92 points Vinous: "The 2014 Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata Vigna Rocchette is a sinewy, old-school Barolo that needs to be opened at least a few hours in advance to allow the searing tannins to soften. Dried cherry, cedar, tobacco, dried herbs and licorice emerges with coaxing, all framed by dusty, tannins. The 2014 is a classic Barolo from one of the region's few living old-timers. There is a lot of rusticity, but in the right context and with the right frame of mind, also plenty to appreciate. (AG)" (01/2021)

2014 La Ca' Nova "Montestefano" Barbaresco
New!
96 points Vinous: "The 2014 Barbaresco Montestefano is fabulous. Rich, ample and explosive, as the best wines from this site are, the 2014 covers every corner of the palate with intense fruit, bright acidity and structure. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, orange peel, spice, tobacco, leather, smoke and licorice infuse the exotic, resonant finish. The Montestefano is always a wine of breadth. As always, the Vietti's Masseria is a wine that has Barolo-like structure and depth, partly because it is vinified and aged pretty much along the same lines as those wines. I expect the 2014 will require at least a handful of years to shed some tannin and start showing some of its inherent inner sweetness. There is so much to look forward to. Bright acids and a firm spine of tannin give the red-to...

96 points James Suckling: "Impressive fresh leather-clad red cherries with a subtle earthiness in the background. Quite pure. Floral and aromatic. The palate has a very elegant yet powerful core of blueberries and cherries. A smooth release of fruit sweetness into the fresh and vibrant finish. Elegant and classic. More open than normal. Impressive now but better from 2022." (04/2018) 95 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This wine was made in 2011 and 2012 but not in 2013. The 2014 Barolo Falletto (white label) is fascinating to taste right after t...
