While Domaine Sylvain Langoureau may not be a household name, we anticipate it will become the go-to producer for those who enjoy artfully crafted wines that combine a pronounced citrus element with crisp acidity and a touch of minerality. This family-run estate does everything by hand, is committed to low yields, and focuses on conveying each site's distinctive terroir. Producer notes from Allen Meadows for Burghound: "Sylvain Langoureau has been directing this 9 ha domaine since 1989 which he says is now farmed entirely organically." (06/2020)

2019 Domaine Bernard Moreau Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "La Maltroie" (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Back In Stock!
92-94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet La Maltroye 1er Cru has an expressive bouquet with Granny Smith apples, sliced pear, crushed rock and a touch of white peach. The palate is full of energy thanks to that silver bead of acidity. Very harmonious with just a hint of albumen towards the long and tender finish. Give this 2-3 years for that oak to fully assimilate. (NM)" (12/2020) 91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Revealing aromas of white flowers, crisp green apple, nutmeg and wheat toast, Moreau's 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er ...

95 points James Suckling: "A rich and powerful Chassagne-Montrachet with serious concentration and creaminess, but thanks to the acidity and the fine tannins this remains poised through the long and very sensual finish. " (07/2021) 92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche is also very promising, wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, mandarin orange, white flowers, warm bread and baking spices. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and concentrated, with a deep and layered core, lively ...

Château de la Charrière is one of our most popular direct import producers and a label that easily represents the best bang for your buck we carry in Burgundy. Formerly run by Yves Girardin, the business is now run by his young son Benoit, who modernized the winemaking a bit since his first vintage in 2011. Whereas the wines had been a bit funky and rustic, the past few vintages are much cleaner, showcasing the pureness of the Pinot Noir by de-stemming completely so as to remove excess tannic structure.

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "The imposing elevation is evident as this is noticeably cooler and airier with its aromas of citrus and mineral reduction inflected green apple. The sleek, intense and precise, indeed even chiseled, flavors terminate in a bone-dry, complex and moderately firm finale. This is less expansive than the Chenevottes but much finer so it's a qualitative choice between them. *Burghound Outstanding!*" (06/2021) K&L Notes: 92-94 points, Jasper Morris writes for Inside Burgundy: "From two plots, limestone high up, more clay i...

Bachelet-Ramonet is one of the suppliers to Etienne Sauzet, now that they are acting as a negociant. Since Alain Bonnefond took over, he has been gradually reducing yields, and the effect is being seen in the amount of concentration in the wines. He bulks out 1/2 of his production, keeping favorite barrels to release under the domaine label.

93 points James Suckling: "Very ripe pear aromas with a delicate touch of vanilla oak. The winemaker has worked successfully to conserve the fruit and freshness. So, although this has quite a rich texture on the mid-palate, the fine oak and lively acidity, plus a touch of mineral, make it satisfyingly lively at the finish. " (07/2021) 90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Hints of resin and rosemary oil are present on the ripe and fresh white fleshed fruit nose that is trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is slightly better volume to the delici...

2019 Domaine Bernard Moreau Chassagne Montrachet Rouge Vieilles Vignes (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Back In Stock!
91 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "A beautiful wine, Moreau's 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes bursts with aromas of rose petals, spices and sweet berry fruit. Medium-bodied, lively and perfumed, it's supple and melting, with succulent acids and a saline finish. (WK)" (01/2021) Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A ripe, fresh and relatively deeply pitched nose reveals notes of pepper and earth inflected dark berries and plum. The nicely rich and vibrant medium-bodied flavors possess a supple and round mid-palate while exhibiting good persisten...

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Green apple and Mirabelle flavors are cutting and pure on the palate of this richly textured, supple wine. While plush in body and undeniably ripe, it has an edge of lemony acidity alongside streaks of crystalline minerality. Voluptuous yet freshly composed, it's delightful young but should fare well through 2030. *Editors' Choice* (AI)" (12/2021) 94 points Wine & Spirits: "Philippe Colin farms a parcel of mostly 50-year-old vines within Les Chaumées, in the northwest corner of Chassagne, bordering St-Aubin. Given that it is...

92-94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of dark berries, plums, violets, rose petals and spices introduce Moreau's 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru La Cardeuse, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and perfumed wine that's supple and lively. As I wrote last year, this is a brilliant wine with a pedigree going back to the 1952 vintage, and consumers fixated on the Côte d'Or's more famous red wine producing villages overlook it to their disadvantage. (WK)" (01/2021) Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the slightly more expressive nose is compositio...

2019 Domaine Joseph Drouhin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Morgeot-Marquis de Laguiche" (Pre-Arrival) (Pre-Arrival)
Top Pick!

95 points James Suckling: "In spite of the generous ripeness, this remains surprisingly cool and delicate with a flinty note nicely complementing the candied lemon and lime, vanilla and jasmine aromas. Just the right amount of creaminess on the mid-palate to give this a silky quality. Long, refined mineral finish that pulls you back for more. Drink or hold." (07/2021) 92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Smoky reduction dominates the underlying fruit at present. By contrast there is excellent freshness to the caressing and round yet powerful medium-bo...

90 points Wine Spectator: "Matchstick, lemon, apple and baking spice flavors are fused to a bracing structure in this white. Gives up a little iodine accent on the finish. (BS, Web-2021)" Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A citrusy top note is present on the aromas of petrol, resin and various white-fleshed fruit and in particular apple and pear compote. The delicious, plump and rounded medium-bodied flavors are generously proportioned, yet the lemon-tinged acidity is just sufficiently firm to keep the balanced on the sneaky long finale. This needs to develop...

94 points Decanter: "This small 0.18ha block sits in a hollow close to the RN6 that runs up to Saint Aubin and can be frost prone in years like 2016. In 2018, it's humid soils were a buffer against heat stress, producing a wine that's rich and textured, with fennel and vanilla spice on the nose and a palate that marries honey and tangerine flavours with vivid balancing acidity. (TA)" (10/2019) 92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes opens in the glass with scents of citrus oil, white flowers, fres...

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This too is firmly reduced so again, be sure to give this a thorough aeration. Otherwise there is fine volume to the finer and more mineral-infused flavors that aren't quite as rich though they are more refined on the balanced bitter lemon suffused finish. This could use better complexity, but more depth should develop with a few years of bottle aging. *Outstanding*" (06/2021)

89-91 points Vinous: "The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Village "Margot" comes from four parcels. The well-defined nose offers dried lemon peel and orange blossom plus a touch of chalk dust. The palate is medium-bodied with lovely white peach and nectarine notes on the entry, a fine bead of acidity and a harmonious, pretty finish. Delicious. (NM)" (10/2021) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Cuvée Margot bursts with aromas of pear, tangerine, honeycomb and freshly baked bread. 91-93 points Vinous: "The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Village "Margot", the name of this particular cuvée rather than the lieu-dit, comes from four parcels and is raised in 15% new oak. It has a well defined bouquet with orange pith and yellow plum aromas that gain intensity with aeration. The palate is full of energy with impressive depth, gorgeous orange zest and mandarin notes, almond and a little walnut. Very harmonious and very persistent on the finish, this punches well above its weight. (NM)" (12/2020) 88-90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "...

92 points James Suckling: "Very well executed reduction and oak interplay with some flint and praline, hazelnut and peach, as well as lemon curd. The palate has a very vivid, punchy presence with grapefruit and juicy peach flavors holding bright into the long finish." (12/2020) 92 points Wine Spectator: "An elegant style, with aromas and flavors of lime blossom, apple and oak spice. There is less weight here, yet no less intensity. Fine, lingering finish. (BS)" (04/2021) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Aromas of fresh pear, toasted bread, p...

94 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "One wine that's indubitably built for the cellar is Niellon's emblematic 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chaumées Clos de la Truffière. Opening in the glass with scents of crisp orchard fruit, Meyer lemon, wheat toast and a subtle touch of reduction, it's medium to full-bodied, textural and incisive, with fine depth at the core, lively acids, and a long, precise finish. (WK)" (01/2020) 93 points Wine Spectator: "An opulent style, this white boasts lush flavors of peach, apricot, butter and toasty, spicy e...
Price: $109.99

94 points Decanter: "The Niellon holdings of Champgains sit in the middle of Chassagne and occupy 0.44ha on a gentle slope. If you like subtle struck match aromas, this will be your kind of wine, as it is mine. Pithy and stony, with racy minerality, grapefruit and citrus peel flavours, fine oak integration and just a drizzle of acacia honey. Classy winemaking from Michel Coutou. (TA)" (10/2019) 94 points Wine Spectator: "The alluring aromas of peach, lemon and toasty, baking spices mesh beautifully in this vibrant white. It's harmonious, making you wan...

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Vergers is also excellent, unwinding to reveal notes of green pear, white currants, toasted bread, anise and fresh mint. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a more muscular, textural profile than the Clos Saint-Jean this year, concluding with a penetrating, mineral finish. (WK) 93+" (01/2020) 93 points Wine Spectator: "This white is lush and expressive, boasting peach, melon, lemon and butterscotch aromas and flavors. It's broad-shouldere...

97 points Wine Spectator: "A white of mouthfilling proportions—part vintage and part appellation—exhibiting peach, lemon cake, hazelnut and lime blossom aromas and flavors. Majestic and complex, its layers unfurl from beginning to the long, ethereal aftertaste. Superb. *Collectible* (BS)" (05/2021) 95 points Decanter: "Chevalier-Montrachet arguably performed best of the white Grands Crus in 2018, thanks to its altitude. This 1963 planting of 0.23ha is a case in point, as it has produced a characteristically racy, chalky, mineral-edged white with orange...

94 points Vinous: "The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet La Boudriotte 1er Cru is very floral on the nose with pressed white flowers, honeysuckle and broom, touches of chalk and apricot. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, more density than the La Grande Montagne, impressive weight and salinity that gets the saliva flowing on the finish. Excellent. (NM)" (12/2021)
Price: $99.99

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is also markedly floral in character with its nose of poached pear, apple compote and resin hints. There is good volume and mid-palate density to the medium weight flavors that also possess fine depth and persistence on the citrusy and agreeably dry finale. Lovely. *Outstanding!*" (06/2021)
Price: $99.99

87-90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This is sufficiently reduced to suppress the underlying fruit at present. Otherwise there is good punch to the solidly constituted, even powerful, flavors that aren't especially refined but do offer notably better depth and persistence." (06/2020) 88-90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet Village wafts from the glass with aromas of Anjou pear, yellow apples and fresh pastry, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and succulent palate, concluding with a precise finish. It's a...
Price: $149.99

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The swan song for this cuvée is the 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Clos de la Chapelle (Duc de Magenta), a muscular, concentrated wine that exhibits aromas of orange oil, peach, buttery pastry and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and textural, with a fleshy core of ripe fruit and bright balancing acids, it offers a classic expression of Morgeot in all its exuberance. The 2020 vintage has turned out beautifully at this address, delivering concentrated, flavorful wines with alcohol levels...

90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Moderate reduction overshadows the fruit though notes of petrol and wood poke through. Otherwise there is good richness to the sleek and caressing medium weight flavors that possess a beguiling texture while delivering very solid depth and persistence on the balanced finale. " (06/2021) 91-93 points Vinous: "The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers 1er Cru needs some coaxing from the glass, eventually revealing lemon sherbet and orange zest aromas, just a touch of marzipan in the background. The palate is clean...

90 points Vinous: "Matured with 20% new oak the 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Village has a high-toned and expressive bouquet with white flowers and a touch of tangerine. The palate is well balanced with a finely tuned opening, lemon verbena and apricot, with a pretty, quite floral finish. This is quite classy for a Chassagne Village." (12/2021)
Price: $69.99

90-92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Smoky aromas include those of white and yellow orchard fruit, rosemary oil and a hint of melon. The medium-bodied flavors are not quite as dense, but they do possess a lovely sense of verve that carries over to the youthfully austere, dry and focused finale that is noticeably less structured." (06/2021) 90-92 points Vinous: "The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet La Maltroie 1er Cru is a new addition to Vougeraie’s portfolio, acquired from Alex Gambal. The vines were already being treated organically. It has an intense n...
Price: $109.99

92 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is a whiff of the exotic on the white and yellow peach, citrus and floral-inflected aromas. The texture of the medium-bodied flavors is at once rich but sleek with excellent minerality on the impressively persistent finale. I quite like this, and it should amply repay extended keeping. *Burghound Outstanding!*" (06/2021)
Price: $109.99

98 points Wine Enthusiast: "From the flagship vineyard of an exceptionally terroir-focused producer, this spicy, smoky sip offers the seduction of French oak alongside piercing lemon, white peach and even pineapple flavors. Creamy and silk-tipped yet vital and translucent, it's everything you could ask of Grand Cru white Burgundy in such a ripe vintage. Irresistible young, the wine should continue to gain complexity through 2035. *Editors' Choice* (AI)" (12/2021) 92-94 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Moderate wood surrounds the very spicy nose that ...

90 points Vinous: "The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Clos Saint-Jean 1er Cru comes from a young parcel in the centre of the village. Maybe this does not have quite the same complexity as the Maltroye at the moment, a little subdued. The palate is well balanced with a slightly honeyed texture, hints of tangerine and mandarin, almond and white peach towards the finish. Fine. (NM) 90+" (12/2021) K&L Notes: Sourced from sloping vineyards planted in the 1970s above the village of Chassagne-Montrachet between Vergers and Caillerets, with a soil profile of limes...

91 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "Here the nose is displaying some post-bottling reduction so give it some air if you're going to try a bottle young. More interesting are the succulent and round yet decidedly powerful medium-bodied flavors that brim with dry extract that helps to buffer the notably firmer tannic spine shaping the lengthy finish. This is also quite good though note that it will need at least a few years of keeping first. *Burghound Outstanding!*" (04/2022) K&L Notes: 92pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Just bottled. Just a little ...
Price: $64.99

91-93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gain opens in the glass with hints of nutmeg, pear, peach, white flowers and fresh pastry. Medium to full-bodied, supple and charming, with lively acids, its outlines are promising, and I suspect it will take on depth with further élevage. Damien Colin reported that his yields were some 30% below average and that the crop ripened rapidly, "even very rapidly." Indeed, having projected a September 15 start, he began picking on September 7. Alcohol levels came in ...

96 points Decanter: "The gentle handling and reductive ageing of the wines here gives an easy-to-love result, with clean aromas of ripe pear, butter and spice, plus a supple yet elegant feel on the palate that is less powerful but more elegant than its neighbour, Bâtard. Céline Fontaine farms this 0.33ha Criots parcel under the influence of the combe that leads to St-Aubin. Although the climat is next to Bâtard it is very different, with red marl and more limestone pebbles than one finds there, giving this wine lovely minerality. Drinking Window 2025 - 2...
Price: $319.99

93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "There is just enough reduction to reduce the expressiveness and blur a bit of the nuance to what are clearly ripe and floral-suffused aromas. The rich, delicious and palate coating large-scaled flavors possess impressive density while delivering excellent length on the compact and youthfully austere bitter lemon-inflected finish that is even firmer. Unlike the Criots that could reasonably be approached after 5-ish or so years, this is going to require between 12 and 15 years of patience if you wish to experience it a...
Price: $339.99

Allen Meadows - Burghound: "A more restrained but more elegant nose combines ripe red and dark raspberry aromas with floral and discreet spice wisps. There is again excellent vibrancy and delineation to the more finely textured flavors thanks to the fine-grained tannins shaping the moderately firm finale. This too is a very good Chassagne villages and worth your interest. *Outstanding Top Value!*" (04/2022) K&L Notes: Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy: "Bottled before the harvest. Mid purple, with a slightly darker centre. The fruit has a little more energ...

91 points John Gilman: "The 2020 Chassagne villages bottling is definitely showing the addition of the younger vine fruit from Caillerets in it this year, as the wine is very refined aromatically, offering up scents of apple, pear, a fine base of chalky minerality, lemon blossoms and a deft touch of new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, bright and full, with fine focus and grip, zesty acids, a fine core of fruit and a long, soil-driven and quite elegant finish. 2023-2050." 90-93 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: " Layered aromas include those of petrol, green fruit, lemon-lime and a subtle dollop of wood. The slightly finer and more intense flavors possess a really lovely texture as well as slightly better length on the balanced finish that could also use better depth. Even so, I very much like the delivery and this should age out successfully." (06/2021) 91-93 points Vinous: "The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er Cru has a slightly more austere bouquet compared to Moreau’s other cuvées, yet there is fine del...

88-90 points Vinous: "The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge offers lilting red cherry and wild strawberry scents on the nose, hints of rose petal coming through with aeration. The palate is well balanced with fine definition, lightly spiced, quite energetic on the finish. This is very elegant for Chassagne Rouge. (NM)" (12/2021) Allen Meadows - Burghound: "This also reflects notes of pepper and earth on the aromas of red currant, dark cherry and violet. There is better size, weight and mid-palate density to the attractively textured flavors that exude a ...
