2012 Dom Pérignon Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
98 points Decanter: "What a magnificent bouquet for this Dom Pérignon 2012! Pastry, a hint of smoke and autolytic notes provide a compelling counterpart to eager yet elegant aromas of citrus (lime, tangerine and kumquat) joined by those of fresh fruit, herbs, liquorice, and menthol. There is even a refreshing note of ivy. The palate is tense, vibrant, and very fresh despite its impressive density, which meets its match with an unending finish. This 2012 incarnates the very essence of Dom Pérignon with such a concentrated degree of intensity, along with a...

98 points Wine Enthusiast: "This single vineyard, one of the steepest in Champagne, produces fabulous wines. Richness restrained by the minerality from the terroir is balanced by the structured Pinot Noir fruits that bring touches of toast, spice and white fruits. Drink through 2025 at least. (RV) 12/2021" (12/2021) 97 points James Suckling: "Aromas of bread dough, mandarin, strawberry, raspberry and light dry earth follow through to a full body with lightly candied fruit, phenolic tension and a clear, bright finish. Mineral. Pure. Dry and layered at t...

2012 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Back In Stock!
97 points Decanter: "Soft and juicy with flattering, bright red fruits. The alcohol is showing through just a little bit but it's countered by precise acidity. Starting to show really nicely when tasted in 2019, taking on cedar and tobacco leaf. This is a happy, juicy style, full of life - flamboyant but stylish. (MW)" (10/2019) 97 points Wine Spectator: "A stunner, with a gorgeous cassis aroma that soars from the glass, reinforced by a core of cassis, cherry and plum pâte de fruit, hoisin sauce, warm ganache and well-roasted apple wood notes. Hefty, b...

90 points Decanter: "This extra brut blend is made from equal amounts of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a dosage of 4g/l. There is no malolactic fermentation. It has a lovely fresh yet buttery nose redolent of white fruits. It's a delicate, light and upright Champagne that seems ideal as an aperitif thanks to its perfect balance and zesty style (YC)." 2012 Veuve Clicquot "La Grande Dame - Yayoi Kusama Edition" Brut Champagne
Top Pick!
96 points Decanter: "A generous golden colour betrays the dominance of Pinot Noir in the blend; this theme thereafter maintained by aromatics of fig, wild strawberries and Mirabelle plums; behind that, jasmine, red apples and a distant whiff of woodsmoke. Engaging already, in other words. One’s impressions are confirmed and amplified on the palate, with the aspiration voiced by both chef de caves Dominique and Didier, to allow the ‘cooler’ Pinot Noir sites full rein. This is eloquently evidenced by a subtle and deftly textured structure, the primary frui...

100 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Pure perfection in Syrah, the 2012 Ermitage Le Pavillon comes from the pure granite soils of the Les Bessards lieu-dit and was brought up in around 30-35% new demi-muids. This blockbuster yet magical wine offers everything: incredible aromatics, huge richness and intensity, no sensation of weight or heaviness, and a finish that just goes on and on. With lots of sweet dark cassis and raspberry fruit, it has an almost Méal-like sexiness yet shows more and more minerality as well as tannins on the finish. It’s a quintessential, awes...

93 points Vinous: "(vinified with 100% whole clusters; from vines that were planted in 1911 and 1913): Saturated ruby. Ripe dark berries, candied plum and violet oil on the highly perfumed mineral- and smoke-accented nose. Supple and broad, offering palate-staining black raspberry and floral pastille flavors and a touch of white pepper. Finishes very long, spicy and floral, leaving a gently sweet blue fruit note behind. (JR)" (02/2015) 91 points Wine & Spirits: "Balthazar blends this wine from two vineyards, one of centenary vines he bought from his un...

92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Generous if not dominant wood serve as a not-so-subtle backdrop to the intensely sauvage and spicy red currant, cassis, plum and pungently earth aromas. The attractively textured and mouth coating large-scaled flavors enjoy copious amounts of palate coating and tannin-buffering dry extract along with plenty of minerality that adds lift to the imposingly structured finish. This massive effort is very definitely old school and there will be no point in opening this before at least a decade of aging has occurred. *Do...

95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the nose is similar to the regular cuvée from a compositional standpoint but the fruit is denser, slightly riper and more complex as well. The very concentrated broad-shouldered flavors possess excellent concentration as the copious dry extract both coats the palate and buffers the extremely firm tannic spine on the explosively long but impeccably well-balanced finish. This is distinctly old school in style and will require extended cellaring to arrive at its peak. I would not recommend buying this ultra-serious...

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A subtle touch of wood sets off ripe and relatively elegant notes of earth, dark cherry and spice. The mid-palate is dense, serious and powerful with plenty of mouth coating sap that helps to buffer the very firm tannic spine on the moderately austere, backward and built-to-age finale. While this is presently backward it should be approachable after 6 to 8 years of bottle age though note that it should live for a very long time. For readers having a child or grandchild in 2012 this would be a good choice to buy in qu...

92 points James Suckling: "Crazy nose of red licorice, dark fruits and walnuts. Full body, chewy tannins and a juicy finish. This is rich and structured. Try in 2017." (02/2015) 92 points Vinous: "The 2012 La Gaffeliere comes across as quite compact today, although the underlying material appears promising. The 20% Cabernet Franc is evident, especially in the wines tannic profile. Hints of iron, smoke and leather open up with time in the glass, but the 2012 is going to need at least a few more years in bottle. Still, there is plenty to look forward to....

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Domaine Pierre Labet Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes ((89-91VN), 89BH). Vinous: "Good bright, dark red. Very ripe aromas and flavors of raspberry, coffee and smoked meat. Sweet, silky and highly concentrated, with ripeness bordering on roasted. Finishes fat, rich and persistent. Will this bring enough verve into the bottle?" (01/2014)
Starting Bid: $150.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2012 Domaine Latour-Giraud Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "Champs Canet" (93BH, 92VN). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A restrained and very cool nose offers up notes of citrus, pear, acacia blossom and a hint of spice. The round and seductively textured medium-bodied flavors possess a highly appealing sense of underlying tension along with plenty of volume before culminating in a beautifully complex and sneaky long finish. 2012 is a powerful yet elegant vintage for this wine that really coats the palate with dry extract and which will allow this to be enjoyed young if desired even though it should reward at least 5 to 8 years of cellar time." (09/2015)
Starting Bid: $225.00

Bid on this bottle of 2012 Domaine Dujac Clos de la Roche Grand Cru (96JG, (94-96RP), 96VN, 95BH, 93ST). Vinous: "Dujac's 2012 Clos de La Roche bristles with palpable energy and intensity. One of the more polished wines in the range, the Clos de la Roche is all about saline-infused energy and brilliance today. I very much like the precision here, but time has shown that the Clos de la Roche only starts to blossom with considerable bottle age. Today, the layers of dimension are present, but also compacted. In a few years, the 2012 will be truly magical. (AG)" (04/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 2012 E. Guigal "La Landonne" Côte-Rôtie (100RP, 98WS, 97JS, 96DC, 95VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The utterly perfect 2012 Côte Rôtie La Landonne is the star of three single vineyards in 2012. Possessing an off-the-charts sexiness in its layered, concentrated and full-bodied style, it has a wealth of fruit, ripe tannin, a stacked mid-palate and pedal-to-the-metal notes of black fruits, scorched earth, caramelized meats and crushed rocks. While this cuvée normally needs a decade to become drinkable, there’s a sweetness of fruit here that allows it to offer incredible pleasure even today. Nevertheless, give bottles 5-6 years and enjoy over the following three decades. (JD)" (12/2016)
Starting Bid: $275.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Haut-Bailly, Pessac-Léognan (96JD, 96VN, 94DC, 94RP, 94WE, 93WS). Vinous: "The 2012 Haut Bailly is quite fragrant and inviting. Dark raspberries, mint, crushed flowers, spices and rose petals all lift from the glass in this feminine, gracious Haut-Bailly that offers considerable near and medium-term appeal. All the elements fall into place in an effortless, stunningly beautiful wine endowed with personality and class. One of the wines of the vintage, the Haut Bailly will drink well for two decades-plus. This is a superb showing from proprietor Bob Wilmers and his team headed by Véronique Sanders. The decision to lower temperatures in fermentation and go for a soft, gentle extraction, along with strict selection has paid off big time. (AG)" (01/2016)

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2012 Soutiran "Brut Millésimé" Grand Cru Champagne (95WE, 94RP). Wine Enthusiast: "The partial wood aging has brought both complexity and rich softness to this fine blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Its fine fruits are gently maturing into a ripe, rounded character that will stay for many years. This is a fine wine that will be ready from 2021. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (12/2020)
Starting Bid: $280.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru "Célébration - 153rd Anniversary Cuvee" (92BH, 92VN). Vinous: "Jadot’s 2012 Beaune 1er Cru Celebration is aromatically quite expressive, with lovely bright, floral notes that play off a core of red berry and stone fruits. The gracious, almost feminine, bouquet is alluring and suggests a wine that is quite open, but the palate sensation is completely different. Tiny yields and high skin to juice ratios yielded red Burgundies with huge tannic clout that obscures the fruit, which is exactly how the wine comes across in tasting. It will be interesting to see if the 2012 softens over time, or if it gains volume with aging. Today, it is decidedly on the austere side of things. (AG)" (03/2018)
Starting Bid: $100.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 M. Chapoutier "de l'Orée" Ermitage Blanc (99JD, 99RP, 97WS, 94JS, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Ermitage Cuvee de l'Oree is still firing on all cylinders, sporting heavenly notes of powdered rock, white flowers, honeyed orange blossom, white currants and a saltiness that keeps you coming back to the glass. Full-bodied, voluptuous and decadent, drink it anytime over the coming 2-3 decades. (JD)" (12/2014)
Starting Bid: $360.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Domaine Vincent & Sophie Morey Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Truffière" (91BH, (89-91ST)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Outstanding! A notably ripe nose features essence of pear and white peach along with hints of acacia blossom and oak toast. The mouth feel of the medium-bodied flavors is thick to the point of lush opulence thanks to the abundant dry extract that coats the palate on the balanced and lingering finish. This is impressive because despite how rich this is, there is absolutely no sense of undue heaviness, in part because the minerality adds lift. Worth considering" (06/2014)
Starting Bid: $100.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2012 Domaine Antoine Jobard Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes" (93BH, (90-93ST)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is already quite expressive with its pretty nose of white peach, dried apricot, apple and floral scents. The palate impression is quite tight and particularly so for the vintage with notably rich yet focused and intense medium weight flavors that exude a fine bead of minerality that adds lift to the clean, dry and balanced finish that displays more than a touch of youthful austerity. In fact this terrific effort is borderline racy and is perhaps a bit less Charmes in style than usual at present, though I suspect that it will flesh out considerably once its allowed a few years of cellar time. *Outstanding*" (06/2015)
