95 points Wine Advocate: "The 2021 Pinot Noir Estate, made with whole clusters but without new oak, has a pale ruby color and aromas of cranberry, sour cherry, orange peel, potpourri, iodine and flint. The medium-bodied palate is fresh and pure with soft, chalky tannins, loads of crunchy fruit, and tremendous bitters-like accents driving the detailed finish. It's a transparent, easy-to-drink Pinot Noir to enjoy over the next 3-5 years. (EB)" (12/2022) 93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Light in the glass, this refreshing bottling pops on the nose with brisk c...

This is a charming Chardonnay from a small grower in the Mâcon. Lionel Rhedon-Marin is a graduate of the College of Viticulture in the nearby village of Davaye, where Guffens trained. All of their young-vine fruit is sold in bulk to one of the better negociants, who is pleased to have it, since Lionel is such a careful grower. But their old-vine fruit, all over 45 years of age, is kept for the domaine wine, which is charming and elegant. This is a balanced, well-made and wonderfully crisp and mineral-driven Mâcon. Only K&L's direct import makes this pric...
94 points Decanter: "Pleasure-packed, balanced, bright, and fresh. A terrific showing for the excellent 2021 vintage. Leads with vibrant red berry fruits and flowers. With just over two weeks macerating on the skins and 12 months ageing in 40% new French oak, the tannins are pixelated, the acid tension vivid, and the medium to full body is flush with loads of crunchy dark berry fruit. It’s a downright delicious red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc. (JC)" (05/2023) 93 points James Suckling: "Aromas of blackberries, blueberries, bl...

95 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Coming all from the Funsten Ranch in the Dry Creek Valley and 100% Zinfandel, the 2021 Zinfandel East Bench has a rich, more subtle style in its aromatics, with ripe plum, cigar, spice, and earthy nuances, and it certainly plays in the darker, red and black-fruited end of the spectrum. These all carry over to the palate, where the wine is medium to full-bodied, has a deep, expansive, concentrated mouthfeel, velvety tannins, terrific mid-palate density, and a gorgeous finish. This richly textured, incredibly impressive Zinfandel ne...

93-95 points Wine Advocate: "The 2021 Pinot Noir Willamette Valley features bright cranberry, raspberry, orange peel, aniseed and lavender on the nose. The medium-bodied palate already feels complete, offering a balance of grainy tannins, mouthwatering acidity and generous, perfumed fruit. As it spends time in the glass it gains amplitude as it continues to unfold its concentrated flavors, and its juiciness calls you back to take another sip." 94 points Wine Spectator: "***No. 9 in WS Top 100 Wines of 2023*** Precise and elegantly structured, with detai...

Jean-Michel Giboulot took over the family business in 1982 and has put together one of the best bang-for-your-buck portfolios in all of Burgundy over the last three-plus decades. Giboulot's wines straddle the line between traditional and modern, with reds that have crunchier fruit and fine tannins, but plenty of ripeness and purity.

This wine comes from one of the more renowned Pinot Noir producers in Northern California. Really! But, we offer this beauty at a price much lower than what you’d pay at the winery, as for decades now, our Kalinda private label has been providing K&L customers with awesome wines at a fraction of what they'd normally pay under the producers' mainstay labels. Naturally, no producer wants their wines on the market for less than what they'd usually sell for, so the trade-off is anonymity.
93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Delicate aromas of pithy citrus are accompanied by wild white flowers, orange oil chamomile, soft tall grass, and wet stone. This medium-bodied wine offers good texture, yet remains light on the palate with its crisp acidity. An expression of finesse and purity, the palate mirrors the nose perfectly and finishes with light saline minerality." (11/2023) K&L Notes: Domaine Renaud is a small operation in the town of Puissé making Mâcon, Pouilly-Fuissé and St. Veran from twelve hectares of estate vineyards. Their cellar is moder...

The Verquière estate has been passed down from father to son for four generations and is now managed by Thibaut Chamfort. Following age-old traditions and sustainable practices, the estate was certified organic in 2014. Following their wines for many years, we were happy to add them to our Direct Import portfolio in 2015. The Côtes-du-Rhône is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, grown on chalky clay soils with loads of large pebbles in the vineyards. Ordaz Family Wines is dedicated to single-vineyard production. The Cabernet vines for this bottling are from the dry-farmed Montecillo Vineyard, planted in 1970, just south of Kenwood. The winery notes: "It consistently produces wonderfully dark, almost blueberry like fruit. With cool mornings that lead to hot afternoons, we take extra care to manage the canopy for optimal flavors, while protecting the fruit from too much sun exposure that can wreck havoc during the early stages of berry formation and subsequent ripening."
96 points Decanter: "Grapes for this wine come from Morandé’s El Ensueño vineyard in the coldest part of Lo Ovalle in Casablanca, just a few kilometres from the Pacific. The maritime climate and morning fogs help the grapes to retain a high level of natural acidity. The wine is 85% whole-bunch pressed, with the remaining 15% macerated for six to eight hours. Fermentation is in 2,000-litre oak foudres (80%) and cement egg (20%), with six months of lees ageing. Peter Richards MW: Reminiscent of white Graves. Creamy, generous texture, and a lovely long fini...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This showcase of Rhône freshness, with 23% Syrah added, is always one of the most coveted and fastest-selling bottlings for Doug Margerum. Very light in the glass, it hits the nose with engaging aromas of strawberry, cherry, hibiscus, white pepper and clean ash. The palate grips with chalky glee, delivering raspberry, pomegranate and cranberry flavors. (MK)" (03/2023) 93 points Wine Spectator: "A red with verve and precision, this offers well-sculpted raspberry and huckleberry flavors that interplay with mocha espresso, lico...

Nos Jolies Ouvrées Bourgogne Chardonnay beautifully showcases the elegance and complexity of Burgundy. Crafted from Chardonnay grapes, this wine offers a harmonious balance of ripe fruit flavors, minerality, and refreshing acidity. 93 points James Suckling: " This shows aromas of sliced apples, lemon curd, lime zest, leafy herbs and white flowers. Some raw almonds and crushed stones, too. Round-textured with a medium to full body and vivid acidity. It shows complexity and length with a clean and polished finish. Fernao pires, arinto and verdelho. Drink or hold." Finca Garabato is a parcel of Valtea's oldest wines. This wine spends a year in tank with extended lees contact. Very difficult to beat for twenty dollars. *Best Buy* (MA)" K&L Notes: An incredible value in quality Willamette Valley Pinot Noir made by the folks at Elk Grove.
A rich ruby red with notes of violets and red berry fruits, this Cabernet Franc is nicely layered on the palate with brightness running throughout and just a touch of smoke mixed in with some purple fruits. Amats is both the brand name of the Txakoli as well as one of Zudugarai's vineyards. It's a beautiful vineyard, a sandy substrate covered in naturally growing green cover crops between the rows, with the Cantabrian Sea in full view to the north. 92 points Wine Advocate: "The new young red 2021 El Predilecto recovers Predilecto, which was a historic brand of the house, a wine with less aging than the rest and more fruity character. In this case, they want it to show the fruit expression of the vineyard without oak. They call it the new old concept in Rioja, what the wines used to be before the arrival of the French, pure fruit.
