"Aged in French oak wine barrels for twelve months with distinct characteristics of fruit and subtle oak" sounds more like a description of wine than beer. However, Temptation is indeed beer. Temptation is a Blonde Ale aged in French oak chardonnay barrels with Brettanomyces. Flavors of wine and oak absorb into the brew throughout its aging. Temptation is re-fermented in the bottle to create its carbonation--a process commonly used to make fine champagne and sparkling wine. Spent yeast forms a thin layer of sediment to remain in the bottle. 7.25%ABV / 1....

This crisp, bright, tangy yet ultimately fresh and appley cider really hits the spot. The balance between rich, phenolic, fine bitter notes, and bright, sour apple high tones is spot on. In Asturias they drink more sidra than anywhere else in Spain (possibly in Europe?) and judging by the quality of this bottling, I can see why! (Joe Manekin, K&L Spanish & Portuguese wine buyer)
Price: $12.99

Luis Acebal is a fourth-generation cider maker in Asturias, using native Asturian varietals. These are bone dry, acid-driven ciders fermented spontaneously on the lees, and bottled without fining or clarification. Traditional Asturian ciders are poured from high overheard to generate a fine mousse, as these ciders are typically still. Since the bubbles dissipate quickly, the cider should be consumed in small pours immediately after serving. This ritual is repeated multiple times throughout. But if you're not into the flair (or the attendant mess), you ca...

"Daisy Cutter Pale Ale is one of the first beers we brewed at our brewery on Lincoln Ave. It began as a special release bomber beer, but caught fire both in and outside the brewery. At the time, 2009, there were some local pale ales that hit with natural power, but not many. Daisy Cutter’s lush and dank characteristics steadily carved out a place within the Chicago brewing landscape. Today, Daisy Cutter is a call brand that we continue to keep raw and relevant. Blended pine, citrus, papaya and mango. Dank. Apparent biscuit, lingering, obscenely dry." (...

Brewed with a generous portion of wheat and our own special blend of spices, this beer is light and slightly cloudy in appearance, with a spicy aroma. Overall, it is a beer that is very drinkable and smooth any time of the year. Pair with a salad with vinaigrette dressing or a fresh goat cheese. Excellent accompaniment to poultry and fish entrees or a dessert such as a spicy apple pie."

From the brewery: "Technically, this is neither an ale nor a lager. The base recipe is for a Golden Ale, but we do the primary fermentation with 100% brettanomyces. The brett gives it some sour notes but not as much as if it had been aged with lacto and pedio. It’s rather refreshing on a warm day!" The juice and barrels are from Dutton Vineyards in the Russian River wine appellation here in Sonoma County. There is no lactobacillus or pediococcus added to the beer, only brettanomyces. The tart acidity comes from the wine grapes. This beer is delicate and beauti...

Wine Enthusiast: "This profound, off-dry sparkling pear cider from Normandy comes from biodynamically farmed, 300-year-old trees." (05/2014) K&L Notes: A sommelier by training, in 1992 Eric took over his family's estate and orchards. His goal was to revolutionize the cider industry and bring it into restaurants, high-end retail and export markets. A close friend of his, Didier Dagueneau, the icon wine-maker in Pouilly-sur-Loire encouraged him down the path of producing ciders from apples and pears that are like no others. Ciders that make one draw comp...

Take the finest very pale barley malt, add a shovel or two of wheat malt for smoothness, leave all the bittering to some of the most delicate aroma hops from Bavaria and you get a beer that dances on your tongue like Champagne, yet satisfies with the robust, intricate mouthfeel of a Pilsner. This is Kölsch, named after the German name for the Queen of the Rhine, Cologne. Greatness doesn't just happen overnight. Local brewers have been refining the recipe verifiably since 1396. Today it is one of only two commercially produced so-called hybrid styles, com...

There Does Not Exist "Vague Future" Black IPA, California (16oz can)
New!
Vague Future is our take on the once forgotten Black India Pale Ale. This beer is built like a West Coast style IPA but with the addition of roasted and high dried malts to add color and malt complexity to the mix. The malts lay down notes of bittersweet chocolate, African coffee beans, and burnt sugar, however, these notes are quick to disappear from the palette as the beer is fermented dry. Amarillo, Simcoe, Citra, and Azzaca (hot side & double dry hop) lay down aromatics of citrus, tropical fruits, and blueberry. In a glass void of light the future i...
