92 points James Suckling: "A bright and fresh blend of 75% Chenin and 25% Viognier, offering white peach and hints of candied lemon. Lightly steely with bitter-lemon notes. Just slightly off-dry." (03/2022) K&L Notes: A wine that Robert Parker has called "a consistent, big-time winner in the value sweepstakes," the Pine Ridge Chenin Blanc-Viognier blend is a wine you can count on.

92 points Wine & Spirits: "From a vineyard planted in the late 19th century (no one is certain when) in the sands of Contra Costa County near Antioch, this youthful mourvedre still bears a mild varietal funk that frames the fruit. After a day open, smoke and brown sugar notes adorn the wine’s black-cherry flavors, with a tense, compact texture. " K&L Notes: From an ancient block of vines in Antioch planted around 1895.

Though relative newcomers to the California wine scene, the Haarmeyers seem like they’ve been at it for much longer. Their Chenin Blancs, sourced from organically grown vineyards around the Sacramento area, have caught the attention of wine critics and customers alike. Chenin, the legend of the Loire, is deftly translated here as they capture the peach and spice flavors that typify the wine. I love the intensity, length and persistence of their 2020 Haarmeyer “St. Rey SVR” Clarksburg Chenin Blanc. This is certainly a winery to watch and to further explor...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This concentrated, complex wine is not overtly fruity, but draws interest from the first whiffs of black olive, rosemary and beef jus, backed by firm tannins and focused, tight blueberry and cranberry flavors. Count on it to open up and get even more friendly from 2024. *Editors’ Choice* (JG) " (03/2022) K&L Notes: Tinto Rey from the Matchbook family of brands focuses in on Spanish varietals and delivers exceptional value for money! Check out this stunning little Tempranillo from Dunnigan Hills made from heritage Tempran...

94 points Vinous: "The 2019 Mataro Pato Vineyard is positively stellar. Rich, deep and beautifully layered, the 2019 offers up a host of dark red/purplish fruit along with floral, savory and spice accents that add complexity. This vibrant, nuanced Mataro has so much to offer. (AG)" (01/2022) K&L Notes: From 120 year old vines in Pato Vineyard. These ancient vines are in good hands, now cared for by the team at Bedrock. Fine Disregard owner / winemaker Mike Schieffer works his day job along side Tegan Passalaqua as the assistant winemaker at Turley.

2020 Matchbook "Red Gravel" Dunnigan Hills Cabernet Sauvignon
93 points Wine Enthusiast: "This potent and rather compact wine shows excellent concentration and a quiet strength that comes out with time in the glass, as velvety tannins wrap around blueberries, dark chocolate and tobacco notes. *Editors’ Choice* (JG)" (05/2022)

Wine blogger turned winemaker William Allen felt "so strongly about a movement back to wines of balance, elegance, and modest alcohol," he writes on his blog in the fall of 2011, "that after several years of pontification I...put my money (all of it) where my mouth is and started a new micro label (<300 cases) called Two Shepherds."

Made by the folks at Hahn Vineyards, this is a prototypical Lodi Old Vine Zin with tons of lush rich fruit and a palate coating texture. However, it also has nice acidity, quite moderate alcohol (at least for Lodi ZIn) at 14.5% and was brought up in quality French oak. Vineyard sources for this wine are Bruella Vineyard (60+ years old) and Fathom Ranch (100 years old).

A fresh and fragrant take on this Spanish inspired red blend (53% Graciano, 47% Garnacha). The fruit comes from Markus Bokisch's organically certified, Tierra Alta vineyard. Lightly foot stoomped, native ferment and minimial intervention. Pure, silky and quaffable. (Ryan Woodhouse - K&L Domestic Wine Buyer)

2009 Turley "Dogtown" Lodi Zinfandel
Back In Stock!
89-92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "An outstanding offering from Lodi, the dark ruby/purple-tinged 2009 Zinfandel Dogtown offers up scents of sweet licorice, burning embers and gobs of ripe black raspberry and black currant fruit intermixed with hints of charcuterie and meat spices. This broad, flavorful, delicious wine is already irresistible and should provide pleasure over the next 2-4 years. Larry Turley and his sidekick, longtime winemaker Ehren Jordan remain the reference point, along with Mike Officer at Carlisle in Sonoma and the Biale F...

Connoisseurs Guide: "Redolent of ripe pears and candied limes on first sniff with a light floral note appearing with air, this relatively dry Chenin is a little muted and less rich on the palate than its fairly outgoing aromas predict. It is light to medium in body and a touch soft in balance, and, if arguably just a bit tentative in fruit on the back end, it is, as we have become accustomed to from this reliable producer over the years, a tasty, well-made look at the grape that delivers the goods at a very fair price. *Good Value*" (09/2021) K&L Notes...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Petite Sirah doesn’t get much richer than this wine, which was aged in French oak for 22 months. Black pepper and maple aromas lead to immense blueberry and blackberry flavors that layer over dark chocolate for a mouthfilling effect. Its velvety, palate-gripping tannins are just the right antidote to its opulent ripeness. Best through 2030. *Cellar Selection* (JG)" (11/2021)

Winery notes: The Heringer family has a long history of farming in Clarksburg and has begun setting the example for organic farming in the region. The Nebbiolo made from this vineyard is one of the lightest and most varietally correct one can find in California. The grapes are picked "early" in order to retain natural acidity and tannin. In the cellar, the wine goes through a partial-carbonic fermentation before being pressed at about 0 Brix in a neutral 600L oval shaped foudre.

A spectacular cherry liqueur, albeit with no sugar added! This handcrafted product comes from the farm of Patti and Dominique Azpeitia in Stockton, CA. With 1,200 acres of cherry and walnut trees and the desire to do something extraordinary with their produce, the Azpeitias set out to make a one-of-a-kind spirited beverage with no additives of any kind. They juice Bing cherries from their estate, ferment it on site, and transport the juice to be distilled into eau-de-vie by Stillwater in Petaluma. The EDV is then added back to 100% cherry juice for a bea...
