According to Oz Clarke's Bordeaux, Saint-Amand is "one of the few non-Classed Growth properties that manages to produce big, rich, classic Sauternes--and which doesn't charge the earth. The 22-ha (54-acre) estate is in the commune of Preignac--right next to the little river Ciron, whose autumn mists have so much to do with the formation of the noble rot fungus on their grapes... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "After a scorching summer, the 1990 de Fargues harvest began early (on September 18) and the fruit was picked over 4 tries until October 10 – the earliest harvest on record. It is the most powerful of the trilogy. Delivering 130 grams-per-liter residual sugar at 13.6% alcohol, it has a prodigious bouquet of over-ripe oranges, toffee apple, chlorophyll and even a faint hint of chocolate. The palate is medium-bodied with a luscious ripe mandarin and apricot-tinged entry, building wonderfully to a botrytis-laden finish that fans out like a firework, leaving traces of cumin and dried orange peel on the long finish. The 2001 Yquem reveals a hint of green in its light gold color. While somewhat reticent aromatically, with airing, it offers up honeyed tropical fruit, orange marmalade, pineapple, sweet creme brulee, and buttered nut-like scents. In the mouth, it is full-bodied with gorgeously refreshing acidity as well as massive concentration and unctuosity. Everything is uplifted and given laser-like focus by refreshing acidity. This large-scaled, youthful Yquem appears set to take its place among the most legendary vintages of the past, and will age effortlessly for 75+ years. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2100+. Bid on this bottle of 1966 Suduiraut, Sauternes (90RP, 90VN). Vinous: "The 1966 Suduiraut is probably unfairly overshadowed by the 1967, but they are well worth looking out for. There is a tang of swimming pool/algae on the nose that actually might deceive you into thinking of older Sauternes, but it is actually attractive and marries well with the tangy Seville orange marmalade and orange pith aromas. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, clean and focused with a welcome tang of stem ginger towards the vibrant finish. It is not an extrovert or preening Suduiraut and it 'knows its place.' 80gm/L residual sugar, 14.5% alcohol. (NM)" (03/2019)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Tasted in Sauternes with Charles Chevalier, the 1988 Rieussec is a vintage that Chevalier himself claimed to be his favorite. I can understand why. It has an unerringly youthful bouquet with vibrant citrus fruit, wild honey, mandarin and mineral scents, a bouquet that seems to have electricity flowing through it. The same can be said for the palate that is full of tension and vigor, almost clinical in terms of focus with alluring viscosity and wonderful length. This bowled me over with its charm and breeding.
