apple cider, finishing with a brisk cinnamon and clove tingle. (KN)" (12/2021) Whisky Advocate: "This expression replaces the previous 17 year old, and has been aged in bourbon and second-fill American oak casks, followed by a period in first-fill Spanish oak oloroso butts. Sherry is immediately obvious on the nose, with fresh-baked fruitcake aromas, honey, and allspice. The palate is sweet and ...

95 points Wine Enthusiast: "Aged in a series of barrels—first American oak, then transferred to a former oloroso Sherry cask and finished in used Cabernet Sauvignon barriques—this Scotch would be an outstanding dessert accompaniment too. Look for dusty cocoa and lots of Sherried dark fruit, like figs and dates, wrapped in caramel and baking tones that linger on the spicy finish. (KN)" (12/2015) 91 points Whisky Advocate: "Aged in a mix of American white oak barrels, oloroso casks, and cabernet sauvignon barriques. Sherry, vanilla, caramel, ripe cherrie...

Whisky Advocate: "Half the whisky was aged in bourbon barrels, the other half in sherry casks. This whisky has always been on my short list as one of the finest, most affordable 12 year old single malts available. While the price may have gone up a bit (I remember when it was $20!), the quality remains the same. It’s fresh and lively. A well-balanced dram, with its tell-tale orange marmalade accompanied by tangerine, pineapple upside-down cake, vanilla-soaked barley, subtle brine, and caramel, all leading to a spicy cinnamon and dried vanilla finish. A n...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This amber Highland Scotch was aged in former bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. The end result is a robust, full-bodied, luscious sip, with plenty of rich, concentrated caramel, toffee, fudge and cocoa. It finishes long and bracing, with clove, cigar wrapper and espresso accents. (KN)" (12/2015) Whisky Advocate: "Matured in American oak and Oloroso Sherry casks. The nose is fragrant with honey, vanilla, ginger, orange marmalade, and a hint of smoke. Relatively full-bodied, with flavors of tangy orange, marzipan, sherry, bitt...

90-95 points Wine Enthusiast: "The initial aroma is large, biscuity and grainy sweet; the aroma then becomes more sugar biscuit-like and a touch salty. Palate entry finds generous and malty-sweet flavors; by midpalate distinctive notes of black pepper, seaweed, oaky vanilla, honey and dark caramel are added. Finishes elegantly, sweetly and malty, with just a barely discernible influence of the sea. *Highly Recommended, Best Buy* (PP)" (06/2006) Wine Spectator: "Fruity. Like a short walk around some impressive scenery, this starts with a whiff of peat t...

The Dalmore is finally starting to listen to Scotch fanatics. The first release in The Dalmore Prinicpal Collection is bottled at a higher proof (43.8%) and finished in PX casks bringing much more oomph to the glass. This luscious offering is first matured in American white oak ex- Bourbon barrels, gaining hallmark notes of soft vanilla, toffee, and honey. A proportion is then transferred to rare casks from Gonzalez Byass, which have previously held sweet Pedro Ximénez sherry and nurtured by Master Whisky Maker and Blender Gregg Glass. After approximatel...

Whisky Advocate: "This was initially matured in American white oak barrels before spending an unspecified finishing period in port pipes. The nose is soft and fragrant, with vanilla, red berries, toffee, and ultimately, damsons. Viscous on the palate, with blackcurrants, plums, port wine, and cinnamon. Lively spices, coffee grounds, Seville orange, and dry oak in the finish. (GS, Summer 2019)" K&L Notes: Distillery notes: "The Dalmore Port Wood Reserve starts its journey in the finest American white oak ex-bourbon casks. The precious liquid is then spli...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Dark dried fruits, notably fig and raisin, and light vanilla entice the nose. Vanilla is more pronounced on palate, accompanied by mouth- watering salinity and an echo of Sherry-dipped fruit. Adding water releases a billow of peat smoke and black pepper heat on the bracing exit. Finished in oloroso Sherry casks. (KN)" (12/2021) K&L Notes: Loaded with chocolate and spice the 18 year from Old Pulteney drinks like a sea salted chocolate bar with candied citrus peel. It's warm, rich, and smooth. A littel honeyed malt sweetness b...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This is a 12-year-old Scotch finished in Sherry casks for an additional three years. The result is a deep amber hue and dried cherry and cinnamon aromas. The palate opens with oak and dried fruit, finishing with dark cinnamon, cocoa, clove and a lively hint of lemon peel." (12/2021) Whisky Advocate: "Finished in sherry casks. The nose is slightly reticent, with orange peel, instant coffee, and a hint of burning coal. More obvious orange notes on the palate, with milk chocolate and drying oak. Dark chocolate and slightly bitt...

The long awaited release of 25 year old Balblair is finally here. The distillery used to bottle everything as vintage releases, but when they revamped the lineup a few years ago to be a more traditional age statement lineup - they also improved the overall quality of their core items. One of the more reasonably priced OB 25 year age statements in today's market, this is a must have for any fan of Balbalir or Highland Scotch in general.

Few whiskies are as defined by their place as Old Pulteney. After a quarter century in the salty air of Wick along the Caithness coast, the 25 year is as elegant as it is bright and fresh. It's caked with spices and chocolate but lifted up by the brine and zesty citrus notes. As one of the most affordable 25 year old distillery releases, this is not to be missed.
