Bid on this bottle of 1982 Lafite Rothschild, Pauillac (98DC, 97RP, 97VN, 96JS, 95ST). Decanter: "As with the last time I drank this wine two years ago, it is still full of life and energy, with that classic Lafite quality of effortless drinkability. Utterly moreish, it has an amazing cinnamon-edged spice, rich and slightly exotic with brick-red colouring. To recap what we all know to have been a great season, 1982 saw a dry and mild spring, allowing an excellent flowering followed by a dry and hot summer with regular small showers and fresher nights in August. It was an easy harvest that saw an early and large crop, and in the vat rooms they say, it smelt of hot fruit jam. Baron Eric's memories say it all: 'The last day of harvest was a Friday and we knew right away how good the fruit in the tanks was. Everyone was in a great mood, the whole harvest felt like fun.' (JA)" (05/2018)
Starting Bid: $1,500.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 1982 Calon-Ségur, St-Estèphe (94JG). John Gilman: "The 1982 Calon-Ségur remains one of my favorite vintages all time from this excellent estate in Ste. Estèphe, and as it closes in on its fortieth birthday, it is at its apogee of peak maturity. The bouquet is deep, pure and superb, wafting from the glass in a blend of red and black cherries, cigar wrapper, a fine base of gravel soil tones, black truffles, a lovely touch of violets and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and beautifully plush at the core, with utterly classical proportions, superb soil signature and grip, mellowed, buried tannins and outstanding focus on the very long, complex and very classy finish. This is a great example of Calon at its zenith today, but with decades and decades of excellent drinking still ahead of it." (01/2020)
Starting Bid: $420.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1982 La Jota Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. La Jota Vineyard Co. was founded in 1898 by Frederick Hess, an immigrant from Switzerland, who established a German-language newspaper in San Francisco. No doubt influenced by other European immigrants involved in California's wine industry, Hess purchased 327 acres on Howell Mountain to plant vineyards.
Starting Bid: $120.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 1982 Ridge Vineyards Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. Richard Jennings: "Bricking medium red violet color; mature plum, cedar and leather nose; tasty, tart black fruit, fig, charcoal and mineral palate; medium-plus finish. 92+ pts." (03/2009)
Starting Bid: $540.00

Bid on this bottle of 1982 Opus One Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend (90VN). Vinous: "The 1982 Opus One is one of the more direct wines in this complete vertical. There is plenty of fruit in the glass, but at the same time, the tannins aren't as polished as they are in other vintages of the same era. Today, the 1982 comes across as a bit burly and rough around the edges. The depth of the fruit suggests the 1982 might actually still benefit from further time in bottle! The blend is 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc and 2% Merlot. (AG)" (06/2013)
