2007 d'Yquem, Sauternes
Top Pick!
98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pale to medium gold colored, the 2007 d'Yquem delivers powerful scents of tropical fruits—dried mangoes and pineapple paste—accented by acacia honey, toasted almonds and woodsmoke with hints of chalk dust, kettle corn and lime blossom. The palate reveals one of those vintages that shape-shifts into an apparently drier style than it is, largely thanks to its uber-racy backbone of freshness and layered mineral-inspired flavors, finishing with a regal, satin-textured savoriness. Difficult to resist now, this will be...

97 points Decanter: "Average temperatures 2.7°C over average, combined with 20% of the normal rainfall from mid August to the end of July made makes this a naturally rich, low-yielding vintage (40% less than average, not helped by a hail storm in July), with a gloriously gourmet 145g/ha residual sugar, and a pH level of 3.95. As ever with Yquem, patience was the key, taking in the grapes slowly but surely over 17 days harvest that extended well into October. The results in the glass are intense and glossy, full of satin-textured apricot and white peach f...

90 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Highly aromatic but youthfully subdued aromas of peach blossom, fresh pineapple, minerals and spicy oak; offers lovely lift and purity. Smooth, thick and spicy, with lively acidity giving it a light touch. Fruit salad flavors complicated by notes of spice, vanilla and grilled nuts. Finishes suave and long. A very elegantly styled wine with the structure to evolve slowly. (ST) 90+" (07/2002) K&L Notes: Château Coutet is one of the oldest Sauternes-producing vineyards in France, located between the G...

96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind in Bordeaux, the 1976 Chateau d'Yquem reaffirms its reputation as one of the great wines of the decade, although I would suggest that that 1971 and 1975 are the true pinnacles. However, in no way do I wish to slight this Sauternes. Deep and slightly burnished in color, it offers dried pineapple, barley sugar, almond and a cheeky puff of café latte. There is wonderful definition here. The palate is underpinned by nigh on perfect acidity with orange rind, mango, crème brûlée and minerals. As it fans ou...

91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of limes and cream with a hint of dried pineapple follow through to a full-bodied palate with lively acidity and a long, fresh finish. A couple years' bottle age will improve this. " (09/2004) 91 points Wine Spectator: "Possibly the finest effort I have ever tasted from this estate, Bastor Lamontagne’s light gold-colored 2001 is a tropical fruit cocktail offering abundant quantities of apricot, lychee, honeysuckle, and other tropical fruit characteristics with little evidence of oak. Excellent acidity, w...

97 points Wine Enthusiast: "Powered by dry botrytis, this is a wine with immense potential. It has weight, complexity and richness, all under the cloak of botrytis. To leaven the power, there is acidity, but this is certainly for aging. *Cellar Selection* (RV)" (06/2010) 95 points Wine Spectator: "Dried lemon and floral aromas lead to loads of botrytis spice and bitter lemon peel in this young, full-bodied sweetie, with hints of lively lime and honey. Medium sweet. Very intense. (JS)" (03/2010) 92-95 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:...

2009 Rieussec, Sauternes
Back In Stock!
98 points James Suckling: "Lots of caramel and Seville orange. Apricots, vanilla and sultanas. Intensely sweet on the palate with a deep texture and and good complexity. This Sauternes is wonderfully long and dense with superb purity and precision. Extravagant sweet wine. Drinks amazingly well already now, so why wait?" (05/2013) 98 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Pale to medium gold colored, the 2009 Rieussec sings of crème caramel, chopped nuts, baked apples and spiced pears with hints of jasmine, peach blossoms and beeswax. Full-bodied, rich ...

1988 d'Yquem, Sauternes
Back In Stock!
96 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1988 Chateau d'Yquem has long been an insider's favorite over the 1989 and 1990, although at the end of the day, all three form a brilliant triumvirate at the end of the decade. Tasted from a half bottle, it shone with a slightly burnished amber hue. The bouquet is just as I have encountered with previous bottles with scents of marmalade, mandarin, burnt honey and citrus fruit, perhaps a little waxier and resinous than I recall. The palate is medium-bodied with impressive weight, viscous as you would expect, ...

96 points Decanter: "On clay over limestone soils, relatively cool compared to Sauternes, this has a purity and freshness that is striking and moreish. Full of the quince, candied orange, truffle, apricot and lemon curd that you hope for in a quality sweet Bordeaux, coupled with lime blossom, ginger and citrus zest adding poise and character. (JA)" (10/2020) 96 points James Suckling: "A triumph for the vintage with spices, dried mushroom, dried pineapple, peaches, and honey. Full and sweet with bright acidity and a long, intense finish. Powerful wine. ...

2010 Rieussec, Sauternes
Back In Stock!
95-96 points James Suckling: "I love the botrytis spice character to this wine with dried apricots and tropical fruits. It's full bodied, medium sweet with a long intense finish. It's very layered. Sweet wine of the vintage." (04/2011) 96 points Vinous: "The 2010 Rieussec is slightly more backwards on the nose. It is very focused with almond, saffron, orange pith and dried honey aromas that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a harmonious entry. Impressive depth with lovely vanillary new oak, it is long and pure towards the f...

92-94 points Vinous: "The 2020 Doisy-Védrines has an elegant bouquet, well defined and perhaps more poised than recent vintages from this Barsac estate. Dried honey, orange pith and light marmalade notes gradually unfurl in the glass, followed later by hints of candle wax and lemon verbena. The palate is well balanced with a lovely touch of orange zest that counterbalances the rich, honeyed fruit, and superb tension on the finish This is a wonderful Doisy-Védrines. 93-95 points Vinous: "The 2020 Guiraud is fabulous. Usually a more opulent wine, the 2020 impresses with its translucent personality. Orange confit, apricot preserves, chamomile and dried flowers all develop in the glass. I very much like the energy here. A classy, impressive wine. (AG)" (06/2021)

97-98 points James Suckling: "A Sauternes with tart tartine, cooked apple and caramel. It’s full-bodied, juicy and sweet, yet there’s lots of caramel and spice, too, such as cloves. Comes across almost dry. But lots of sweetness. Pure semillon. Unique. Tiny production." (05/2021) 94-96 points Vinous: "The 2020 Suduiraut is 100% Sémillon this year, picked at 8.5hl/ha via four tries through the vineyard from September 16 all the way through to November 5. It has a ripe nose of dried honey, orange blossom and mango scents, plus touches of beeswax and almo...

92-94 points Vinous: "Aline Baly kindly furnished me with background information on the 2020 Coutet. "The first sorting occurred on September 16 and 17 to harvest the botrytis resulting from the thunderstorms of August 15," she told me. "The second and third passeage were organized quickly, as the climatic conditions were becoming unfavorable. The teams were ready to harvest within the hour, as soon as a weather window emerged. This second phase of harvest finally took place on September 23 before a thunderstorm that resulted in a cumulative rainfall of ...

95-97 points Vinous: "The 2020 Doisy-Daëne, pure Sémillon this year picked at 16hl/ha over three to six tries through the vineyard, presents a well-defined nose that, compared side-by-side with Doisy-Védrines, is actually quite similar in terms of the dried honey, honeysuckle, candle wax and quince aromas that unfurl from the glass. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine bead of acidity, and such purity on the finish that it endows this Barsac with wonderful weightlessness. Magnificent. (NM)" (05/2021) K&L Notes: 94-96 points Antonio Galloni in...

Bid on this bottle of 1990 d'Yquem, Sauternes (98RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Medium to deep golden colored, the 1990 d'Yquem opens with unabashed opulence, giving expressive notes of dried apricots, toffee, candied walnut, tree bark and sandalwood with nuances of preserved mandarin peel, lemongrass and fallen leaves. The palate is entering that stage where it still has bags of fruit and yet appears quite dry, with a lively line contributing jaw-dropping tension and finishing with epically long-lingering honey nut and earth-inspired notes. Pure. Hedonism. The multilayered intensity perhaps makes this appear a much bigger, sweeter Yquem than it is, and yet it possesses a relatively modest 12.7% alcohol and 126 grams per liter of residual sugar with 3.9 grams per liter of total acidity (H2SO4). Well into its ideal drinking window, there is no real rush to drink this beauty, as it should remain suspended at the heavenly plateau for another 25+ years. (LPB)" (08/2019)
Starting Bid: $387.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1990 Suduiraut, Sauternes (95WS, 92ST). Wine Spectator: "Botrytis bomb. Gold color. Loads of spicy, almond and toffee character with pineapple fruit. Full-bodied, very sweet and very, very ripe. Blistering long finish. A bit rustic, but amazing. Can age as long as you like. 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. (JS)" (08/2000)
Starting Bid: $180.00

Bid on this bottle of 1983 d'Yquem, Sauternes (94JG). John Gilman: "The 1983 vintage of Yquem is drinking beautifully and has reached a lovely, tertiary stage of its evolution that still retains the vibrancy of youth to go along with all of the additional layers of complexity that bottle age brings. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a refined blend of apricots, honey, barley sugar, chalky soil tones, new leather and a topnote of tea leaves. On the palate the wine is deep, long and focused, with superb depth at the core, lovely balance and a long, complex and still very zesty and energetic finish. A very tasty vintage of Yquem." (01/2018)
Starting Bid: $320.00

Bid on this bottle of 1976 d'Yquem, Sauternes (96RP). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted blind in Bordeaux, the 1976 Château d'Yquem reaffirms its reputation as one of the great wines of the decade, although I would suggest that that 1971 and 1975 are the true pinnacles. As it fans out towards the finish, there is a tang of Seville orange marmalade, and though it does not quite possess the persistence of the 1975 Yquem, you will be craving for the next sip. At its peak now, enjoy this great Yquem over the next 20-30 years. (NM)" (06/2016)
Starting Bid: $375.00

Bid on this bottle of 2001 d'Yquem, Sauternes (100JS, 100RP, 100WS). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "There are 10, 000 cases of this perfect sweet white Bordeaux. The 2001 Yquem reveals a hint of green in its light gold color. While somewhat reticent aromatically, with airing, it offers up honeyed tropical fruit, orange marmalade, pineapple, sweet creme brulee, and buttered nut-like scents. In the mouth, it is full-bodied with gorgeously refreshing acidity as well as massive concentration and unctuosity. Everything is uplifted and given laser-like focus by refreshing acidity. This large-scaled, youthful Yquem appears set to take its place among the most legendary vintages of the past, and will age effortlessly for 75+ years. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2100+. (RP)" (04/2005)
Starting Bid: $430.00

Bid on this bottle of 2007 Haut-Bergeron, Sauternes. Wine Spectator: "A rich style, showing dried apricot, glazed peach and maple notes, with a slightly soft texture. (JM) " (04/2011)
Starting Bid: $36.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 1989 Raymond Lafon, Sauternes (91RP, 90ST). Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 1989 exhibits aromas of honeyed pineapple/tropical fruit and toasty new oak, as well as an exotic, flashy perfume that is not as pronounced in either the 1990 or 1988. The 1989 exhibits less botrytis than the other two vintages. The wine possesses an opulent, full-bodied, exotic, lavishly rich personality, moderate sweetness, and huge quantity of extract, glycerin, and alcohol in its finish. The wine is also extremely young and unevolved. (RP)" (01/1998)
Starting Bid: $80.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2002 Rieussec, Sauternes (92ST, 92WS, 90RP). Wine Spectator: "Aromas of apple tart, cream and honey follow through to a full-bodied palate, with lots of sweetness and a dried pineapple, vanilla and honey aftertaste. Outstanding intensity. Best after 2008. (JS)" (07/2006)
Starting Bid: $210.00

Bid on this 6-bottle lot of 2003 Rieussec, Sauternes (97JS, (92-95ST), 95WS, (92-94RP)). James Suckling: "So rich and powerful with so much dried apricots and citrus aromas and flavors. Caramel and toffee. Full and very sweet. Amazing." (10/2016)
Starting Bid: $270.00

Bid on this 2-bottle lot of 2001 Rieussec, Sauternes (100JS, 100WS, 95VN). James Suckling: "This is a crazy wine! It’s sweet, but not sugary. Mushrooms, furniture wax, spices then dried oranges, lemons, pineapples, and just a hint of vanilla. Full-bodied, with great density and power, yet balanced and refined. So amazing, but give this five to six years still. Pull the cork in 2016. 145 grams RS." (05/2012)
