98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Imperiale is undeniably one of the big successes in the vintage. A blend of 95% Grenache and 5% other permitted varieties, partially destemmed and aged all in concrete, its deep ruby color is followed by awesome notes of blackberry jam, crushed rocks, graphite, and garrigue. A big, rich, unctuous wine, it has beautiful purity, integrated acidity, building tannin, and a great, great finish. I wouldn’t touch bottles for another 4-5 years, but it’s a tour de force in Grenache I wish every reader could tas...

2015 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Back In Stock!
98 points Wine Spectator: "This offers a drop-dead gorgeous core of cassis and raspberry pâte de fruit flavors that hold center stage but still allow notes of Lapsang souchong tea, anise, incense and shiso leaf to chime in. Very long, with a sublime feel through the mineral-tinged finish. So seductive already, but this should cruise in the cellar. *Collectible, Ranked #14 in Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2017* (JM)" (11/2017) 97 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bottled in May, the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape is a floral, elegant, unbelievably complex wi...

94 points James Suckling: "A very convincing style. This has plenty to offer in terms of deeply focused blackberry and red plum fruits, but it is the structure that really impresses. Long, assertive and driving, it finishes with succulent grippy appeal. " (08/2017) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Habemus Papam suffers only by comparison to the domaine's other micro-cuvées. It still delivers lovely cherry and stone fruit notes, medium to full body and ample concentration. The tannins are a bit grippier in this wine...

95 points Wine Spectator: "Features dark currant, fig and boysenberry preserve flavors that are densely concentrated and supported by authoritative grip built on graphite and cast iron accents. Ganache, black tea, singed bay leaf and juniper notes add detail and range through the finish, where latent minerality lurks in reserve. (JM)" (11/2019) 94 points Vinous: "Deep ruby. A deeply perfumed bouquet evokes fresh dark berries, violet, olive paste and smoky minerals, with a suave floral topnote. Offers densely packed black and blue fruit, floral pastille...

96 points Vinous: "Inky ruby. An alluringly perfumed bouquet evokes ripe black and blue fruits, candied licorice, exotic spices and incense, and shows a bright mineral topnote. Stains the palate with intense, spice-laced blackberry, boysenberry and violet pastille flavors that deepen and become sweeter with aeration. Delivers a compelling blend of richness and finesse and finishes extremely long and spicy, with smooth tannins sneaking in late.(JR)" (04/2018) K&L Notes: John Livingstone Learmonth The Cradle of the Rhone: "very dark robe. The bouquet has...

2015 Domaine Santa Duc "La Crau Ouest" Châteauneuf-du-Pape (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "My top pick from the outstanding lineup of Santa Duc's 2015 Châteauneufs was the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape La Crau Ouest, of which only 200 cases were produced. This pure Grenache offers sumptuous aromas of violets and roses to go along with cherries and licorice. It's full-bodied, intense, deep and long, with tannins that properly support the wine's complexities rather than overwhelming them. (JC)" (10/2017) 91-93 points Vinous: "Lurid ruby. Powerful cherry and raspberry liqueur aromas are complicated by intens...

96 points Vinous: "Deep lurid ruby. Heady, smoke- and spice-accented boysenberry, cherry liqueur and violet aromas show excellent clarity and pick up a hint of olive with aeration. Sweet and broad on the palate, offering deeply concentrated yet energetic dark berry preserve, cola and floral pastille flavors, plus a suggestion of spicecake. The extremely long, velvety finish features an echo of juicy, sweet blue fruit and harmonious tannins that come in late. (JR)" (04/2018)

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Châteauneuf-Du-Pape Cuvée Réservée is a beautiful, classic wine from the Feraud family that offers powerful notes of blackcurrants, peppered meat, garrigue, and that classic Pégau spice that's hard to find outside of this iconic estate. Possessing a deep ruby/plum color, beautiful complexity, full-bodied richness, and firm tannin, it has closed up slightly since I tasted it from barrel and is going to need 6-12 months of bottle age to bounce back, but this is a concentrated, powerful vintage for this estate that reminds m...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Saintes Vierges is the most flattering of Santa Duc's current releases, offering lushness and generosity on the palate, notes of cherries and licorice, creamy-supple tannins and a mouthwatering finish. It's a blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Counoise. Gigondas-based Yves Gras has quietly grown his holdings in Châteauneuf du Pape to six hectares, from which he's producing four separate cuvées. I'm sure it will hurt some feelings to say an outsider like Gras is producing some of th...

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The top cuvée from Delas is the 2015 Hermitage Les Bessards, and it's always 100% Syrah from the steep, broken granite soils of the Bessards lieu-dit. Aged 18 months in 30% new barrels, its purple/plum color is followed by a huge nose of blackcurrants, graphite, toasted spice, crushed rocks and saddle leather. Powerful, massively concentrated, and tannic, it has a broad, expansive, heavenly texture, a thick mid-palate (you could almost use a fork for this beauty), and a great finish. Despite the richness level, it stays balanced ...

97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vielle Vignes carries a deep ruby/purple-tinged color as well as a classic bouquet of black raspberries, ground pepper, garrigue and hints of graphite. Gorgeously pure, elegant and seamless on the palate, with building tannin, it's impeccably balanced and shows the best of this vintage. " (10/2017) 95 points Wine Enthusiast: "With its complex nose melding whiffs of fresh raspberry and violet with savory spice, smoke and nut tones, it's hard not to be mesmerized by this wine's bouquet alone. The palat...

95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Half of the fabulous 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee les Origines was aged in new barriques, the rest in concrete vats, so there is some oak in play here, but the blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 20% Syrah has absorbed much of it. This full-bodied wine is tannic and rich, with fruit shading from cherries and red plums all the way through to plum and cola. Mocha and baking spices appear on the long, velvety finish. (JC)" (10/2017) 94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "The classic blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre an...

94 points James Suckling: "This has an array of darker berry and plum fruits with a brambly, lightly spicy edge, too. The palate delivers impeccably fresh, lithe and detailed tannin texture, as well as blue fruit flavors. Juicy and energetic. Long finish. Try from 2020." (08/2017) 94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Le Pied de Baud, a blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault, offers compelling scents of rose petals and raspberries on the nose. While not as richly textural as some of the other cuvées, it's ...

94-97 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Lastly, the 2015 Gigondas Hautes Garrigues (60/40 Grenache and Mourvèdre) is a beauty boasting killer notes of dark fruits, crushed rocks, pepper, garrigue and scorched earth. This seriously good 2015 has building richness, a stacked mid-palate and a huge finish, all suggesting short-term cellaring will be your friend. It will keep for two decades of more." (10/2017) 93-95 points Vinous: "Full ruby. Smoke-accented aromas of red and dark berry liqueur, incense, spicecake and candied flowers show outstanding energy and clarity....

98 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Aged 36 months in new oak, the colossal 2015 Hermitage Ex Voto is up with the finest vintages of this cuvée to date and is certainly in the same ballpark as the 2009 and 2010. This deep, powerful, muscular Hermitage boasts a saturated purple color to go with its huge nose of crème de cassis, freshly crushed rocks, incense, charcoal, and spring flowers. Full-bodied, with good acidity and huge richness and density, it requires 5-7 years of cellaring and should drink well for 40+ years. (JD)" (12/2018) 97 points Vinous: "Deep, glas...

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Lastly, and a legendary wine in the making, the 2015 Hermitage La Chapelle is reminiscent of the 1990 with its full-bodied, opulently, sexy, yet concentrated style. Offering sensational notes of blackcurrants, smoked herbs, beef blood, and chocolate, it’s a huge yet elegant wine that has masses of sweet tannin, incredible purity and finesse, and a killer finish. It’s the finest wine from this estate in close to 30 years. Hats off to Caroline Fray and Jacques Desvernois!" (01/2018) 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2...

Bid on this magnum of 2015 Chimère (Sine Qua Non) Châteauneuf-du-Pape (1.5L) (97JD). Jeb Dunnuck: "The 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Chimère is a selection of Mourvèdre made by the Maurel brothers of Clos Saint Jean, oenologist Philippe Cambie, and Sine Qua Non genius Manfred Krankl. I believe there’s a touch of Grenache in the blend, as well as some Clairette and other varieties, but the bulk of this cuvée comes from the famed la Crau lieu-dit and is brought up all in demi-muids. It offers a beautiful perfume of sweet kirsch and blueberry fruit intermixed with loads of licorice, sweet spice, violets, and crushed rocks. Full-bodied, super intense, sweetly fruited, perfumed, and complex, it’s a gorgeous 2015 that does everything right." (02/2018)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2015 Domaine Courbis "Les Eygats" Cornas (100JD, (95-97RP), (93-95VN), 94WS). Jeb Dunnuck: "Lastly, the inky colored (it's even deeper than the Sabarotte) 2015 Cornas Les Eygats comes from a cooler terroir located in the northern part of the appellation. Raised in equal parts new and used barrels, it offers an utterly profound bouquet of blackberries, blueberries, scorched earth, pepper and liquid flowers. Possessing sensational purity of fruit, integrated acidity, sweet tannin and perfect balance, it's another remarkably elegant yet powerful, heavenly Syrah from this estate that readers shouldn't miss. It's up with the finest Cornas ever made. Bravo!" (01/2018)
Starting Bid: $320.00

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2015 M. Chapoutier "Les Granilites" St. Joseph (94RP, 93DC, 92JD, 92JS, 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The powerhouse 2015 Saint Joseph les Granilites sacrifices none of its intricate crushed stone elements to the warmth of the vintage, it just adds layers of creamy, ripe blackberries over the top. This full-bodied, rich and concentrated wine should provide close to two decades of drinking pleasure. (JC)" (12/2017)
Starting Bid: $125.00

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 2015 Domaine De Saje '1600' Chateauneuf du Pape (93RP, 90JD). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A rarity in Chateauneuf du Pape, Domaine de Saje's 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape 1600 features Counoise as the largest varietal component (42%), followed by Grenache (20%) and Mourvèdre (20%). The balance consists of tiny amounts of the other permitted varieties. Given Counoise's ability to retain acid and ripen at relatively low brix, could this be one possible way forward for an appellation struggling with high alcohol levels? The wine is complex, blending notes of cherry, cracked pepper, garrigue and clove, but also full-bodied and silky in texture, with a long finish. Impressive! (JC)" (10/2017)
