Deep vibrant color, spicy blackberry and jammy raspberry flavors, and exceptional balance. Ripe round fruit. Very powerful. Rich and long with super mouthfeel. This will be a fairly early drinker. Watch for it. It’s exceptional. Blend is 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 1% Malbec. 89-91 points from Robert Parker...'One of the vintage's most successful offerings, the opaque purple-colored 1999 Gruaud-Larose reveals the estate's tell-tale aromatics of saddle leather, aged beef, blackberries, cassis, licorice, and toba...

1999 Léoville-Barton, St-Julien
Top Pick!
92 points Jane Anson: "Smoked earth, tobacco, drying tannins, savoury black fruits, this is classically balanced claret, understated and juicy, with effortless grip, fully in its drinking window but no need to rush, and almost certainly a vintage that will suprise with its stubborn ability to stay at exactly this drinkable, shareable point for decades to come. 50% new oak." (06/2023) 91 points Wine Spectator: "A powerful nose, with sweet tobacco and sultana, follows through to a full body, featuring ultrafine tannins and a long, long finish, as well as...

93 points Int'l Wine Cellar: "Knockout nose of fresh and dried fruits, honey and white flowers. Delicious fruit salad and citrus skin flavors complicated by spices and honey. Lovely ripe acidity leavens the 22 g/l residual sugar. Very rich and dense, and much easier to taste today than the Rangen. I like the balance here." (07/2001) 92 points Wine Spectator: "A complex, layered Riesling, in both flavor and texture. Rich for the vintage, this offers apricot, honey, spice and mineral flavors on a warm lush texture. It's easy to overlook the weight and st...

1999 Whitehall Lane Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Back In Stock!
Whitehall Lane Winery was founded in 1979 by two brothers who wanted to make Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from this prime Rutherford location. The winery was named after the road that runs along the southern border of the winery. In 1993 the Leonardini family of San Francisco bought the property, and they continued the quality and brought the winery to the fame it is today: one of the most recognizable labels and most visited tasting rooms in all of Napa Valley.

1999 Latour, Pauillac (lightly scuffed label, loose capsule)
New!
94 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Reminding me slightly of the 2001, the 1999 Château Latour offers an utterly classic Latour elegance and complex in its beautiful dark fruits, lead pencil, cedarwood, dried tobacco, and assorted spice-like aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has a balanced, mature, seamless mouthfeel, polished and integrated tannins, and a great finish. It's not a blockbuster but excels on its finesse and complexity. I was able to follow this bottle for two days, and it never showed a hint of oxidation or fatigue, and unquestionabl...

96 points Bob Campbell: "Big and hugely dense wine with attractive spice, licorice, tar, fruit cake etc etc. A big and powerful wine that promises much. Long. (BC)" (05/2004) 95 points James Halliday: "Concentrated blackberry and licorice fruit, the oak perfectly integrated. A powerful, masculine style, a touch more austere than the '98." (07/2003) 94 points Wine Spectator: "Not quite as broad and generous as riper vintages, but tremendously classy, offering smoky, earthy blackberry, plum and currant fruit that compete effectively against cedary oak ...

90 points Wine Spectator: "Delivers lots of blackberry, mineral and mint on the nose. Full-bodied, with plenty of fruit and racy, polished tannins on the finish. This can go on for many years. But why wait? (Web-2010)" Decanter: "Very fine colour, masses of ripe Cabernet fruit, lovely extraction, impressive. 19.5/20 points" (05/2001) Jancis Robinson: "Rather luscious nose and thick and dense. Lots of fruit. Still quite dry finish. Muscular. Trying to punch at top vintage weight. Medium body - a real success and very good value. " (09/2009) Wine Advo...

Wine Advocate: "The deep ruby/purple-colored 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Calistoga Cuvee (75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot) reveals more intensity and flavor out of bottle than it did from cask. Ten to twenty percent new oak was utilized. The sweet nose of black cherries and currants is followed by a medium-bodied red displaying notions of earth, licorice, tobacco, and spice. It is a supple-textured, delicious Cabernet. (RP)" (08/2002) Wine Spectator: "Defty balanced, with ripe fruit and fresh leather, currant, blackberry and black cherry flavors. Tan...

90 points Robert Parker: "The 1999 Legacy is Stonestreet's top proprietary wine (a blend of 70.3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28.1% Merlot, and 1.6% Cabernet Franc). It possesses a Bordeaux-like profile (although it is fuller-bodied than most Bordeaux) with notes of cocoa, chocolate, black cherries, cassis, and liquid minerals. The wine is smoky, rich, and sweet on the attack, with firm tannin in the finish. This still young, unevolved red requires 3-4 more years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2018." (08/02)

89 points Wine Enthusiast: "No tasting note." (08/2003) K&L Notes: This Pinot Noir is a blend from several small vineyards within the Green Valley, Russian River Valley and the greater Sonoma Coast.

The incredible Baraillon estate run by the Claverie family is one of Armagnac's hidden gems. We've championed their exceptional brandies for over a decade, but the world is only waking up to how incredibly special they are now. Recently, they've been forced to restrict sales to prevent a total degradation of their stocks even for their best customers. So we're happy to get and sell whatever we can from this special estate, which will be extremely scarce in the future and likely experience precipitous price increases due to lack of availability. Few are m...

While we've spent years singing the priases of the small but excellent California Brandy traditions that have grown up on the backs of visionaries like Germain-Robin, Osocalis, and St George. We are thrilled to be able to bring serious Oregon brandy to our shelves as well. While places like Armagnac and Cognac have made brandy their wheelhouse, Oregon by contrast, has become known for the exceptional table wines they produce from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and brandy has been relegated to a few enterprising individuals with a passion for distillation. Bid on this bottle of 1999 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Cuvée Duvault-Blochet" (93VN, 92BH, 90ST). Vinous: "The 1999 Vosne-Romané 1er Cru Duvault-Blochet, the debut release in the modern era, was beginning to show some signs of bricking on the rim. The bouquet is a treat: decayed red berry fruit, sage and peppermint, just a soupçon of wild fennel all at the liminal point as primary tips into secondary aromas. The palate is soft and mellow on the entry with a subtle meaty/dried blood quality, fine tannin and well judged acidity that keeps this linear and focused. There is just a pinch of spice on the finish that strangely brought to mind more Chambolle than Vosne-Romanée, not that I am complaining. Tasted at the 1999 DRC dinner. (NM)" (04/2018)

Bid on this 3 liter of 1999 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (3L) (95VN, 91RP, 91WS). Vinous: "Captivating nose combines blackcurrant, crushed-rock minerality, licorice and violet, complemented by notes of cocoa powder, leather and earth. Densely packed and seriously concentrated, showing an almost chocolatey ripeness that's leavened by integrated acidity. Flavors of dark berries, minerals and flowers saturate the palate and spread out on the very suave, subtly long aftertaste. There's no easy sweetness here but the wine's noble tannins and considerable finesse give it great appeal today. This beautiful blend should go on for many more years on its extract and balance. (ST)" (05/2019)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1999 Luciano Sandrone "Le Vigne" Barolo (94RP, 94VN, 93ST, 93WS). Vinous: "The 1999 Barolo Le Vigne is striking and super-expressive today. Still quite youthful, the 1999 possesses lovely balance and plenty of silkiness. Subtle hints of sweet tobacco, mint, dried cherries, crushed flowers and anise are all layers of nuance in a finely sculpted, chiseled Barolo long on personality and class. This is a fabulous showing from Le Vigne. (AG)" (11/2012)
Starting Bid: $230.00

Bid on this 3-half-bottle lot of 1999 d'Yquem, Sauternes (375ml) (93JG, 92RP). John Gilman: I was very surprised to like the 1999 Yquem a bit better than I liked the 2001, as the vintage in general seems to be decidedly stronger in Sauternes in 2001. The 1999 Yquem offers up a complex and classic nose of toasted coconut, oranges, honey, butter, lovely soil tones, fresh apricot and a lovely framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and quite crisp, with lovely focus and balance, excellent mid-palate depth and a very long, bright and poised finish. A lovely bottle of Yquem. (09/2009)
Current Bid: $420.00

Bid on this 5-bottle lot of 1999 Jean Boillot Volnay 1er Cru "Les Fremiets" (92ST, 91WS). Int'l Wine Cellar: "Bright ruby. Superripe but utterly sappy nose offers an essence of black berries. Very tightly wrapped but pure and precise, with a superb core of sappy fruits and spices. Here the new oak has been thoroughly absorbed by the wine sheer density of material. The creamy, silky texture is apparent on the palate-staining finish. "Less dry than the last wine, " Boillot offers. (ST) 92+ " (03/2002)
Starting Bid: $250.00

94 points Decanter: "At this stage, there is sweet fruit and spice on the nose and a texture that seems silky, supple, and soft initially but shows a firm tannic grip at the end. It drinks well now and should last for the mid-term. A lovely wine from a less-than-promising year. The weather was humid and cloudy early and very hot from the middle of August, but the rain arrived at the end of the month, pushing up the picking date. 40% of the fruit went into the grand vin, a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18.5% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 1.5% Petit Ve...

Bid on this bottle of 1999 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan (93RP, 92JD, 92JS, 92ST, 92VN, 92WS). Wine Advocate: "Deep plum, currant, and mineral notes emerge from the concentrated, beautifully balanced, pure 1999 Haut Brion. It seems to be cut from the same mold as years such as 1979 and 1985. There is a hint of graphite in the abundant fruit. The wine is medium to full-bodied, nuanced, subtle, deep, and provocatively elegant. It is made in a style that only Haut Brion appears capable of achieving. The finish is extremely long, the tannins sweet, and the overall impression one of delicacy interwoven with power and ripeness. (RP)" (04/2002)
Starting Bid: $390.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1999 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac (91WS, 90VN). Wine Spectator: "Slightly earthy, featuring tobacco, cigar box and dark fruits. Full-bodied, offering supervelvety tannins and a long, rich finish. Plenty of subtle things are going on here in the glass, with lots of wonderful fruit underneath. Can't wait on this. Showing beautifully now. Better than ever. (JS)" (05/2010)

Bid on this 2-bottle tasting lot; including 1-bottle of 1999 de Fieuzal, Pessac-Léognan and 1-bottle of 1999 l'Eglise Clinet, Pomerol (93VN, 92RP, 91WS). Of the 1999 l'Eglise Clinet, Pomerol, Vinous writes: "The 1999 l’Eglise-Clinet is youthful in appearance with thin bricking on the rim. The bouquet is very attractive with scents of Dorset plum, wild strawberry, truffle and a touch of warm brick, all nicely defined. The palate is well balanced and underpinned by a fine thread of acidity, demonstrating a little more fruit intensity than its peers, with a finish not a million miles away from the superb 1999 Lafleur. This off-vintage l’Eglise-Clinet is frankly not far away in quality from more lauded vintages. Excellent. (NM)" (07/2019)
