95 points Wine Spectator: "Dark, peppery and earthy overtones add substance to this chewy, remarkably complex red wine. It delivers a ripe core of plum and dried currant, then branches out, hinting at anise and mineral on the finish. Approachable now, but oh what a future this has. *Ranked #18 in Wine Spectator Top 100 of 1998* (HS)" (11/1998) 94 points James Halliday: "Medium to full red-purple; voluminous blackberry, licorice, black cherry and chocolate fruit aromas completely integrated with sweet vanillin oak on the bouquet; has a texture and struc...

An absolute gem in the Perfect Fifth line up. At 96 points it's close to the legendary Highland Park they've also bottled, but for half the price. Jim Murray says, "Anyone who remembers the old Springbank 25-year-olds of the early 1990s will recognize this aroma as a direct descendent - indeed it is near enough identical in both weight and character. The huge, nuggety oak is faultless (this must have come from a cask which had been seasoned in the old - virtually lost - style). Salt dominates but there are dried apricots and spiced pear, too. Meanwhile t...

Bid on this 1-500 ml bottle lot of 1993 Royal Tokaji Aszú Essencia (500ml) (97WS). Wine Spectator: Amazingly concentrated, this is like liquid gold. Very thick, rich and a bit heavy, with marmalade, honey and pineapple, it almost has the texture of maple syrup. Incredibly intense on the long, smoky, lemony finish. Drink now through 2035. (PM) (12/1997)
Current Bid: $408.00
Bid on this bottle of 1993 Araujo "Eisele Vineyard" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (96RP, 94WS). Wine Advocate: "As I reported last year, the 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard is a spectacular wine...The Eisele Vineyard 1993 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the half dozen or so candidates for wine of the vintage. I have tasted it three times out of bottle, once rating it as high as 98, but never less than 96. It is a mind-boggling Cabernet Sauvignon that is remarkably well-balanced for its size and intensity. The color is an opaque purple, and the nose offers up smoky, chocolatey, blackcurrant, licorice, and mineral scents. (RP)" (12/1996)
Starting Bid: $155.00
Bid on this bottle of 1993 Domaine Armand Rousseau Chambertin-Clos de Beze Grand Cru (98JM, 96BH, 96JG, 96RP, 96VN, 93WS). Jasper Morris: "Beautiful pure elegant colour with a stylish nose, young but opening nicely. Middleweight plus, a little sweetness, still good acidity. This becomes absolutely glorious in the glass, especially the bouquet, still exceptionally youthful, retaining a trace of bitterness on the palate. Lively dancing fresh red fruit, goshtbis is good. *5-Star Wine*" (11/2016)

Bid on this bottle of 1993 Carruades de Lafite, Pauillac. Wine Advocate: "Of the 64% of Lafite-Rothschild's harvest eliminated from the grand vin, only 40% made it into Lafite's second wine, Carruades de Lafite. It displays a character similar to Lafite's in its elegance and finesse, as well as fine ripeness, and tasty, curranty fruit wrapped in a medium-bodied, supple framework. A noteworthy introduction to Lafite-Rothschild's elegant style... (RP)" (02/1995)
Starting Bid: $140.00
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1993 Robert Ampeau Volnay 1er Cru "Santenots". Located in Puligny-Montrachet and led by Michel Ampeau, the domaine has over 10 hectares of vineyard lands in 10 different premier crus, with the majority falling in Meursault. These wines are known for developing very slowly and lasting for ages. The 1993, from a vintage that Wine Searcher rated 91 points, saying, "Top domaines made exuberant, racy, balanced wines, " is no exception.
Current Bid: $290.00
Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1993 Arnoux-Lachaux Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru "Les Poisets". From a critic favorite-estate, this is a lovely fully mature red Burgundy with loads to offer.
Current Bid: $600.00
Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 1993 Lynch-Bages, Pauillac (91RP, 90ST). Wine Advocate: "Ex-cellar bottle tasted blind at the Lynch Bages vertical. This has a lovely, smoky, cigar box nose inflecting the dense blackberry and briary fruit. Good definition. There is superb minerality here. The palate is full-bodied, firm tannins, blackberry, iodine, a touch of liquorice and spice. Nice cohesion towards the finish, very good concentration and focus although it needs time. (NM)" (03/2010)
