92 points Vinous: "The 2014 Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata Vigna Rocchette is a sinewy, old-school Barolo that needs to be opened at least a few hours in advance to allow the searing tannins to soften. 2014 La Ca' Nova "Montestefano" Barbaresco
New!
96 points Vinous: "The 2014 Barbaresco Montestefano is fabulous. Rich, ample and explosive, as the best wines from this site are, the 2014 covers every corner of the palate with intense fruit, bright acidity and structure. Pietro Caciorgna is located in the town of Casole d 'Elsa in the heart of Tuscany. Giovanni and Fulvia Caciorgna moved there in 1953 with their seven children and set up a small farm with a vineyard. The term "alberaia" refers to a row of trees, usually along a river, where fairs would be held or "fair dell'Alberaia." Winery tasting notes: "It has a good balance, a slight acidity, a medium body and a pleasant round finish. Alberaia has a personality that meets all tastes and offers a simple and pleasant company for every occasion."

93 points Decanter: "The grapes for this Brunello come from Fuligni's oldest vines which typically go into the Riserva. In 2014, harvest was pushed back until mid-October in order to achieve full ripeness. The wine spent the first four to five months in small 5hl barrels to stabilise the colour, with the remaining time spent in traditional large botti. It opens with iron and savoury spice before revealing leather and tobacco leaf notes. There's definitely some flesh to pad out the structure in this well-balanced example, with smoky incense notes on the f...
