Established in 1895 by Felician Madkaud, the Madkaud brand has never before been available in the US. Felician Madkaud was born in 1857, the son of former slaves and his rum was produced at the old Font-Capot distillery from 1895 untile 1970. He passed the brand and his oenologcal heritage through the generations to the current owner, Stephane Madkaud. Currently distilled at AOC regulated facility in Sainte-Marie, it represents a very traditional style Vieux agricole and is aged for 4 years in new premium french oak barrels.
