93 points Burghound: "This displays a similar kaleidoscopic nose to that of the Suchots but with even more spice and hard as it is to believe, even more refinement and the aromas just ooze class. The ultra pure, sweet, precise and beautifully detailed flavors maintain their focus from start to the dazzlingly long and palate staining linear finish that also displays a subtle herbal component." (01/2007) 93 points Int'l Wine Cellar: " Good medium red. Darker fruits on the nose than the Suchots, with a component of smoked meat; less spicy and less express...

93-95 points Vinous: "The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has a pure and quite sensual bouquet with more complexity and fruité than the Beaumonts. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, taut and linear with a slightly candied and persistent finish. This is one of the best 2021s from Hudelot-Noëllat. (NM)" (01/2023) 94 points Decanter: "The ancient vines in the domaine’s 0.45-hectare parcel of Suchots were planted more than a century ago. They give a wine of impressive density and a lush, ripe red and black fruit sweet berry fruit charact...

1997 DRC Domaine de la Romanée Conti Grand Cru "La Tâche" (lightly scuffed label, signs of past seepage)
New!
93 points Wine Advocate: "Dark-colored, the aromatically tight 1997 La Tache reveals Asian spices, pepper, cherries and black currants. This is a velvety-textured, expansive, and massively ripe wine boasting flavors reminiscent of licorice and blackberry jam. It has superb depth of fruit (particularly for this sometimes 'simple' vintage), medium-to-full body, and admirable length to its supple finish. (PR)" (10/1999) 92 points Int'l Wine Cellar: "Full red-ruby. Expressive, slightly roasted aromas of strawberry, plum, currant, licorice, roasted nuts, ...

89-91 points Burghound: "Note: from 8 different vineyards, the most important of which is Aux Ormes A slightly deeper pitched nose combines notes of red and blue fruit along with hints of sandalwood and exotic tea. The mouthfeel of the more concentrated flavors is also quite sleek and tension-filled while delivering fine length on the balanced finale. This could use better depth, but more should reasonably develop if it's allowed a few years of keeping.*Burghound Outstanding!*" (01/2023) 88-91 points Jasper Morris: "Not especially deep in colour, the n...

95 points Burghound: "This is initially quite fragrant and expressive but the longer that the wine sat in the glass the more it progressively shut down and a great deal of swirling was necessary to liberate the mostly red berry fruit aromas that are liberally laced with a broad range of spice and floral elements, in particular rose petal. The broad-shouldered flavors possess a beguiling texture even though the supporting structure makes itself felt very quickly on the firm but not hard finish that goes on and on. While this is still clearly extremely you...

Since 1825, Domaine Faiveley has cultivated their vineyards with the greatest respect for the terroir of Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. Their goal is to create the very best wines that the region can offer. They characterize premium quality and unique expressions.

87-90 points Burghound: "A very Vosne-like nose is comprised by notes of exotic tea, plum and anise along with a subtle floral hint. There is again very good richness, volume and vibrancy to the medium-bodied flavors that conclude in a youthfully austere, balanced and sneaky long finale. This too could use better depth, but the underlying material appears to be present for that to occur in time." (01/2023)
Price: $129.99

91-94 points Burghound: "A brooding and still very tight nose only grudgingly reveals subtle spice nuances on the dark berry fruit aromas that are trimmed in a more moderate application of wood. There is excellent size, weight and power to the broad-shouldered flavors that exude a fine minerality on the impressively long and very firmly structured finish. This is very Malconsorts in basic character as there is plenty of muscle." (04/2014) 92-94 points Wine Advocate: "The 2012 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Malconsorts is much more expressive and captivating...

93-95 points Jasper Morris: "A glowing brisk crimson colour. The bouquet is where it belongs, at the heart of Vosne-Romanée. Still needs a little teasing out though. Good energy at the front of the palate, a useful thread of acidity, the oak lends a light char, then the fruit returns to sweep through to the finish. The acidity is just right, tannins are refined. Fresh crunchy red berry fruit to finish. Drink from 2029-2036." (11/2022) 95 points James Suckling: "At once dark and perfumed this Romanee-Saint-Vivant is still very young, but the wine has te...

96 points Decanter: "The wine shows a pronounced aroma of ripe black cherry and floral notes the winemaker describes as peony, mingled with notes of mineral, spice and smoke. Initially somewhat reserved on the palate, the texture is silky and with time reveals substantial but fine-grained tannins, good freshness and impressive length. Bichot owns two parcels of Malconsorts that total 1.75ha at the southern extremity of the lieu-dit bordering Nuits. Picking began on the 31st August, right after the first small shower that refreshed the vines. (CC)" (11/20...

Burghound: "Once again there is just enough wood to notice surrounding the ripe and nicely spicy aromas of black cherry, poached plum and exotic tea scented nose. There is fine richness to the concentrated, mouth coating and powerful middle weight plus flavors that conclude in a robust, even slightly butch, and rustic finale. Patience absolutely advised." The Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret, renamed since 1945, now operates a large vineyard in the purest of the Burgundy tradition. The property today accounts for approximately 30 hectares, spread on 35 different appellations producing white Burgundy issued from Chardonnay, but essentially red wines issued for Pinot Noir in the best climates of the Côte d'Or. In the words of Robert Parker, “The style of winemaking seems to extract rich, supple, concentrated fruit from the grapes...The wines always seem to show well young, but age nicely for 10-15 years.”

92-94 points Vinous: "The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Clos des Réas 1er Cru, the monopole belonging to Michel Gros, has a fragrant bouquet with sensual wild strawberry and raspberry notes, orange blossom and crushed rock. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, lovely balance, very stylish with a lot of panache towards the finish. This might be one of the most nuanced and desirable Clos des Réas that I have encountered from this address. Bravo. (NM)" (01/2023) 90-93 points Burghound: "Note: a 2.12 ha monopole with vines averaging 40+ years of age Reducti...

95 points James Suckling: "Fragrant and refined with a delicate earthiness underlining the sour cherry fruit, this has excellent concentration and very fine tannins that drive the long graceful finish. Already delicious, but with an excellent future ahead of it. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. (SP)" (07/2023) 92-94 points Vinous: "The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru is quite backward on the nose, maybe just missing a little joie-de-vivre at the moment, a bit "sulky" compared to other crus from the Domaine. 2021 Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat Richebourg Grand Cru
Top Pick!
96-98 points John Gilman: "The 2021 Richebourg from Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat is quite black fruity in personality this year, but another superb wine in the making. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a youthful blend of black cherries, black plums, raw cocoa, gamebird, dark soil tones, a touch of fresh herbs, bonfire and cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with fine transparency and grip, ripe, buried tannins and a long, focused and complex finish of lovely balance and soil signature." 94 points Decanter: "The Vosne Les Chaumes from Méo opens a bit slowly, but eventually it shows a lovely, expressive blackberry fruit with mineral and floral notes. The texture is substantial—firm and tannic with fresh acidity and a lengthy finish. The grapes come from two parcels that total just over two hectares, located just below Malconsorts. The vines are very mature and produce small clusters of concentrated, tannic fruit that Méo is not afraid to punch down and age with 50% new casks in order to deliver this muscular, dense wine. 88-91 points Burghound: "Note: from 3 different parcels in Aux Réas, La Colombière and Au-Dessus de la Rivière This is also quite firmly reduced and unreadable in its present condition. More interesting are the slightly richer and more refined medium weight flavors that possess a lovely underlying tension as well as a seductive texture, all wrapped in a lingering and moderately austere finale. This could use more depth, but the necessary material appears to be present for that to occur." (01/2023) Vinous: "The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Village has a tightly-k...

92-94 points Wine Advocate: "Alluring scents of ripe purple plum, black currant, clove, and star anise mark Jadot’s 2005 Vosne-Romanee Beaux Monts. Smoked and roasted meat flavors ally themselves to dark fruits and exotic spices on the palate, with subtle hints of caramel and vanilla from the oak accenting rather than intruding. This displays a warmer, more obviously rich and opulent character than many young 2005 Vosnes and than nearly any other 2005s from Jadot. Deep, fat folds of fruit persist with spices and low-toned roasted meat into an imposingly ...

89-92 points Jasper Morris: "A vibrant mid purple. Some intensity of fruit but not much detail. For this wine the pepper is evident right at the start. Rather dense, rather backward, curious to know if this is a full snapshot of the wine or just a stage. The tannins are more pronounced behind. " (11/2022) 89-91 points Wine Advocate: "The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Village offer up aromas of plums, sweet red berries, orange zest and smoked tea, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and fleshy palate with good depth at the core and powdery structuring tan...

94 points Tim Atkin: "These vines sit in lots of small, rounded stones that have worked down from the upper valley, and they face almost directly south. Spice, cocoa and toast join black cherries to saturate the palate and finish. Stylish and very Vosne, this drinks more like a Premier Cru." (01/2023) 90-92 points Burghound: "A wonderfully fragrant and even spicier nose offers up its array of jasmine tea, rose petal, violet and mix of red and dark cherry scents. The velvet textured and highly seductive medium weight flavors that are not super-dense y...

90-92 points Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts was picked on 30 September, matured in 40% new oak with 35% whole bunch. It has a sophisticated bouquet with cranberry and raspberry fruit, wilted violets and blood orange, gaining more and more refinement with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, saturated tannin, a crisp bead of acidity and then it clams up toward the peppery finish. It will requite four or five years in bottle but it should turn out to be a fine, if not top tier, Malconsorts. (NM)" (12/2017) K&L ...

97 points John Gilman: "The 2021 Romanée-St.-Vivant from Monsieur van Canneyt is simply stunning. The wine delivers a perfumed aromatic constellation of red and black raspberries, a touch of red plum, Vosne spices, a gorgeous base of soil, duck, woodsmoke and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is precise, full-bodied and reserved in personality today (this and the Richebourg were racked one week prior to my visit), with a beautiful core of fruit, lovely mineral undertow, suave, buried tannins and a long, complex and seamlessly balanced finish. Great win...

91-93 points Burghound: "Note: 35+ year old vines that abut the A.-F. Gros Richebourg parcel in Veroilles A restrained but perfumed and even spicier nose reflects notes of sandalwood, anise, exotic tea and pretty floral nuances on the mostly red and dark raspberry scents that are also trimmed is discreet wood. The sleek and almost painfully intense middleweight flavors coat the palate with dry extract while exhibiting impressive power on the balanced, long and more complex finale. At least some patience would be beneficial. *Burghound Outstanding!*" (01/...

89-92 points Burghound: "Note: from Les Chalandins, Quartiers de Nuits, Les Violettes and Basses Maizières An overtly spicy nose mixes aromas of red and dark currant, exotic tea, anise and a pretty violet top note. Here too there is fine mid-palate volume to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess very good density while delivering excellent length on the balanced finale. This could use better depth, but a few years of bottle aging should prove beneficial. *Outstanding, Top Value*" (01/2023) 90-92 points Jasper Morris: "Glowing purple, racy, f...

93-96 points Jasper Morris: "Very dense vibrant purple. Spending time on the nose, which shows some class, but it is the power, which kicks in, the sort of lively cherries, which can come with whole bunch. Really fine sensual finish, very long too. Shows the value of this terroir." (10/2020) 92-94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru was harvested on different days, as Bichot owns sites on varied soil profiles within the vineyard. Initially closed, it opens nicely to offer dark cherries, bergamot and tea leaf notes. The palate...

92-95 points Jasper Morris: ""Three barrels. Not especially deep in colour, but beautifully perfumed, the terroir standing taller than the vintage. This wine also shows some of the peppery aspects of the vintage, yet surrounded by a beautiful dark raspberry fruit which augurs extremely well. Drink from 2027-2034" (11/2022) 94 points Decanter: "The Beaumonts from Hudelot-Noellat has ripened well despite the vintage and the location, showing a lovely plummy fruit with rose petal notes on the nose and a supple texture with silky tannins that are firm but ...

91-93 points Wine Advocate: "Aromas of raspberries, berries, spices and creamy new oak introduce the 2018 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots (Maison Louis Jadot), a medium to full-bodied, broad and supple wine that's fleshy but nicely defined, concluding with a lively finish. This, too, should offer a broad drinking window. (WK)" (01/2020) 91-93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has a generous, ebullient bouquet of dark cherries, violets and iodine aromas that possess real intensity. Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2004 Nicolas Potel Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Gaudichots" (90BH, 90ST). Burghound: "This mature and overtly spicy effort displayed virtually none of the herbal character that many 2004s did after they were first bottled, in fact to the contrary the nose is really quite pretty. There is good richness to the detailed and stony middle weight flavors that display the barest hint of rusticity on the delicious and dusty finish. This was served blind and I guessed a 1er from the Vosne section of Nuits St. Georges so that suggests the '04 Gaudichots is showing its underlying terroir reasonably well. Note that for my taste this is drinking well now and there is no particular reason to refrain from drinking it if you are in the mood!" (01/2015)

Bid on this bottle of 1999 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Cuvée Duvault-Blochet" (93VN, 92BH, 90ST). Vinous: "The 1999 Vosne-Romané 1er Cru Duvault-Blochet, the debut release in the modern era, was beginning to show some signs of bricking on the rim. The bouquet is a treat: decayed red berry fruit, sage and peppermint, just a soupçon of wild fennel all at the liminal point as primary tips into secondary aromas. The palate is soft and mellow on the entry with a subtle meaty/dried blood quality, fine tannin and well judged acidity that keeps this linear and focused. There is just a pinch of spice on the finish that strangely brought to mind more Chambolle than Vosne-Romanée, not that I am complaining. Tasted at the 1999 DRC dinner. (NM)" (04/2018)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Nicolas Potel Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Aux Malconsorts". Int'l Wine Cellar: "Good full red. Spices, minerals and an exotic whiff of peach pit on the nose; showed more dark fruits as it opened in the glass. Supple and juicy, with good spice and mineral lift to the red berry flavors. Offers a restrained sweetness and moderate flesh, in the style of the year. This builds nicely toward the back, finishing with fine tannins and fresh acids." (03/2007)
Starting Bid: $190.00

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2002 Maison Champy Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Beaux Monts". Jancis Robinson: "Mid ruby. Very slight metallic note but great concentration and focus. A fair amount of tannin is bolstering the fruit in this wine. At the moment the finish is a tad dry but there is vigour here. It is perhaps just a little too young?" (11/2018)
Starting Bid: $105.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine Bertagna Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru "Les Beaux Monts" ((89-91BH)). Burghound: "Spicy, pure and nicely elegant red and black berry fruit aromas that lead to supple, pretty and precise flavors that are not particularly dense but they're sweet and wrapped in a linear, classy and finely detailed finish. This too is quite lovely fashioned in an understated style." (01/2006)
Starting Bid: $540.00

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Domaine Anne Gros Richebourg Grand Cru (92ST, 90JG). Int'l Wine Cellar: "Good medium red. Deep, sappy aromas of black cherry, minerals and smoked meat. Silky and thick on entry, then rich and vibrant in the middle palate, with no impression of excess weight. Finishes very long, with unusually silky tannins for the year. These 2004s are approachable from the start, although I would wait on this one. (ST)" (03/2007)
Starting Bid: $565.00

93-95 points Vinous: "The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru, which is completely de-stemmed, has a very intense, almost heady bouquet with layers of black cherry and cassis fruit; a dash of black pepper emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, and very powerful for this vineyard, but it manages to maintain balance. The finish offers great length and satisfying freshness to counterbalance the fruit intensity. This might well be the pick of Prieur’s reds this year. 92-94 points Burghound: "A slightly fresher nose also reflects a mentholated top note on the wonderfully spicy aromas of sandalwood and dark berry liqueur. The caressing, velvety and highly seductive flavors are rich to the point of opulent while exhibiting firm tannins on the dusty and sappy finale. This is clearly built to reward extended cellaring yet it's not so imposing that it couldn't be approached after 5 or so years." Bid on this bottle of 1995 Domaine Leroy Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Beaux Monts" ((93-96RP), 92BH, 92JG, 92WS). Wine Advocate: "Mme. Leroy's top Vosne Premier Cru offering, the dark-colored Vosne-Romanee Les Beaux Monts (350 cases) exhibits invitingly spicy, deep red and black fruit aromas. The flavors are packed with fat, ripe cherries, and touches of earth and cinnamon. Full-bodied, velvety textured, incredibly long and stunningly elegant. (PR)" (06/1997)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2017 Louis Latour Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Chaumes". Praise for Louis Latour's 2017 vintage from William Kelley in Wine Advocate: "...I am especially pleased to report that this tasting of Maison Louis Latour's 2017s was a decidedly positive experience. In the last few years, longer cuvaisons mean that the reds have taken on more depth and dimension, and while—as is natural—not all cuvées are created equal, this venerable address is now turning out some of the most interesting reds it has produced in years." Bid on this bottle of 1970 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Conti Grand Cru (93BH). Burghound: "(Methuselem) I was shocked at how much better this was than the same wine in magnum format (see herein) as it was not only remarkably youthful but possessed terrific mid-palate fat and density with the classic restrained spiciness and dried rose petal nose and striking length as well as the sheer RC class. A stunning effort for the vintage and this dwarfs the 750 ml and magnum format quality at this point in the wine's evolution." (03/2008)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Anne Gros Vosne-Romanée "Les Barreaux" (94WE, 91BH, 91ST, 90RP). Wine Enthusiast: "With its wonderful, heady aromas of red fruits and sweet jelly, this is already a delicious wine before the first sip. Then the exuberant fruits kick in with flavors of red berries, strawberries and sweet plums. As a balance, there is firm structure, minerality and fine finishing acidity. (RV)" (12/2008)
