96 points Wine Enthusiast: "One of the most iconic Trappist beers, this pours a gorgeous golden-orange color, with a large, frothy off-white head that lingers. Bottled with brettanomyces, you can immediately pick up on the wonderfully complex, dry, funky earth and barnyard notes, with additional aromas of orange peel, green apple, gingered white tea, yeasty spice and freshly baked bread. The medium-bodied mouthfeel boasts bright, fizzy carbonation and refreshing acidity, making the palate seem light and approachable. It finishes dry and spicy, with flavo...

98 points Wine Enthusiast: " This is wheat-forward, with a soft, country malt aroma that is like getting lost in a vast field shortly before harvest. It is blended from seven different Lambic barrels and aged in oak. This was bottled in September 2017 and the brewery says it is best enjoyed before October 2038. Good luck waiting that long. The intangibles of this beer will have the mind racing and lulled by its grace at the same time. *Top 5 Beers of 2021* (JH)" (03/2021) K&L Notes: Drie Fonteinen Oude Geuze Cuvée Armand & Gaston is a geuze released in...

Beer Advocate ranks the Drie Fonteinen Golden Blend Oude Geuze 99 points. *World Class* The lovely Valley of the Senne is one of the only places (together with the Pajottenland) where Lambik, Kriek and Geuze are still brewed in the traditional manner. Notes from Shelton Brothers, the importer: "Drie Fonteinen is the only remaining traditional geuze blender in Belgium, using only 100% spontaneously fermented lambic beer, aged in oak casks with no artificial sweeteners or other additives. The blendery is connected to the very popular Drie Fonteinen Restaur...

bottling date: 14/04/2020 Sherry barrel Geuze In the spring of 2019, we received a series of very old Oloroso, PX and Amontillado barrels through a local Jerez cooperage. The aromas were a mix of typical fine sherry notes and toasted, peated characteristics, which we have never experienced before. However, after a year of bottle conditioning – because of the higher peated aromas, albeit balanced – we decided to release this bottle not as a Zenne y Frontera, but as a peated geuze. This blend, like blend 62, comes mostly from Oloroso barrels. The weighte...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "#10 of top 25 beers of 2015. Cinnamon, dark dried fruits, caramel squares and malty sweetness dance around the moderately intense nose. The mouth is big and very concentrated with medium-high carbonation and flavors of granulated brown sugar, molasses, baked apples and caramelized figs. Very filling with a lot of complexity; the more it warms, the more depth of flavors it shows. A beautiful example of the style: fantastically balanced, decadent and sure to age gracefully." (12/2009) K&L Notes: From the brewery: "Rochefort 8,...

One of the best known Quadrupels available on the market, the St. Bernardus Abt 12 has earned its place in the spotlight. The current release is based on one of the original recipes from the Trappist Monks of Westvleteren, which was given to the cheese-making abbey of St. Bernardus. (From WWII until 1992 the beer was sold under the names Trappist Westvleteren, St. Sixtus and Sixtus.) The beer is dark and full-bodied, with a fruity nose and complex palate, striking the perfect balance between malty, bitter and sweet.

From the brewery: "The Roman Empire had a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ - festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen - that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient - keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale."

Unquestionably, one of the best Saisons every year. From the distributor: "Fruity, complex Saison beer from the Ardennes forest from a tiny farmhouse brewery very hard to find even in Belgium."

This is, quite simply, a wonderful beer. It is exceedingly pale, with just a hint of color in its cheeks from the dash of crystal malt. It has a massive orange fruit aroma from the challenger hops, balanced by biscuity malt. 3.6% abv

Alcohol: 9.5% vol. "The Bons Voeux is a blond top fermentation beer with refermentation in the bottle. Since 1970, the brewery has been brewing a special beer to give as a new years present to their best clients. (the name of this beer, 'Avec les bons Voeux de la brasserie Dupont' means 'With the best wishes of the brewery Dupont'). Because of the increasing success, they started to commercialise this 'cadeau' but kept the name. Although the demands were considerable, only a small quantity was brewed, so they had to make a reservation list, even months b...

The blendery is connected to the very popular Drie Fonteinen Restaurant in Beersel, on the outskirts of Brussels. Oude Geuze Boon is a monument of taste with an alcohol content of 7%. It’s a magnificent blend of 90% mild 18 month-old lambic, 5% strong 3 year-old beer and 5% very young lambic, which provides fermentable sugars and wild yeasts. All of their beers are aged in oak casks, mixed in a vessel of 25,000 liters and then chilled. Before bottling, they bring the mix to fermentation temperature. The bottles are then placed in an air-conditioned room, which leads to a secondary fermentation in the bottle. This is when the lambic becomes gueuze. After several mon...
