Jeb Dunnuck: "Made from 100% Chardonnay, the 2016 Chardonnay Tous Ensemble is a juicy, clean, crisp expression of Chardonnay. From the Cloud Landing and Carneros Hills West vineyards, its classic bouquet of lemon curd, rose petal, salty minerality, and earth all give way to a medium-bodied, fresh, lively, Chablis look-alike." (06/2018) K&L Notes: Copain has a long history of crafting some of California's most memorable wines. These are truly elegant, balanced bottlings that excel when paired with food and are known for their ageability. The "Tous Ensem...

92 points John Gilman: "This is the first vintage of Anderson Valley chardonnay that the winery has produced, and it is a very lovely wine that will drink well from its release. The bouquet is very floral and esthery, wafting from the glass in a lovely blend of pear, tangerine, fresh almond, white lilies, a hint of crème patissière, a nice base of soil and a very discreet framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and very nicely generous on the attack, with fine focus and grip, a lovely core, bright acids and a long, complex an...

The Red Belly bottling is Skylark's tribute to the wines of southern France, the home to so many great, value Rhône-style blends. This is a blend of 45% Carignan, 36% Grenache, and 19% Syrah. Each lot is vinified separately and then blended and bottled without fining or filtration. This is "old world earth elements married to the sunny disposition of coastal California."

2018 Drew "Field Selections - Estate" Mendocino Ridge Pinot Noir
Top Pick!
98 points Wine Enthusiast: "This opulent wine offers amazingly concentrated, ripe fruit flavors and a creamy texture. Layers of black cherry, blueberry and raspberry syrup are followed by rosemary and pine. Made from 80% whole clusters and 20% aged in new oak, it is an indulgent and delicious wine that beautifully supports its fruity extravagance with a slightly tangy and subtly tannic texture. *Cellar Selection* (JG) " (04/2021) 95 points Vinous: "The 2018 Pinot Noir Estate - Field Selections is the most complete of the Pinots in this range. Readers w...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "(Cellar Selection) Superfresh and powerfully fruity, this medium- to full-bodied wine braces bright, focused blackberry and black-cherry flavors with tangy acidity and moderate, grippy tannins. It has vibrancy and drama that are wonderful to experience. Best from 2023. (JG)" K&L Notes: This is the Breggo Cellars property founded by Doug and Ana Stewart in 2000. This property came out of the gate strong with their well-reviewed Pinot Noirs. Food & Wine magazine named Breggo the "Best New Winery of 2008" and they went on to bec...

93 points Wine Enthusiast: "Good depth of flavor and great structure make this wine appealing and complete. Smoky aromas of clove, cedar and black pepper lead to concentrated and rich black-cherry and red-cherry flavors on a moderately tannic texture. Best through 2025. (JG)" (08/2020)

94 points Vinous: "*This score and note was given to the same wine under a different label* The 2017 Pinot Noir Comptche Ridge is one of the most intriguing, layered Pinots in this range, as it so often is. Bright and precise in feel, the Comptche Ridge is built on a palpable sense of linear energy. A whole range of savory, floral and mineral notes, along with the wine's saline underpinnings give the Comptche Ridge a truly distinctive personality. It is, once again, one of my personal favorites in this range. (AG)" (05/2019) K&L Notes: Comptche Ridge V...

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This firm-textured, tannic wine is the first Drew GSM we’ve tasted, and it captures plenty of black-fruit flavors lifted by good acidity. It seems more lean than the winery’s Syrahs in recent vintages and may need time to mellow. (JG)" (10/2020) 90 points Wine Spectator: "Precise and well-built, with expressive red plum, fresh tarragon and smoked pepper flavors that build tension toward well-groomed tannins. Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache. (TF)" (04/2020) K&L Notes: "The Field Blend" from Drew is comprised of 87% Syrah, 5%...

2007 Copain "Monument Tree" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
Back In Stock!
91 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Deep red. Musky, herb-laced red and dark berry aromas are complemented by dried rose and cocoa qualities. Brighter on the palate, which offers sweet black raspberry and cherry flavors and good tannic spine. This displays an interesting blend of richness and energy, with very good finishing focus and length. It also deserves patience. (ST)" (05/2009)

91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Complex fruit flavors and a snappy texture make this medium-bodied wine both refreshing and satisfying. Brilliant sour cherry and rich grapefruit notes light up the palate. (JG)" (08/2020) K&L Notes: Winemaker's Notes: "The 2019 Mendocino County Rosé is a lovely shade of pale salmon with aromas of rose water, salinity and fresh picked strawberries. Bright flavors of juicy cantaloupe and honeydew melon are highlighted by a touch of Meyer lemon. Racy acidity and elegance are balanced perfectly in this dry, crisp Rosé. Fruit f...

90 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Starting with the 2017 Pinot Noir Anderson Valley, which comes from multiple sites in the Anderson Valley and spent 16 months in 60% new French oak, it has a juicy berry-fruited nose as well as ample violets, candied orange peel, and spice-driven aromas and flavors. It's one of the more approachable wines in the lineup yet still has classic Anderson Valley structure and minerality, medium body, and a great finish." (05/2020)

Winemaker's Notes: "The wine is sourced from the Bartolomei Brothers vineyard just outside of Ukiah in Mendocino County. The vineyard is 80-years-old and the Carignane vines are head trained and nestled up against the bench of the eastern Ukiah Valley. The 2019 vintage was the second year in a row of moderate and even ripening for our Carignane. We let the grapes hang a bit later in this vintage and were able to capture more flavor intensity in the finished wine. And thanks to Carignane's great natural acidity the wine remains vibrant and fresh."

93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The current release of the NV Estate Brut is made up mainly of fruit from the 2015 vintage. It is a blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir and was made with about ten grams per liter dosage. Disgorged in October of 2018, it has a fresh, open nose with pure fruit expression: crushed apples, pears and lemon peel mingle with touches of stone, flowers and toast. The medium-bodied palate offers a lovely dichotomy of toasty fruits with uplifted citrusy, minerally accents with a finely beaded mousse, and it finishes...

2018 Drew "The Field Blend - GSM" Mendocino Ridge Rhône Blend
Top Pick!
95 points Wine Enthusiast: "This quietly impressive wine wraps superfine tannins around deep, haunting flavors that range from ginger-spice cookies to cooked blueberries, new leather and dark chocolate. It’s big in terms of flavor impact, but the wine itself is just medium to full bodied, and offers a silky, polished texture that’s hard to resist. *Editors’ Choice* (JG)" (06/2021) 93 points Vinous: "The 2018 Field Blend is dark, fleshy and wonderfully inviting. Black cherry, chocolate, licorice, spice, menthol and leather all flesh out in a succulent, ...

Still family-owned in Mendocino's Anderson Valley, Husch has been producing Sauvignon Blanc since 1980. They source this wine from their partners down the hill in between Ukiah and Hopland. Although here it's not called the Russian River Valley appellation, La Ribera vineyard sits, indeed, right by the Russian River. Winery notes: "Husch's 2019 Sauvignon Blanc follows our classic style. Lively aromas of grapefruit, lemongrass, ripe honeydew, guava and gooseberry leap from the glass. The wine is crisp and refreshing with flavors that jive with the aromas ...

2018 Anthill Farms "Comptche Ridge Vineyard" Mendocino County Pinot Noir
Top Pick!
94-96 points Vinous: "Another stellar wine in this range, the 2018 Pinot Noir Comptche Ridge is fabulous. In this vintage, the Comptche Ridge is a bit richer and deeper than it has been, while avoiding some of the austerity this wine can show. Beguiling in its aromatics and finely sculpted, the 2018 is marvelously complex. There is plenty of tannin, and the acids are bright (as they are for all these wines), but the 2018 is deep and so multi-faceted. It will appeal most to readers who enjoy taut, structured reds. (AG)" (04/2020) 94 points Robert Parker...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "Pure, focused and vibrant fruit flavors at the core of this elegant, superbly balanced wine give it a rare vibrancy and power. Best from 2025. *Cellar Selection* (JG) " (04/2021)

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Leading off the wines from Mendocino, the straight 2015 Pinot Noir Anderson Valley is terrific. Black raspberries, singed herbs, earth and sappy flower notes all emerge from this supple, textured 2015 that’s already a joy to drink. It’s certainly one of the more approachable in the lineup, yet like all the wines from this estate, it’s going to keep nicely for a decade due to its balance and classic style. This was a terrific lineup of 2015s from the team at Rhys. Across the board, these are tight and structured, with terrific con...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "A good, firm mouthfeel and focused, fresh black-fruit flavors help this medium- to full-bodied wine stand out from the pack. Modestly priced for an estate-bottled wine, it has lip-smacking black-cherry and black-tea notes that are lifted by light tannins and good acidity. *Editors' Choice* (JG)" (12/2020) Wine Spectator: "Zesty cherry and wild berry flavors are backed by bright acidity, with savory notes on the finish that show flinty accents. 2016 Carpe Diem Anderson Valley Chardonnay
New!
91 points Wine Enthusiast: "Vivid oaky, earthy aromas lead to ripe firm flavors of apple and citrus in this assertive and well-structured wine. Goldeneye in Anderson Valley has long been considered one of the benchmark producers of the region. Their Pinot Noirs have been consistent best sellers here at K&L for at least a decade. When we were offered some of their vintage Brut Rosé, a wine typically reserved for winery direct purchase, we jumped at the chance and weren't disappointed! Winemaker's Notes: "Anderson Valley has earned acclaim for the complexity and distinctiveness of its sparkling wines. Made from our very best blocks of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, our vibrant and alluring Goldeneye B...

91 points John Gilman: "These are still quite young vines, having only been planted in 2004, but it is quite clear that the Rhys team is keeping a tight rein on yields here and the 2010 Horseshoe syrah is outstanding. It is not quite as soil-driven as the 2010 Skyline syrah (this vineyard does not share the same limestone found at Skyline), but it is every bit as complex and impressive. I love its octane level of 12.8 percent. The superb nose offers up scents of cassis, grilled venison, black olive, pepper, a nice touch of syrah’s medicinal overtones, a ...

93 points Jeb Dunnuck: "Coming from Mendocino County, the 2015 Chardonnay Anderson Valley offers a riper, slightly tropical style in its aromatics, possessing lots of caramelized pineapples, orange blossom, and honeysuckle nuances, with some toasty, nutty notes developing with time in the glass. With terrific mid-palate depth and fat on the palate, as well as bright acidity and a great finish, it’s what I call a Smoking Value! It’s already impossible to resist, with a rounded feel, yet I suspect it will keep for a decade nevertheless." (08/2017) 92 poi...

90 points Wine Spectator: "Fresh and fruity, with buoyant raspberry and cherry flavors, backed by crisp acidity. The lithe finish offers light mineral and spice notes. (KM, Web Only-2020)" K&L Notes: Erin Brooks writes in the Wine Advocate: "Copain has a new winemaker. Ryan Zepaltas came on board in 2017 for blending, and 2018 will be his first official full vintage. 'We are not going to change our style,' he says. 'We are still making wines in a more restrained style from Anderson Valley, Mendocino and the Sonoma Coast.'"

2011 Copain "Kiser- En Bas" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid red. Shows more red fruit and vivacity on the nose and palate than the Kiser En Haut that Guthrie poured before this, with sexy floral and smoky mineral nuances and a touch of Asian spices. Lively and precise, with a silky texture and building sweetness. Finishes tight and very long, with subtle, harmonious tannins and resonating rose and allspice qualities. " (06/2014) K&L Notes: Only about ten miles from the ocean, the flagship Kiser Vineyard is Copain's coolest site, producing small yie...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "Seductive aromas of caramel and toast lead to buttery, apple-tart flavors on a medium body. This wine is nicely freshened by good green-apple acidity and stays relatively light in texture. Fermented by native yeast and aged in just 12% new oak, it is built for aging. (JG)" (06/2021) K&L Notes: Winery notes: "Jason and Molly Drew started Drew in 2000 with a clear pursuit in mind: to craft small lot, cool climate wines that express site distinction and traditional varietal character. 2006 Copain "Cerise Vineyard" Anderson Valley Pinot Noir
Back In Stock!
90 points Allen Meadows - Burghound: "An expressive and obviously ripe red Pinot and violet floral aromas without any hint of surmaturité gracefully introduce what is probably the most lush and opulent wine in the Copain range yet there is focus and definition here, particularly on the moderately structured finish that offers excellent intensity and fine depth. I like the mouth feel because even though there is ample richness here, the mid-palate doesn't lose focus. Lovely and long plus this will age." (10/2008) 90 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:...

94 points Wine Enthusiast: "This full-bodied wine is serious, powerful and age-worthy. The warm layer of fine-grained tannins that cloaks the enticing woodsmoke, game and blackberry flavors now will melt with time and bring out even more complexity. Best from 2025." (01/2021)

93 points John Gilman: "The 2010 Kiser En Haut bottling of pinot noir from Wells Guthrie is a terrific bottle of wine that channels Morey St. Denis with great aplomb. The wine tips the scales at a very grown up 12.8 percent alcohol and wafts from the glass in a deep and complex aromatic constellation of red and black cherries, a touch of venison, cocoa, lovely soil tones, fresh herbs, woodsmoke and a deft touch of new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and youthfully complex, with excellent mid-palate intensity, well-measured tannins, good...

92 points Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar: "Vivid red. Deeper and darker in character than the En Haut, displaying scents of black raspberry, boysenberry and cola, with a suave undercurrent of minerals adding vivacity. Deeply concentrated dark berry flavors stain the palate and pick up a sexy cola element on the back end. Finishes with very good focus and a lingering note of cherry-cola. (JG)" (09/2020) Wine Spectator: "Racy and jammy, with floral raspberry, rhubarb, toasty and spice flavors that finish with a burst of fruit. (TF)" (06/2020) Connoisseurs Guide: "Fully ripe without tipping to excess and showing touches of chocolate and earthy spice to its relatively dense, dark berry fruit, this full-bodied offering is of a more rustic bent, and, while its incl...

95 points Vinous: "The 2016 Syrah Estate Gibson Block is the star of this range from Marietta. From a dry-farmed site planted in the 1880s, the Gibson Block is powerful, sumptuous and racy to the core. A whole range of complementary varieties give the Gibson Block striking inner perfume and lift to play off the intense dark fruit, while silky tannins add to the wine's racy, inviting personality. 90 points Connoisseurs Guide: "Just as it did in last year’s survey of sparkling wines, Scharffenberger’s Brut Rosé once again impresses with its fine combination of deep, slightly juicy, very well-stated fruit and integral autolysis. It is a deftly balanced wine with a steady, very long-lasting stream of tiny bubbles, and, although we continue to be happily surprised at the number of affordable sparklers that merit 'Good Value' recommendation, this wine’s buoyancy, intricate layering and careful crafting earns it an especially enthusiastic nod as nothin...

Winemaker's Notes: "Halcon vineyard is planted high atop the mountainous Yorkville Highlands, in thin, rocky chaparral soils rich with mica-schist, fractured quartz and shale. The vineyard is densely planted with rows planted NNW to provide even sunlight exposure and shade. The northerly location, ocean exposure and altitude all combine to offer ideal conditions to grow cool climate Syrah. While harvest yields from Halcon are often small, given the small clusters and berries and extreme growing conditions, we could not be happier to be receiving fruit fo...

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "This singular wine from Theodora Lee is one of the top expressions of this variety. Arresting aromas of menthol, lavender, black pepper and rosemary excite interest on the nose before darkly concentrated black-fruit flavors hit the palate. Firm tannins and a lipsmacking, appetizing textural bite beautifully play off the dramatic flavors. Not for the faint of heart, this medium- to full-bodied wine will be best from 2023 - 2030. *Cellar Selection* (JG)" (02/2021)
Price: $29.99

96 points Wine Enthusiast: "Rose petal and mint accents merge with deep, concentrated black-fruit flavors in this medium- to full-bodied wine that is laced with velvety, fine-grained tannins. It combines superb balance with layers of fruit and subtle spices for a very compelling palate. *Cellar Selection* (JG)" (06/2021) K&L Notes: "Fog Eater" is an Anderson Valley colloquialism referring to coastal dwellers, people blanketed by the fog that settles over the valley off the Pacific.
