Produced from 100% estate-grown, organically cultivated Xarel-lo, from their oldest plants (40+ years old), this is the taste of well farmed Xarel-lo: salty, with a touch of the ever-present fennel that grows wildly in the zone. The Garriga family, with Toni and Jordi currently at the helm, have been farming this land since the 17th century. While their cava is among our most popular sparkling wines in the store, it is absolutely worth emphasizing that their still wines are also incredibly well made and delicious.

Toca cava is made with organically grown grapes from the heart of Cava country in the Penedes. This crisp, clean cava boasts the indigenous grapes of the region: 50% Macabeo, 35% Parellada and 15% Xarel-lo. Aged anywhere from 12-15 months, this is very refreshing with tasty fruit and a dry finish. "Toca" means to touch or to play, and this is a deliciously playful sparkling wine for any occasion.

91 points John Gilman: "The 2021 De Nit Extra Brut Rosé from Raventós I Blanc is composed from a blend this year of forty percent Xarel-lo, thirty-five percent Macabeu, twenty percent Parellada and five percent Malvasia de Sitges. It was aged for a year and a half sur latte and was disgorged in April of 2023. The wine is a very pale salmon color and offers up a bright and precise bouquet of wild strawberries, white peach, salty minerality, lemongrass and citrus peel. On the palate the wine is vibrant, focused and full-bodied, with a lovely core and min...

94 points Decanter: "DWWA 2023 "A very classic and classy wine with zesty acidity, a lemon, lime, grapefruit and honeydew melon nose and palate and good development potential."" (06/2023) 93 points Wine Advocate: "They look for a more classical expression in the 2019 De la Finca, a selection of vineyards by Pepe Raventós's grandfather, produced in a slightly more oxidative style and aged for 30+ months with lees. 2019 was a very good and "normal" vintage, with good rain, normal yields and a paused harvest. This has more smokiness from the contact with ...

Can Sumoi is the new Penedes project from Pepé Raventos of Raventos i Blanc. Located in the lower Penedes, the wines are all really well put together, produced from organically farmed estate grown fruit in calcareous soils containing many marine fossils, and made in a careful yet hands off approach informed by some of Pepé's favorite natural wines. Montònega is a clone of Parellada found on the estate, with high quality, pink berries. The soils here are primarily clay and limestone and very compact. Vineyards are farmed organically with biodynamic practi...

94 points Wine Advocate: "I had not tasted the Subtil for a long time; 2013 was the last with Chardonnay, and they didn't produce 2014; and in 2015, they changed to 100% Xarel.lo refermented with organic must. The 2018 Subtil is from the vineyard Finca Serral del Roure, which has a little more clay and a tendency to produce a rounder wine. It has 11.5% alcohol with very good freshness, reflecting a cooler year, and there is some spiciness and a yeasty touch with a medicinal and balsamic twist and a very tasty finish, almost salty, long, lively and with a...

Recaredo is one of the world's great sparkling wine projects. Started in 1924, proprietor Josep Matep Capellades was a sparkling wine disgorger who began reserving his own bottles. He built his own cellar and eventually founded Caves Recaredo. Over the last 80 years, the winery has acquired some of the best land in Alt Penedes and most of the vineyards are on calcareous soil (similar to that of Champagne). Keeping with tradition the wines are aged on the lees under natural cork enclosures, hand disgorged without freezing the neck and no dosage is added k...

Made entirely from local varietals Garnacha and Trepat, this is a true Mediterranean sparkling rosado. Not that there is anything wrong with French sparkling wine varietals, but the local varietals are better adapted to the local soils and the warmer climate. Sourced from vineyards planted in the Calcareous soils of Baix Penedes, the vines age from 50-80 years old. Made in the Traditional method, it sees 24 months aging before disgorgement.

97 points Wine Advocate: "Their top wine is the single-vineyard Xarel.lo 2008 Turó d'en Mota, named after the origin of the grapes. 2008 was an exceptional year in the zone, and the wine fermented in 300-liter oak barrels and then was put to referment in bottle, where it spent no less than 155 months (12 years and 11 months!) with the lees. 2008 produced healthy clusters of extraordinary acidity, ideal for the long aging, and it has only 11% alcohol, an incredible pH of 3.02 and six grams of tartaric acid. Maybe I'm influenced but the nose, but the aroma...

94 points Decanter: "The 2014 vintage of the estate's flagship sparkling wine saw 68 months of lees ageing. A blend of 56% Xarel-lo and 44% Macabeo, it's more sweet-spiced on the nose compared to the 2017 vintage, with still-fresh green and yellow apples and hints of crushed almonds. Bone-dry on the palate with 5.1g/l of acidity. Elegant and textured, the crunchy green fruits are enriched by bruised apple and sourdough notes, leading to a long finish. (SW)" (11/2022) K&L Notes: Recaredo is one of the world's great sparkling wine projects. Started in 1...
