Randle Johnson graduated from UC Davis and made wine for more than 35 years, working at wineries including Château Souverain, Mayacamas, Stags' Leap, Artezin and currently Hess Collection. He and his wife launched Calafia, a small label devoted to making wines from special sites in Northern California. The Verdelho comes from a small vineyard near Loomis in the Sierra foothills.
