1995 Haut-Brion, Pessac-Léognan
Back In Stock!
96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "It is fun to go back and forth between the 1995 and 1996, two superb vintages for Haut-Brion. The 1995 seems to have sweeter tannin and a bit more fat and seamlessness when compared to the more structured and muscular 1996. Certainly 1995 was a vintage that the brilliant administrator Jean Delmas handled flawlessly. The result is a deep ruby/purple-colored wine with a tight but promising nose of burning wood embers intermixed with vanilla, spice box, earth, mineral, sweet cherry, black currant, plum-like fruit, m...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Seavey has produced some exceptional Cabernet Sauvignons, and I predict the 1995 (950 cases) will be an unexpected winner in many blind tastings. It is performing even better this year than it did last, hence my elevated score. The color is an opaque purple. The wine displays a fantastic nose of classic black currants intermixed with cigar box and cedar scents. In the mouth, it is full-bodied and backward, but persuasively rich, layered, and marvelously well-balanced. There is a deep, sweet mid-palate and explosi...

1995 Pichon-Baron, Pauillac (3L) (depressed cork, bin soiled label)
New!
93 points James Suckling: "This is surprisingly delicate and fine now with currant and spice character and hints nuts. It is full body with refined texture and a beautiful finish." (06/2016) 91 points Vinous: "The 1995 Pichon-Baron is a wine that tasted extremely well several years ago, but I wonder how well it is continuing to evolve. The bouquet feels a little smudged, scents of iodine and cassis merging with blackberry and pencil lead; it is a little meandering and missing a sense of focus. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, crisp acidi...

1995 Beaulieu Vineyard "Tapestry Reserve" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend
Back In Stock!
90-93 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Ruby-red. Black cherry, minerals, cocoa powder, tar and eucalyptus on the nose. Juicy and rather high-pitched in the mouth, but pliant and ripe, with a firm shape and good freshness. Finishes with dusty tannins and good length. (ST)" (05/1999) 91 points Wine Spectator: "This outstanding Cabernet blend shows a supple, elegant band of cherry, currant, anise, sage and tar notes, wrapped in a polished texture, with well-integrated tannins. The finish is long, complex and lingering. Given the supplen...

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Joseph Phelps "Insignia" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (98RP, 94WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A wine of great intensity and richness, it displays classic notes of licorice, barbecue smoke, creme de cassis, cedarwood and forest floor. Full-bodied with sensational purity, a multidimensional mouthfeel and a long, voluptuous finish with no hard edges, it has only reached mid-adolescence, and has at least two decades of life ahead of it. (RP)" (11/2013)
Starting Bid: $180.00

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Harlan Estate Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (99RP, 96ST, 96WS, 95DC). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1995 Harlan Estate is almost as perfect as the 1994. It has gotten even better in the bottle, and remains one of the most remarkable young Cabernet Sauvignons I have tasted. The wine, a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Merlot, was aged in 100% new oak, which adds subtle pain grille/toasty scents. This opaque purple-colored Cabernet offers up a nose of smoke, coffee beans, black and blue fruits, minerals, and roasted herbs. It is extremely full-bodied, with spectacular purity, exquisite equilibrium, and a seamless personality with everything in total harmony. The finish lasts for more than 40 seconds. This extravagantly rich, profoundly complex 1995 will give its 1994 sibling a run for its money. (RP)" (12/1998)
Starting Bid: $600.00

Bid on this 3 liter of 1995 Sterling "SVR Reserve" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (3L). Founded in 1964 by Peter Newton, Sterling Vineyards started out with just a 50-acre parcel on the border of Calistoga. Over the ensuing years, Newton acquired additional vineyards, including Beart Flats and Bothe Ranch, planting the region's first significant planting of Merlot, as well as blocks of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc in addition to the ever-popular Cabernet Sauvignon.
Starting Bid: $130.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1995 Château Montelena "Estate" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (94RP, 92VN, 92WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "This is another winery where the 1995 may be as strong as the 1994. The color is an opaque purple. The wine is full-bodied and powerful, with classic notes of cassis intermixed with loamy soil scents, underbrush, and spice. There is massive body and elevated, but sweet tannin that is well-integrated with the wine's other components, a blockbuster mid-palate, and a finish that lasts for 30+ seconds. Modern-day society seems to always be in search of new stars, but this winery has been a super hero for great California Cabernet Sauvignon for nearly 25 years! Montelena's Estate Cabernet Sauvignons are equivalent to buying blue chip stock. They get better and better with age and as the vertical tastings I have attended so persuasively attest, they are still relatively young wines at 20 years of age! (RP)" (12/1998)
Starting Bid: $217.00

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Lopez de Heredia "Viña Tondonia" Gran Reserva Rioja (97DC, 97RP, 96JS, 94VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "1995 was an excellent and early harvest, the grapes achieved full ripeness and were harvested under the sun during two weeks starting October 9. The wine, which exceptionally achieved 13% alcohol, is the usual blend: 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacho, 5% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo (Cariñena). Like all 9f their wines, it was fermented with indigenous yeasts in old oak vats and as a Gran Reserva it matured in old American oak barrels for ten years! Yes, it was bottled in November 2006 and launched in 2015, a full 20 years after the harvest. This light-colored, ethereal 1995 is the essence of Viña Tondonia. It has developed aromas and complexity gained with the time in bottle, of incense, leather, cured meat, cherries in liqueur, cold bonfire and spices. The palate is super-tasty, with fully-resolved tannins and very good acidity. (LG)" (04/2015)
Starting Bid: $146.00

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Clerc-Milon, Pauillac (94WS). Wine Spectator: "Gorgeous aromas of black licorice, currant and blackberry. Full-bodied, with silky tannins and a long, caressing finish. Very tight, yet with air it comes around wonderfully. Give it time. This was always one of the buys of the vintage. (JS, Web-2007)" (03/2007)
Starting Bid: $94.00
