2018 Domaine Méo-Camuzet Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
95 points Decanter: "Jean-Nicolas made two cuvées of Clos de Vougeot in 2017, but reverted to one in 2018. Fresh, charming and refined, the result is a supple, floral Pinot Noir that's almost good to drink straight out of the barrel, with aromatic cinnamon spice, fine tannins and very well-integrated 80% new wood. Not the most structured Grand Cru perhaps, but this is very sweet and engaging. (TA)" (10/2018) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is also showing very well, exhibiting aromas of sweet wild berries...

98 points Decanter: "From a 1.37ha parcel in the section of the Clos known as Les Marets Hauts, next to Drouhin-Laroze. Made with a little more than half whole clusters, gentle extraction and two winters in mostly new casks, this is a wine of superb elegance, with a mixture of ripe black and red berry fruit, a silky texture on the palate, along with a fresh, concentrated feel that lasts through the lingering finish. Drinking Window 2024 - 2039. (CC)" (10/2020) 93-95 points Vinous: "The 2019 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is limpid in appearance. The bouquet...

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The smoked bacon-scented, medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Clos Vougeot is an outstanding, medium to full-bodied wine. Silky-textured, pure, and sultry, it is a well-focused, decadently styled, spicy blackberry, candied blueberry, and cherry-flavored offering. Its thick yet juicy layers of dense fruits coat the palate. While it is packed with super-ripe flavors, they are well-delineated. Its impressively long finish reveals loads of supple, cherry-coated tannin. This wonderful Clos Vougeot should be consumed b...

94-96 points Vinous: "The 2019 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a very perfumed, floral bouquet of ebullient dark plum and elderberry fruit intermingled with light sea spray/seaweed aromas, all beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, a fine bead of acidity and a crunchy, minerally finish that does this ancient clos proud. Superb. Give it 5–6 years in bottle. (NM)" (12/2020) 91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Distinctly earthy aromas are comprised by notes of both red and dark currant along with pretty floral wisps. T...

92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Earthy red berry fruit aromas trimmed in a discreet touch of wood spice are laced with earth, forest floor and violet hints. The full-bodied and tautly muscled broad-shouldered flavors possess excellent power and detail on the stunningly long, mildly rustic and youthfully austere finish. This is quite serious and clearly very structured yet it stops short of being overtly old school in style; that said, this will not be an early drinker." (01/2017) 92-94 points Vinous: "(Faiveley has one parcel in the middle of ...

2017 Domaine d'Eugénie Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (Previously $360) (Previously $360)
Top Pick!
94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A distinctly cool and very reserved nose only grudgingly offers up notes of red current, dark cherry and spice and freshly turned earth. There is excellent vivacity to the equally big-bodied and powerful flavors that also possess excellent mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in a succulent but entirely serious youthfully austere finish that is quite firmly structured. Over the last few years the Clos de Vougeot appears to have taken over the crown as the best wine in the range and so it is again in 2017." (01/2020)...

92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " A distinctly earthy and exceptionally fresh nose speaks of the pure essence of various red berries and a whiff of underbrush. There is both excellent density and richness to the imposingly scaled flavors that culminate in a delineated, sappy and markedly austere yet refreshing finale. This is a classically styled Clos that will take its sweet time maturing." (01/2021) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of cherries, wild berries, incense and loamy soil, framed by a deft touch of spicy new oak, i...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Rich aromas of cassis, plums, warm spices, dark chocolate and toasty new oak introduce Boillot's 2019 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru, a full-bodied, deep and concentrated wine that's layered and elegantly muscular, with lively acids and powdery structuring tannins. Youthfully reserved, this has turned out very nicely. (WK)" (01/2021) 92 points Decanter: "This comes from two parcels totalling less than one-third of a hectare, both in Grand Maupertuis near the top of the Clos. The grapes were completely destemmed prior t...

95 points Decanter: "A beautifully perfumed Petits Vougeots with lifted red flowers, raspberries and sweet spices. A wine of great finesse, refined tannins and a supple, lingering length – the palate texture is closer to a Vosne-Romanée than a Vougeot. A small proportion of whole clusters were added during fermentation; aged in barriques (two-thirds new) for over a year. (JCL)" (05/2020) 90-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Vougeot 1er Cru Les Petits Vougeot has turned out very well, opening in the glass with a lovely bouquet of cassi...

95 points Decanter: "Hudelot-Noëllat's 0.8ha holding is made up of two parcels, both of them in the best bit of the Grand Cru. Aged in 40% new wood, this is a not a blockbuster style by any means, emphasizing freshness, balance and harmony instead. Floral, racy and supple, it has well-integrated 40% new wood, some vanilla spice and a poised, elegant finish. (TA)" (10/2019) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of wild berries, spices, peonies, dark chocolate and subtle hints of grilled meats introduce the 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, a...

95 points Decanter: "Alain Hudelot-Noëllat sold his parcel at the bottom of the Clos, but the domaine retains 0.69ha at the top of the slope in the lieux-dits Chiores and Garenne. These vines were planted in 1950 and deliver ripe, forward red and black fruit, with a great complexity of savoury, mineral and floral undertones. The texture is fresh and lively, yet there is impressive density lurking in the background. One of the top bottlings from the Clos de Vougeot. (CC)" (10/2020) 93-95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Clos de Vougeot Gr...

2019 Chateau de la Tour Clos Vougeot Grand Cru (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
New!
92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with aromas of sweet berries, raw cocoa, loamy soil and incense. Medium to full-bodied, deep and elegantly muscular, it has lively acids, powdery tannins and a classically balanced, youthfully reserved profile. It's a touch finer-boned and more vibrant than its 2018 counterpart at the same stage. This was a fascinating tasting with father François Labet and son Edouard, who are together pushing Domaine Pierre Labet and the Château de la Tour to new qualitat...

93-96 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "*Don't Miss!* A deft touch of wood sets off the ripe, dense and quite elegant black cherry aromas that are layered with notes of earth and floral nuances. This is also impressively complex with wonderfully rich, intense and well-structured big-bodied flavors that brim with an abundance of dry extract on the mouth coating, balanced, long and extremely serious finish. One difference between this and many youthful examples of the appellation is that there is almost no austerity present on the vibrant backend. This to...

2019 Chateau de la Tour Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
New!
96 points Decanter: "This super-cuvée is made using only the first bunch after the graft on vines at least 100 years of age and is not made every year. The 2019 is spectacular. Slightly reserved at present, the tightly packed black and red fruit opens on the palate, accented with notes of violets, mineral, earth and wild herbs. This is powerful and rich, with firm tannins, lots of body, and the ability to age almost indefinitely. Drinking Window 2029 - 2069. (CC)" (10/2020) 94-96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru Vi...

92-94 points Vinous: "The 2017 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is completely de-stemmed and matures in 80% new oak. It has an expressive and aromatic bouquet with pretty blueberry, raspberry and iodine aromas that burst from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very effervescent from the start with vivid red and black fruit infused with orange zest and light fig notes. Very fine. (NM)" (01/2019) 89-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Firm reduction overshadows the fruit at present. More positively, there is excellent energy and density ...

91-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A very fresh nose of red currant, earth and soft floral aromas merges into cool, precise and utterly delicious medium weight plus flavors that possess a mouth coating and moderately austere finish. This has fine balance and the finish is just as persistent as that of the Ech but it's not quite as complex. To be fair, it may achieve more depth in time as there is good underlying material. Still, I prefer to remain conservative at this early stage." (01/2012) K&L Notes: PLEASE NOTE: This product is offered as a co...

96 points Wine Spectator: "Dark and smoky, delivering black cherry, black currant, graphite and wet earth aromas and flavors. Powerful, yet reined in by the lively acidity. The tannins are refined and well-integrated. Excellent length. (BS)" (11/2017) 92-95 points Vinous: "Dark red with ruby tones. Reduced aromas of black cherry, licorice and wild herbs. Then wonderfully silky yet also utterly primary in the mouth, offering high-pitched black cherry and herb flavors and finishing with substantial granular tannins. Almost austere but not exactly hard, e...

Bid on this 2-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 2014 Domaine Faiveley Clos De La Roche Grand Cru (94WS) and 1-bottle of 2014 Domaine Faiveley Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru ((92-95BH), 94WS, (90-93VN)). Of the 2014 Domaine Faiveley Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Allen Meadows - Burghound writes: "There is enough reduction present to suppress the underlying fruit. On the plus side there is a lovely sense of tension to the very fresh, focused and overtly powerful big-bodied flavors that possess both first-class volume and precision, all wrapped in a youthfully austere and explosively long finale. The tannins are relatively fine-grained for the appellation but note well that this is a take-no-prisoners example and as such it would be pointless to open a bottle before its 10th birthday. " (01/2016)
Starting Bid: $195.00

95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the nose is similar to the regular cuvée from a compositional standpoint but the fruit is denser, slightly riper and more complex as well. The very concentrated broad-shouldered flavors possess excellent concentration as the copious dry extract both coats the palate and buffers the extremely firm tannic spine on the explosively long but impeccably well-balanced finish. This is distinctly old school in style and will require extended cellaring to arrive at its peak. I would not recommend buying this ultra-serious...

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Notes of ripe, red cherry on the nose of this wine are displayed with fresh-faced purity. The palate adds supple richness, offering dense, supple tannin that serves as a concentrated backdrop for the lovely fruit. Freshness pervades everything and highlights the slight, delicious crunch of the youthful tannins. This all comes together in unforced, juicy harmony. (AK)" (12/2020) 93-95 points Vinous: "The 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has an intense bouquet of blueberry, cassis and iodine aromas, almost Chambolle-like in styl...

Bid on this bottle of 2005 Laurent Roumier Clos Vougeot Grand Cru. Cousin to Christophe Roumier, who now runs Domaine Georges Roumier, Laurent began as a négociant renting vines from his more well-known family holdings, but he has since accumulated a small domaine of his own. His holdings in the Clos de Vougeot are at the very top part of the vineyard where it adjoins to Grands Echezeaux, a plot he acquired on purchase from Domaine Georges Roumier in 1997. The 2005 vintage in Burgundy was a banner year of once-in-a-generation quality, so this wine's pedigree is above reproach. It is just now coming into its drinking window, thanks to the well-endowed tannins that suffuse virtually every bottling from a top-flight cru in this remarkable vintage.
Starting Bid: $140.00

94 points Wine & Spirits: "This comes from Jadot’s five-acre holding in Clos Vougeot. The vines in Jadot’s holding are 50- to 60-years-old, located from halfway to two-thirds of the way up the hill. My notes from the blind tasting read like a lecture from Jacques Lardière, the recently retired technical director at Jadot, who often spoke as if he’d been dynamized for a biodynamic prep: 'Floral buzz. The feel of limestone in the tannins. Energized. Vigorous.' Aside from the energy in the wine, there is a lovely richness, the powerful tannins seamlessly me...
