91 points Vinous: "The 1980 Taylor's Vintage Port has a deep, clear garnet colour. The nose is very backward, quite austere and conservative with notes of cherry and raspberry leaf, a touch of cigar box developing with aeration. It perhaps lacks a little joie-de-vivre, especially when compared to vintages in the 1970s. The palate is attractive though, with notes of raspberry, plum, white pepper, blood orange and a touch of apricot. This 1980 has good acidity but plays it safe, unwilling to take chances. Yet there is perceptible lushness on the finish wit...

92 points Wine Spectator: "Showing some attractive bottle bouquet and maturity but still on its way up. The Cabernet fruit is mature, offering rich layers of flavor and complexity and a long, full finish that keeps on developing... Another fine effort from Coppola." (10/1987) K&L Notes: Now newly minted as "Inglenook," the Neibaum-Coppola Rubicon is described by the winery as "reflect(ing) the richness and the ripeness of the Niebaum-Coppola Estate. The deep ruby red hue of the perfect ripening of the Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Merlot for extra fl...

Wine Advocate: "A lovely, medium-weight wine that has been very well vinified, the 1980 Pichon Lalande is delightful for current drinking. The bouquet offers spicy, cedary scents intermingled with copious ripe aromas of black currants. This is a soft, velvety, very nicely concentrated wine from a vintage considered poor to mediocre. (RP)" (01/1998) Wine Spectator: "Medium-bodied, with firm, slightly dry tannins and a plummy aftertaste." (11/1997) K&L Notes: Clive Coates: "Good colour for the vintage, but quite brown at the rim. Mellow nose, but begin...

Bid on this bottle of 1980 Lynch Bages, Pauillac. Vinous: "(5.1 g/l total acidity; 12.8% alcohol): Medium garnet-tinged red. Aromatic nose offers blackcurrant, Oriental spices and dried herbs. Simple and straightforward in the mouth, with clean flavors of dark berries, underbrush, licorice and ink. Very Pauillac, but a bit one-dimensional, with evolving aromas and flavors and modest length. (ID)" (01/2012)

Bid on this magnum of 1980 Beaulieu Vineyard "Georges de Latour Private Reserve" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (1.5L) (94RP, 91VN). Wine Advocate: "1980 was a longer, cooler growing season, producing wines of moderate alcohol and great freshness. Medium to deep brick colored, the 1980 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve Georges de Latour opens with provocative cherry cordial, vanilla pod and cardamom scents over a core of mincemeat pie, dried lavender, black tea and camphor plus a touch of bacon fat. Medium-bodied with just 13% alcohol, the mouth is firmly textured with ripe, grainy tannins, lively acid and layers of pure dried berries and exotic spices, finishing on a mint tea note. With the fruit and tannins still hanging in there, there’s no great rush to drink well-preserved bottles of this vintage. (LPB)" (05/2019)
