2010 Maison Roche de Bellene Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Beaux Monts"
New!
91-94 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Medicinal red fruits and a hint of menthol on the nose. Sweet, dense and sappy on the palate, with urgent, soil-driven flavors of raspberry, pepper, spices and minerals. Finishes long and perfumed, with black fruit and crushed stone flavors that easily outlast the wine's tannins. Impressive potential. (ST)" (01/2012) 90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "As uneven as the Gevrey 1ers are, their Vosne and Nuits counterparts are models of consistency. Here the cool, airy and restrained nose disp...

93-95 points Vinous: "The 2017 Echézeaux Grand Cru, matured in 100% new oak, has a very perfumed and floral bouquet of shimmering black cherry and cassis fruit infused with iris and peony. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, beautifully pitched acidity and a silky-smooth, precise finish. One of the best Echézeaux that I have found in barrel this vintage. (NM)" (01/2019) 92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An admirably pure, elegant and airy nose reflects notes of essence of red currant, rose petal and discreet spice nuances ...

92 points Decanter: "This blend of grapes from a series of village-level parcels is by far the largest production at Grivot and it is just what you would want from a Vosne-Romanée. Lieux-dits include Aux Champs Perdrix at the top of the slope, Aux Réas, as well as others further down from the premiers crus. The blend delivers very expressive red berry fruit, firmly grippy tannins and a velvety texture on the palate that is a delight. Drinking Window 2024 - 2039. (CC)" (10/2020) 89-91 points Vinous: "The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village was quite closed at fi...

93-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An elegant mix of upper and medium register aromas centers mostly on the red side of the fruit spectrum along with hints of exotic tea, spice and pretty floral elements along with a hint of menthol. There is lovely detail and underlying tension to the moderately powerful medium-bodied flavors that possess plenty of punch on the dusty and youthfully austere finish that exhibits first-rate length. This beautifully balanced effort is a lovely combination of power and refinement and a wine that will also need extended...

95 points Wine Spectator: "Though pure and supple in texture, the flavors evoke black cherry, blackberry, violet, iron and spice. This is both dense and vibrant, finishing with a lighter, more elegant presence on the palate. Delivers terrific balance and length. (BS)" (05/2022) 90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is also reduced but the fruit definitely seems ripe. More interesting are the energetic, detailed and solidly concentrated middle weight flavors that conclude in an equally powerful and lingering finish where a trace of warmth slowly...

90-92 points Vinous: "The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru clearly has more clarity on the nose compared directly with the Village Cru, offering raspberry coulis, freshly picked strawberry and a touch of rose petal. The palate is well defined with a fine bead of acidity, and lightly spiced with white pepper that complements the raspberry and blackberry fruit. Moderate length. This is a very decent Les Chaumes. (NM)" (12/2020) Jancis Robinson: "East-facing site at 250 m. Brief pre-ferment cold maceration. 15–18 months in barrel, 30% new. Cask samp...

90-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Coulis-like aromas of plum, wild black cherry, Asian-style tea and sandalwood give way to rich, even opulent, flavors that retain ample punch on the surprisingly powerful, concentrated and impressively long if youthfully austere finish. This too is an excellent villages and well-worth your interest. *Burghound Outstanding Top Value!*" (01/2022) 88-90 points Vinous: "The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Village is a blend of two lieux-dits, La Violette with 40% whole bunch and Quartier de Nuits with nary a stem. It has fine de...

95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "(from vines planted in 1922). A restrained but still wonderfully spicy nose consists of ripe aromas of poached plum, violet, lavender and black cherry liqueur. The middle weight flavors possess a highly refined mouthfeel with a silky mid-palate yet the hugely long and slightly warm finish is borderline chewy. There is no doubting the quality of the underlying material and the length here is genuinely superb but it would be fair to observe that this is a very robust RSV. Patience will be required. 2030+" (01/2018) K...

Jancis Robinson: "Mid cherry red. Deep aroma of pure dark-red fruit and subtle oak spice. Open and inviting. Firm, smooth tannins. Generous, sweet fruit balanced by lively acidity, the alcohol well hidden. Good length. (JH)" (11/2020) Vinous: "The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village comes from all the domaine’s parcels except for La Colombière. This has a fragrant bouquet of rose-petal-tinged dark berry fruit. The 40% new oak is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, a little simplistic compared to some of the top performing Vosne-R...

94 points Wine Spectator: "A suave red, with black cherry and black currant flavors framed in spicy, toasty new oak. Dense and persistent, yet it overall reveals a sense of elegance and refinement, which should become more evident with time. Offers excellent length, with a mineral underpinning. Best from 2025 through 2042." (05/2022) 90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " More discreet wood influence is present on the slightly less ripe but spicier and more floral nose displays fresh fruit that derives more from the red side of the fruit spectrum. T...

89-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too is sufficiently reduced to render the nose impossible to read. There is a bit more flesh to the delicious and perfumed medium weight flavors that also flash plenty of minerality on the saliva-inducing finish that is just a bit firmer. This lovely effort is very Vosne. *Outstanding!*" (01/2021) K&L Notes: 91-94 points Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "This silty, flinty and stony vineyard which benefits from a cool air flow was planted in 1928. Medium crimson, dense ripe red fruit on the cusp between raspb...

89-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A deft dollop of wood is present on the very spicy nose of red and dark currant laced with exotic tea nuances. The sleek, intense and delicious medium weight flavors are unusually refined for Hautes Maizières, in fact the mid-palate mouthfeel is almost delicate, that contrasts somewhat with the complex, powerful and lingering finish. This is an excellent Vosne villages. *Outstanding, Top Value!*" (01/2021) K&L Notes: 91-93 points Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Bruno mentions in passing that the topsoil has beco...

89-91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A more restrained and notably cooler nose shyly reflects notes of herbal tea, essence of red cherry, spice and a hint of rose petal. There is evident minerality to the delicate, lacy and energetic barely medium weight flavors that terminate in a mildly austere and sneaky long finale. This chiseled and linear effort is lovely and also quite understated. *Outstanding!*" (01/2021) K&L Notes: 91-94 points Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "There is a top section which Bruno replanted in 2015 and a middle section which ...

93-95 points Vinous: "The 2017 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from 0.30 hectares of vine. It has a tightly wound bouquet at first – one of the few crus from Lamarche to demand coaxing from the glass. It eventually reveals some lovely raspberry preserve, wild strawberry and subtle Seville orange marmalade scents, all very well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, and more structure and backbone than the Echézeaux, leading to a fresh and quite saline finish. This will need five or six years in bottle, but there is very good potential he...

95 points Decanter: "Les Beaux Monts is situated next to Aux Brûlées but makes a very different style of wine in the Grivots' hands. This is chalky, racy and energetic, with subtle reduction, fine-grained tannins and a finish that lingers on the tongue. (TA)" (10/2018) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2017 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts is also showing very well, offering up aromas of sweet Asian spices, rose petal, plums, cassis and dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with good depth and dimension, ...

96 points Vinous: "The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Les Malconsorts 1er Cru seems to have been born to embarrass my rather tepid reaction to this wine from barrel. Wow! This has me smitten. It offers a very floral, seductive bouquet with pressed violet petals liberally scattered over the black cherry and wild strawberry fruit, and just a hint of vanilla in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannin. This is very cohesive, harmonious and silky-smooth in texture, with a light touch of blood orange and brown spices that impart complexity on ...

95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Interestingly, this is actually quite similar to the nose of the Grands Ech but it's arguably even spicier and quite cool in the context of the 2018 vintage along with a top note of menthol. The pliant medium-bodied flavors possess a decidedly sleek mouthfeel though the tension really builds from the mid-palate to the firm, dusty and very serious finish that offers outstanding length. Patience strongly advised as this is definitely resolutely structured. In a word, excellent." (01/2021) 95 points Decanter: "Nicole ...

A rich, aromatic Vosne-Romanée from the 1er Cru En Orveaux. This backs up to the Grand Cru Échézeaux and sits directly above the best portion of Clos Vougeot. One for the cellar if you can resist.
Price: $324.99

90-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Subtle but not imperceptible wood influence is present on the exuberantly spicy and floral-scented nose of plum and red currant. The nicely rich and attractively textured medium weight flavors possess a bracing salinity that is almost citrusy in character while displaying finale length on the balanced finale. This too is going to need extended patience to resolve the firm core of supporting tannins." (01/2021) K&L Notes: 92-96 points Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "A mix of flinty limestone and the cryoplastic s...

91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A riper and even spicier nose reflects notes of cinnamon, anise, sandalwood, violet and essence of plum. There is impressive volume to the succulent yet powerful and punchy flavors that brim with both minerality and sappy dry extract before concluding in an austere, compact and very serious finale. This is a big VRBM that is clearly built to age over the longer-term. *Sweet Spot, Outstanding!*" (01/2021) K&L Notes: 93-96 points Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "This is grown high up on the Flagey side of the viney...

89-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A similar if slightly more elegant nose leads to delicious and equally vibrant flavors that are also on the lighter side whole offering a lovely sense of verve and refinement on the super-saline-suffused finish." (01/2022) 90-92 points Vinous: "The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru has a light bouquet, airy red berry fruit, touches of cedar and animal fur in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, elegant and silky in texture. Perhaps it needs a little more grip on the finish, though ...

95 points Decanter: "Méo owns two plots of Chaumes, totalling just over 2ha at the foot of the slope below Malconsorts. One was planted in the 1950s, the other in the 1970s, and the result is a powerful wine with pronounced aromas of ripe dark cherries, liquorice and a hint of smoke. The winemaking is not shy - punched down frequently and aged in 50% new oak casks - and this is decidedly tannic, and full-bodied, yet its approachable, highly drinkable nature makes it an absolute delight. Drinking Window 2024 - 2049. (CC)" (10/2020) 92-94 points Robert P...

92-95 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A more elegant and more floral-suffused if decidedly restrained nose requires some aggressive swirling to gradually reveal its aromas of cool essence of red cherry, Asian-style tea and hints of soy and hoisin. The lilting but almost painfully intense middle weight flavors also possess excellent length on the compact, exceptionally firm and strikingly long finale. I would point out that it is entirely possible that someone trying this might find it on the lighter side in terms of what is typical for Grands Ech, yet...

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A very reserved nose speaks primarily of plum liqueur and warm earth aromas that are very much in keeping with the intense, powerful and firmly structured medium weight plus flavors that possess a velvety and mouth coating finish that delivers outstanding length. This understated and decidedly old school effort possesses fine balance and there is enough underlying material to suggest that this should offer 15 to 18 years of upside development potential." (01/2013)
Price: $259.99

91-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Ripe and nicely fresh aromas of plum, dark currant, red cherry, anise and jasmine tea give way to succulent, round and delicious medium-bodied flavors that also possess a beguiling texture while displaying excellent depth and persistence on the youthfully austere and well-balanced finish. " (01/2022) 92-94 points Vinous: "The 2020 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a well-defined nose with red berry fruit, blood orange and light rose petal scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and Lamarche’s trademark silky...

Bid on this bottle of 1995 Domaine Robert Arnoux Romanée St. Vivant Grand Cru . According to Clive Coates: "Full colour. Still very youthful. Quite rich and concentrated on the nose. Not too tannic. Good structure and good acidity. Firm on the nose. Some tannin. Fullish body. Not quite enough concentration and grip underneath at first. Better as it developed. It has very good elegant fruit ..." Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2004 Domaine Joseph (Véronique) Drouhin Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Petits Monts" (91WE, 90BH, 90JG, 90W&S). Wine Enthusiast: "Part of the Drouhin family domaine, this parcel of vines belongs to Véronique Drouhin. It's a powerful wine, but also complete. There is good density, richness, black fruits and finishing acidity. (RV)" (03/2007)
Starting Bid: $350.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Domaine Joseph (Veronique) Drouhin Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Petits Monts" (94JG, 92BH, 91ST). John Gilman: "The 2001 Petits Monts is a magical and profound bottle that will certainly be ranked amongst the finest four or five vintages of this wine to be produced between 1985 and 2005. The refined, complex and classic bouquet jumps from the glass in a mix of black raspberries, dark berries, striking soil tones, a touch of lead pencil, lovely, esthery notes of Vosne spice and an exotic topnote of mint leaf. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, young and tight, with laser-like focus, superb, nascent complexity, tangy acids and a very long, soil-driven and moderately tannic finish. A great wine in the making. " (05/2007)
Starting Bid: $370.00

Bid on this bottle of 2016 Domaine Bizot Vosne-Romanée "Jachées" (94RP, (89-92BH), 92VN). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Les Jachées is striking, bursting from the glass with aromas of violets, rose petals, peonies, Indian spices, red berries and orange rind, with deeper bass notes of raw cocoa and soil emerging as it sits in the glass. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and saline, with an ample core of fruit that largely cloaks its melting tannins and a long, resonant finish. Bizot notes that its floral and exotic bouquet—as well as its relative lack of color—is very typical of the site. (WK)" (01/2019)

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2015 Domaine d'Eugénie Vosne-Romanée (90VN). Vinous: "Rather open-knit aromas of strawberry, raspberry and spices. Supple, seamless and sweet, boasting excellent fruit intensity; a very ripe style but with good inner-mouth spicy lift and length. Nothing fat or sloppy about this very satisfying village wine. (ST)" (01/2018)
Starting Bid: $191.60

Bid on this 3-bottle lot of 2010 Domaine Louis Jadot Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Beaux Monts" ((91-94BH), 93JG, (91-93ST), (90-92RP), (89-92WS)). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is also notably ripe with a pungent and highly expressive nose of cassis, menthol and wood toast where additional breadth is present in the form of wet stone and spices. The detailed and highly energetic middle weight flavors possess excellent definition and seem built on a base of firm minerality while terminating in a tension-filled, harmonious and highly persistent finish. Textbook Beaux Monts. *Outstanding*" (12/2011)

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2005 Domaine Robert Arnoux Vosne-Romanée "Les Hautes Maizières" ((89-91VN)). Vinous: "Good deep red. Aromas of cassis, violet and bitter chocolate. Denser and fleshier than the regular village bottling, but with distinct similarities in shape and style. Ripe acids intensify the dark berry and spice flavors. (ST)" (03/2007)
Starting Bid: $236.00

Bid on this bottle of 2009 DRC Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Échézeaux Grand Cru (96VN, 94WS). Vinous: "The 2009 Grands Échézeaux Grand Cru is not going to win any awards for nuance, but it is explosive, hedonistically satisfying and just tremendously delicious. After all, the first thing a wine should do is deliver pleasure. The 2009 GE certainly does that. Wow. (AG)" (11/2019)
Starting Bid: $2,550.00

Bid on this bottle of 2017 Domaine Sylvain Cathiard Vosne Romanee ((89-91BH), 91RP, (88-90VN)). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Cathiard's 2017 Vosne-Romanée is showing brilliantly from bottle, wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet berry fruit, warm spices, woodsmoke, musk and rich soil tones. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, with lively acids, excellent depth at the core and a long, exotically perfumed finish. (WK)" (01/2020)
Starting Bid: $210.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2014 Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanée (90BH, 90RP, 90VN, 90WS). Vinous: "Livelier on the nose than the Charmois, with scents of black cherry, graphite and dark chocolate lifted by a floral quality. At once sweet and savory on the palate, with lovely acidity framing the red berry and cherry fruit flavors and extending the finish. Suaver and more pliant than the Charmois but the wine's more serious tannins and an element of peppery lift on the back end call for at least a couple years of patience. (ST)" (03/2017)
Starting Bid: $140.00

Bid on this bottle of 1998 Domaine Leroy Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Beaux Monts" (95RP, 90BH). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "No, not the cheapest wine on the planet, but probably worth it. This 1998 Vosne Romanee les Beaux-Monts has a fabulous bouquet with wonderful delineation, hints of bay leaf and rose-petals infusing the mulberry and wild strawberry fruit, developing a fabulous ferrous note with aeration. The palate is fresh and wonderfully poised, the acidity perfectly judged, utterly harmonious with a cashmere texture from start to finish. There is a slight hickory note developing and enhancing the finish that is amazingly detailed, concluding what must be one of the most divine 1998 Côte de Nuits wines at the moment. (NM)" (10/2014)
Starting Bid: $2,120.00

Price: $1,250.00

Bid on this bottle of 2004 Domaine Robert Arnoux Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru (93BH, 93ST). Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This displays a similar kaleidoscopic nose to that of the Suchots but with even more spice and hard as it is to believe, even more refinement and the aromas just ooze class. The ultra pure, sweet, precise and beautifully detailed flavors maintain their focus from start to the dazzlingly long and palate staining linear finish that also displays a subtle herbal component." (01/2007)
Starting Bid: $425.00

Bid on this 4-bottle lot of 2005 Nicolas Potel Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Petits Monts" ((88-92BH), (91-92RP), 92ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A 2005 Vosne Romanee Les Petits Monts (assembled in tank when I tasted) offers high-toned black fruit essences, distilled plum, smoke, floral and spice aromas. Tasting of spiced blackberries and prune, it evinces fungal and mossy, forest floor inner-mouth aromas as it reacts to the air. Rich and palate saturating, it comes up a bit disappointing in its finish, but certainly only on account of its recent racking and sulfuring. There will be a (by Potel’s standards) whopping 225 cases of this. It’s worth pointing out that this vineyard above Richebourg and between Reignots and Cros Parantoux (like several of those from Vosne’s highest altitudes) was not even marked on the vineyard maps of most reference books until the past decade. (DS) 91-92+" (06/2007)
Starting Bid: $380.00

Bid on this bottle of 2007 DRC Domaine de la Romanée Conti Echézeaux Grand Cru (94JS, 92JG, 91BH, 91DC, 91WS, 90RP, 90ST). James Suckling: "A pale and lilting wine in the glass that has a very complex and foresty edge, very brooding and deep, rich and elusive; there's a hint of musky pink fruit fragrance that will build with time, some cinnamon, earth, gently decaying leaves and an underlying creamy oak layer. The palate has bright acidity, finely webbed tannins that wrap and hold soft, supple, fleshy red cherry fruit flavours, long and assertive, powerful and balanced. (NS)" (10/2012)

Bid on this bottle of 1999 Domaine Leroy Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Beaux Monts" (95DC, (91-94ST), 93RP, 93WS, 92BH). Decanter: "Fine colour. Firm nose, still closed. Rich and profound. Full bodied, rich and oaky on the palate. Lots of energy and grip. Lots of depth. Very lovely. Very high class. Will still improve. (CC)" (06/2015)
