Finca Garabato is a parcel of Valtea's oldest wines. This wine spends a year in tank with extended lees contact. This gives the wine a lovely richness, which really ramps up the flavor and textural qualities of the wine. Still refreshing, only richer than the regular Valtea bottling and ready to take on a meal.

Our ninth vintage of this direct import Albariño! This shows everything we like in the grape: hints of lemongrass, lively stone fruit, and a brisk, saline-tinged palate. Located in the sub-zone of Condado do Tea, where the days are a bit warmer and evenings are slightly cooler, there is a wonderful mid-palate presence to complement the typically lean and mineral qualities of Albariño. A classic with any shellfish, especially Dungeness crab!

93 points Wine Advocate: "The young and tender 2022 Albariño is the blend of the grapes from 165 plots in the Salnés, fermented with a pied de cuve from the old vines, fermented in stainless steel and matured with lees. It has a balsamic nose with notes of grass and bay leaf, a round palate with pungent flavors and good acidity. It's clean and varietal, reflecting a warmer year. (LG) " (11/2023) K&L Notes: Do Ferreiro is a benchmark Albariño. Every year, it delivers the goods, showing a degree of aromatic complexity, nervy minerality, and pure intens...

92 points Wine Enthusiast: "This light straw-colored wine has a nose of nectarine and orange blossom. It is bright from the first sip, with lemon-lime, grapefruit and passion fruit flavors. A savory note of dried Mediterranean herbs infuses the vivid finish.(MD)" (03/2024) 90 points James Suckling: "Really refreshing nose that brings you to the seashore with a subtle briny character to the lemon citrus and nectarines. Crisp and simple on the palate with bright acidity and a elegant yet energetic finish. Drink now." (07/2023)

93 points Wine Advocate: "93+ points "The 2023 Zarate is the flagship Albariño that shows the character of the year, with more moderate ripeness, 12.5% alcohol and a balanced and elegant profile. It's clean, floral and still a little reductive (this is 100% stainless steel) and should open up with a little more time in bottle. There is some 30% of wine with malolactic in the final blend. It has less concentration and alcohol than the 2022, with more finesse and freshness and is a little more herbal. This is a superb example of Albariño from Salnés. 84,00...

Juanjo Tellaetxe Tantaka, a priest by profession, grew up in a remote river valley in the Basque province of Araba. As a child Juanjo would walk with the shepherds as they followed their flocks through the valley. His family has lived in Araba for generations in Araba; the family cemetery shares a river canyon with Juanjo’s vineyards. Steep mountains protect the valley from the harsh Atlantic winds, so the valley is humid and cool most of the year creating long hang times for the grapes. During the rainy season, waterfalls cascade down sheer cliff faces,...

91 points Wine Advocate: "The 2022 Torgo has an intriguing nose with lots of herbs and moss aromas. The wine is ripe at 14.5% alcohol but also balanced and fresh with high acidity (eight grams of tartaric acid per liter of wine), round and powerful, with pungent flavors and a persistent finish. 1,207 bottles were produced. The vines achieved organic certification in 2020, and the wine carries certification now. (LG)" (11/2023) K&L Notes: This is a very special Albariño, very small production (just 1,120 bottles produced!). You might have noticed that i...

Reboraina is a very small producer of white wines in Galicia, on average 10,000 bottles annually. They own 5ha of vines that are located outside of the city of Pontevedra, which is not located in the Rias Baixas, it is just south of the Val de Salnes. While this does not carry that famous appellation name, it more than delivers what we have come to expect from Albarino grown in the Salnes Valley. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, this is coastal Albarino. Medium bodied, aromatic, crisp and fresh and finishes with just a hint of seaside salinity. Thi...

94 points Wine Advocate: "The first bottle of the 2021 Pedraneira felt very advanced and was not representative of the wine, but a second one was fresh as a daisy, floral, marine and elegant, complex but not explosive, a little more introverted, with a faint lactic touch. It went through full malolactic, and 2021 was a year of high malic acid." (11/2023)

94 points Wine Advocate: "The textbook 2023 Leirana is elegant, clean and expressive, with notes of white flowers and fruit, fine lees and herbs. It fermented and matured in stainless steel and 80% in oak foudres for six months. The palate is medium-bodied with good ripeness and a moderate 12.4% alcohol, keeping the freshness and balance and finishing with a bitter and salty twist. This is very tasty.(LG)" (07/2024) K&L Notes: Produced from 35- to 60-year-old Albariño vines located in the Salnés sub-zone of Rías Baixas, this is a bright, fresh, focused...

95 points Wine Advocate: "The 2022 Tras da Viña has a golden color and a more exotic nose compared with the 2023s I tasted next to it. It's a wine that is bottled one year later. It has 13.5% alcohol and is intense, with pungent flavors and a dry mouthfeel with the granularity of the granite soils. I think the 2022s are going to evolve a little faster. There are some 6,200 bottles and 150 magnums. It was bottled in June 2024. (LG)" (07/2024) K&L Notes: Zarate is legendary in the Salnes sub-zone of Rias Baixas. They were the first to bottle single viney...

95 points Wine Advocate: "The 2023 Balado has aromatic intensity and is still very primary and undeveloped, combining power and good development of aromas and flavors with more finesse and elegance. It has 13.5% alcohol and a velvety texture; it went through full malolactic, which gives some creaminess, but it's neatly balanced by the granite minerality. The wine is still fresh and has longevity. 4,200 bottles and 150 magnums were filled in early June 2024. (LG)" (07/2024) K&L Notes: Zarate is legendary in the Salnes sub-zone of Rias Baixas. Penapedre is the name of the vineyard where the fruit is sourced. It is tiny, 0.66 hectares, and is located on the banks of the Miño River in Ribeira Sacra. It cannot carry the appellation because the wine is a field blend of red and white varietals. The vineyard is exceptionally steep, ov 60% inclination, it is a vineyard that heroic viticulture is easily applied to. The blend is 64% Mencía, 22% Garnacha Tintorera and 14% Jaén Blanco. The grapes are havested and then foot trodden in chestnut vats. Fermentation starts with native yeasts and the wine spen...
