The small appellation of Marcillac sits on the eastern edge of the region we know as the Sud-Ouest. Marcillac's main grape is Mansois (aka Fer Servadou and/or Braucol) and it must make up 80% of all appellation wines. Claudine Vinas and her husband Eric took over her family's farm in the 90s and have slowly expanded their holdings. Their vines are planted in the mostly iron-rich red clay-limestone soils in which this variety thrives.
