1949 Cantemerle (Mähler-Besse), Haut-Médoc (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!
Wine Advocate: "The largely forgotten 1949 Cantemerle is one of Bordeaux's greatest efforts. It has been many years since I have tasted it. It is an extraordinary wine. I suspect well-stored examples are as hauntingly perfumed and as suave, velvety, and rich as they were twenty years ago." (10/1994) K&L Notes: This original case came directly from the fabulous Mähler-Besse Cellar in Bordeaux. Fabulous condition. Extremely rare.
Price: $999.99

Bid on this bottle of 1949 Talbot, St. Julien. One of the most celebrated Fourth Growths, Talbot has made it a regular practice to wow fans and critics alike. From the château: "Médoc Grand Cru Classé, Château Talbot comprises 107 hectares of vineyard cultivated in the heart of the Saint-Julien commune, an outstanding appellation, as it counts no fewer than 11 classified growths. Ideally situated on the banks of the estuary of the Gironde on hilltops of alluvial gravel carried by the Dordogne River from the Massif Central and from the Pyrénées by the Garonne, Château Talbot’s terroir is exceptional."
Starting Bid: $300.00

Bid on this bottle of 1949 Gruaud Larose, St-Julien . Jancis Robinson : "Lighter bodied than the Haut-Brions from the 1950s tasted immediately before, with notably more acidity but this wine has great freshness and charm. This wine became sweeter in the glass but had lovely freshness. In a way it would have knocked all socks off had it not been preceded by the Haut-Brions. 18.5/20 points (JR)" (03/2018)
Starting Bid: $500.00
